Remember confusing the Vazhilok bombers so they'd blow their own team to bits? That was a ton of fun too. -
AI integration with NPC's would be interesting.

No! No it would not. It would almost certainly break our game. What we have works fine. We're very happy playing a game that's survived two decades even having faced some massive challenges. AI is pretty well a bullshit con designed by robbing creators, throwing it into a virtual mixing pot and stealing the good bits for the corporations to use against you. They serve you slop instead of a wage or recompense for the creators. Either way AI is going to bite arses sooner rather than later. Just make sure it's not yours. -

I never knew that. I remember posting about the invisible cows in the chalet on live and that turned into quite a long, and very silly discussion. But I had no idea there were actual cows in the game. Maybe they were Skrulls. -

I'm old enough to remember when you had to earn your auras and capes by doing a mission Hover was mandatory just to survive the Hollows You had to run to Icon in Steel Canyon to get that 2nd costume because you didn't have your travel power Stairs were useful Inf capped out at six million and you could only transfer 99,999 at anyone one time* The most valuable Enhancements were Hami-Os The Hollows arcs were almost mandatory. The alternative was street sweeping Rikti Crash Site PVP worked (kinda) *pretty sure it was 6 mil but I might be mis-remembering slightly -

I feel like I need to make a jazz based toon called "Scat Daddy" just to fuck with the moderators heads! 🤣 -
They are days like any others! I never go to church I'm good with them

here's a wicked Hammond B3 groove to make your day swing!

That'll get you cancelled these days! To be serious, I agree - the utility it provides is great. That said, with Hover it's just a gimp power. Perhaps Combat Teleport marries with Hover and SoS with CJ.... something to mull over. I usually take Combat Jumping as well, as much for the jump as for the additional +Def and the LotG global recharge - so I don't fear those verticals so much. As @roleki also pointed out, with the addition of travel powers from START that's not really an issue in my mind - we're given a jet pack at level 2 these days.

Count me in! My toon is created and ready for action at Ms Flibbertywidget

For shits and giggles!

I'd say that describes my overall experience pretty well thus far

Aside from the fact this is a zombie, I looked at the link and the names are fundamentally iron turds

Worth also mentioning that they have their own discord and are very helpful, so when you have Mids questions, well worth asking there first since you'll be getting a response from the proverbial horse's mouth so to speak.

Other iterations of CoH have tried this once the code escaped into the wild. Being able to pick any power is great - up to a point but game balance and simple understanding of the PC's role in the game is important. If you lose those you effectively have an anarchic mob that doesn't add to enjoyment. Balance is really important because most people will always go for the most power over the most fun and if you can pick any power there becomes a "flavour du jour" that obliterates everything thus ruining the overall game experience for everyone. I absolutely disagree with this statement at almost every level. Whilst I don't necessarily agree with everything our new volunteer devs do, I think they've done an outstanding job at keeping game balance and enjoyment at the forefront of their minds. The game came back from the dead - but that's no reason to trash it like a zombie. It's living, vibrant and constantly evolving and improving. By all means experiment and test new AT types with the existing tech but they have to function within the game's existing parameters or it will just ruin it for almost everyone - and that would be a real tragedy.

Cheers

A Static for leisure and a bit of the absurd.

I can do this - 3pm Eastern is 8pm so that works. Thusday, Friday or Sunday work for me -
I've often thought about something like this. I think as a solo project it would totally blow. Imagine playing a Rad/Storm or Poison/Thermal or somesuch. That would be awful to solo even with the use of Nemesis Staff, Blackwand et al. It would absolutely wreck bosses but somebody else would need to do the damage. The only way to make those characters viable would be to susbstitute a couple of primary powers for attacks of a similar style. One would also have to ensure that a primaries and secondaries could not be the same. A Storm/Storm would be not only chaos - and aside from the point that Steamy Mist wouldn't stack with Steamy Mist the thought of popping Freezing Rain down twice in short succession would ruin the gameplay for anyone even interested in a challenge. I do love the idea but it would need a massive amount of work to make it viable; hence I doubt it has legs. The development and balancing time to make it work would be a huge diversion even for a professional development team let alone a group of volunteers. Having read the OP's subsequent explanations that's basically a detuned controller - higher (de)buffs/support than a controller and weaker control than a controller - that doesn't add much to the game. It's just a weakened Controller with a quirk. Again, lots of dev time for no real aim. Now if you wanted a new AT that brings something really interesting to the game, how about a tanker set allied with a control set... Dark Armour/Darkness Affinity anyone? How about Willpower/Plant? Again, they offer some interesting grooves but would need lots of work to make happen. Something like that would allow a character to get up close and personal, but wouldn't give the control required because it wouldn't have the de/buffs to take on strong foes when solo. Sentinels provide some insight into this - they have had a long and interesting journey but have required a lot of work to come good. The concept is interesting but I think the case needs to be made better.

3-7 what time zone? I could be interested if I could fit it in not certain I feel entirely comfortable with the whole tank thing but... I might get silly with it and swap Taunt for Invisibility
