For me, when I log in I have a choice generally between 3 options - do I want to LEAD, do I want to FOLLOW, or do I want to FARM? If I want to LEAD, then I try to get a sense of what might be running already that I tend to run. This may require me to be online doing pretty much nothing for up to 15 minutes (the length of an average BAF, I estimate) while I follow LFG. I primarily run MSRs, BAFs, LAMs, DDs, and MAGs. I have a custom popmenu for each of those, each with a unique "voice" for whatever character I choose to lead with. Part of my decision about what to run has to do with what I feel like running - a Master of Lambda run, for instance, takes 3 successful runs, which is a bit of a time commitment. I can /search RWZ and The Hive to see if there is a build up of players there, indicating an MSR or Hami may be forming already. I also sometimes just lead level 50 PI missions. If I am choosing to lead, I also then need to decide which character to play, as some of my characters are built for specific things. If I want to FOLLOW, then I am probably logging in and seeing a buddy online I want to run with for a bit, so I may alt to another character. Or, I am logging in from a second account people don't associate with "Oklahoman" so I can play somewhat anonymously. (Hey, being a celebrity has a cost.) Sometimes I am learning how someone else runs something I run already, to see where I can improve my own leadership. Sometimes, I want to learn about a new part of the game to see if I want to maybe lead it myself. And, sometimes, I just want to have fun without the responsibilities of recruiting and managing a team, and retain the ability to drop out at any time. If I want to FARM, then I need to decide if I want to include others or go it alone. I'm all for farming a toon through a few levels, but I would prefer to see newer players actually play the game and earn their levels that way. Just my preference. So, I don't often include others in a farm, but I do on occasion. I generally farm for influence, which I can then give away as a prize in MSRs. Farming, too, for me is somewhat meditative in that I don't have to put a lot of thought into while I am doing it. Anyway, when I log in, that's generally my thought process.

Positive Gamer No Longer Playing CoH, Very Horrible Story
Oklahoman replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
Points 2-4 were all his own making, IMO. Nothing I could do personally to improve his experience in any of these areas. Was the Hami raid he accidentally crashed listed in the player-led events calendar for that server? If so, and he didn't bother to check, maybe he should have. If not, he had every right to be there doing his thing. I do feel sympathy for him in the first respect, though. There are some real jerks out there. I just try to give them a wide berth and enjoy the game while I can. -
I've said before that LFG needs some rethinking, at least on Excelsior where there is non-stop traffic on the channel. I think the core of what you were suggesting is good - reduce chatter on LFG that doesn't really help people find a team or league. I suggested once before that maybe no one should be able to post to LFG more than once every 30 seconds or so, and that idea was shut down mainly because it would have potentially prevented team/league leaders from posting right away that their team/league was full. I guess some think that's pretty important.

Maybe it’s not clear that I’m suggesting a tool for players, not team and league leaders. Certainly some team and league leaders may ask players to enable the feature, but no one is required to. A player would likely only enable it if they found it useful to them. FWIW I do use request in one specific instance in one trial, and capital letters for some entire instructions and some key words in everything else I run. I use the whistle emote! Some people are not going to follow instructions no matter what you do. This suggestion wouldn’t be helpful to them. Likely they’d never know it’s there because they don’t read patch notes either.
 -
And if you want to still use Request, go for it. Just suggesting another option.

How about a setting to choose a background color for both team and league leaders chat, just to make it stand out more?

Load last 15 minutes of LFG chat on character entry
Oklahoman replied to Oklahoman's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I grabbed all the LFG traffic for 15 minutes starting at noon today on Excelsior, which consisted of 45 messages with a resulting text file size of around 4KB. My guess, only knowing /thismuch/ about programming in general and absolutely nothing about the code used on the COH servers is that the challenge and processing power needed would be in querying some database and filtering it down to that 4KB file transfer. Maybe it's negligible, I don't have a clue. But as @Greycat suggested, if you had a slider in settings to set this feature anywhere from 0 to 30 minutes you can essentially select your load speed, too. If you want the fastest possible load time, select 0. -

Load last 15 minutes of LFG chat on character entry

I find if I keep talking eventually I'll say something useful. -
Be the first to hit the green button "x" number of times when entering something in LFG, some restrictions apply, offer not available in all states. I'm only half joking. Click the darn button and let's get started, already.

I'm one of those streamers, in case you care to follow. I sat my kids down once and asked them why they enjoyed watching other people play video games. Made no sense to me, even after they explained it. So, I turned on a 3.5 hour football game and tried to think about it. Even watched some golf after that - boring as hell, but did give me time to think about it more. Anyway, if I come up with an answer I'll let you know. My kids tell me that what we need to do is stream doing something like Minecraft or other popular games, and maybe pick up followers from there who will see us later playing City of Heroes - that, in their opinion, might help us get more people to play CoH. There's also a "Just Talking" game select option, and maybe if we did some kind of talk show about the game we might pick up some people in the same way. Just a thought.

Suggestion: P2W vendors in leveling hotspots?

Suggestion: P2W vendors in leveling hotspots?
Oklahoman replied to Crystal Dragon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A P2W vendor in RWZ would be nice. Also would love to have one as a placeable NPC in a base. -
Exactly, it's a social event. 🙂 You can watch videos of past MSRs I've run on my Twitch channel. I set it up so whatever people post in the REQUEST channel gets to be seen in my Twitch stream. We send a lot of "dad" and "uncle" jokes there. I do a fair amount of pulling, even as a Defender, and I usually walk away with around 1200 vMerits or more. But, if it's not your thing, don't do it. That's OK. Game may not be here tomorrow for all we know. Have fun now. Eat dessert first.

Please do not occupy a spot in an MSR from which you intend to drop after U'kon falls, at least if you are in a full league at the beginning. You are likely consuming a spot that someone else could have used who plans to be there for the full raid. Or a Defender. 😜 BTW: love any and all ideas to create expansions to an MSR, so long as the OG Zoned one is still available. Great ideas in this thread.

How strong are we talking here?
 -
Sorry to ask again, but turns out we need a new football coach. Can you help?
 -
Can you get me and my family back the 2 hours we spent in line waiting to ride Jungle Cruise on Monday?

I had someone in a BAF the other day asking how to tell what team they are on. I'm not sure I would be opposed to a "basic skills test" required to go from 49 to 50. Some kind of mission that requires you to pass a team or league star, give an item to someone else, use the map and navigation window, etc. But to the larger point of insta-50s, I'm against it. Get back with me if we start talking about 1 Transcendent per level or somewhere in that neighborhood.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not, but something similar happens to me. Usually if I left click the taskbar, then left click back into the game it fixes itself.

Devs are there any plans to improve league management?
Oklahoman replied to Dazl's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
There are a number of bugs with league management that would be so very helpful, including @Dazl's suggestion. If you right click on a player in a full league there is an option something like "Mark character for league swap" - and as far as I can tell it does nothing. The only solution with a full league is to have someone drop, move people around, then reinvite. The wandering league star has plagued us for ages. Nothing like discovering after you zone in that you aren't the league leader anymore. Teams can swap, too, so the carefully designed team 3 you just created is now team 2. Someone who crashes out of a league may not be able to get back into that instance at all, even if they relog. Sometimes, someone joins and doesn't get sidekicked up to the team leaders level. You either have to move them to another team in the league, or have them drop and reinvite. Hopefully they notice is sooner rather than later. There is some weird alignment bug where you can't invite some people to the league if anyone on the league leaders team is out of zone. But I have also heard tell that particular section of spaghetti code is especially scary, and we may just have to work with it, lest the whole thing break. -

auto-accept license and bypass cut scenes
Oklahoman replied to Xaphiero's topic in General Discussion
I've never verified this, but for BAF I understand that the cutscene is skipped if (1) every character (not player) in the league has already done a BAF and (2) no one uses the door and instead flies over the wall. If someone has verified info on that (like a dev statement?) I'd love to see it.
