  1. I've never known that in Linux. I use it for my day2day stuff and have a Windows gaming rig What distro are you using?
  2. Fantastic, thanks very much
  3. that's incredibly useful. I didn't know it was a thing but thank you. But one question: How does it know what is ok? How do I bind it? I think I'd want a clicky in my Power trays?
  4. That's what she said too! Puns and aphorisms aside, this is a problem during the ToT season. The rest of the year less so but when we're checking out totty, usually in some sleazy motel, we keep getting this message; You cannot enter. OK OKAY? No very far from OK Because I'm already struggling to see what the hell is goiong on in my screen with all the FX and costume powers and names and stuffs... so now I've got even more distractions and where the fuck has my mouse pointer buggered off to anyhow? Sometimes that's the biggest issue. It becomes almost a divination ritual just to see where the little spear that shows what I'm meant to be looking at is, so clicking the OK button is now an actually significant challenge. Not the least of which is because some arse of a Supatroll has just barged me out of the way as well. I know I can't get into most doors but it would be lovely if these messages autofaded. I don't know if that's doable but it would be a great help.
  5. I don't usually advocate for XP boosts but this is the perfect opportunity to get some levels on toons that languish for a range or reasons. So yeah, Thanks Devs! Sincerly! 👍 (Sidenote: Should we thanking the shit host for being so shit that we get a reward because our Devs are brill?)
  6. You haven't told us how you feel about this, so as spectators it's very difficult to answer. If you usually only take the smallest available boost of 25% XP, that indicates to me at least that zipping through levels as fast as you wish isn't a priority, so perhaps cancelling it might be a good option while DXP is available. You could also disable XP periodically so you get your full Inf allotment. Ultimately it's up to you and your feels, because you're playing your game in this.
  7. I wonder if that's because DB is lethal damage and batons/cudgels etc are smashing? Perhaps it would require a different power set, repurposing the animations from DB. I'm thinking out loud here a bit Several decades ago I played an AD&D DarkSun campaign where I had a female warror who used +2 Singing Sticks which were effectively two batons that made a noise as you moved them through the air - that was a lot of fun and a great image. I'd love to recreate something like her here.
  8. what is the % chance of a proc firing and is there a way to divine/know this?
  9. I've used both previously, but frankly as individual powers they don't offer enough for me to take them. There are better pool powers that serve my characters!
  10. I like this idea but it needs to be in the Suggestions forum.
  11. There's a lot in this that I don't understand but sounds awful.
  12. That's how the rest of the game runs and it's doing remarkably well for a zombie game. We are community led, so anything lacking is fundamentally on all of us as a collective. We are our own magic wand.
  13. I've never played Diablo - is that a genuine thing? I would never play a game where Permadeath was non-consensual. If I know what I'm getting into and know I have a good chance to survive and a worthwhile reward, sure on some of my characters. Otherwise, no way!
  14. I may be overthinking but I sense a degree of snark here that is unnecessary. If the people in this thread understand the game generally, and PVE in the main and know what they are wishing to achieve from the game and how to get there, then if your statement is correct, that is the fault of PVP and of previous development decisions, rather than of the players themselves. That is in fact one of the big issues with PVP in this game - the mechanics do feel remarkably different to PVE and that in itself can be daunting to many other than perhaps those who focus on PVP. Perhaps this is exactly why PVP is only embraced by such a small percentage of the player base. It's not their understanding at fault it's the convoluted roles and rules in PVP itself I'd argue.
  15. Quick update on this: We're still going strong with a core of 4 regulars and a number of pug members. Still redside, mid-20s, we're doing Paper missions, and the banks, plus the odd SF and related content. Not doing much in the way of events but if anyone else wishes to join us we will be reconvening on Sunday at around 2:30pm Eastern, 7:30pm BST Usual play time is around 2.5 hours give or take. Everyone welcome, sign here or when we shout in game
  16. trouble with that is imfine.exe only runs once then it downloads and installs itoldyouimfuckingfinealready.exe and then blows your PC to bits
  17. Personally I'm a big fan of PVP - when I want to PVP - and that's a very important caveat. I enjoy a lot of the content in the PVP zones, especially Shivans, and Warburg but when I'm there to achieve a specific objective, I don't wanna get ganked by some randos, so I totally get why some would never ever set foot into a PVP zone. PVP has always been the red-headed stepchild in this game. It can be great but it's got some really odd rules and regulations that in many ways turn it upside down - like lower level is often more interesting than fun despite lack of powers etc. My solution would be along the following lines: Make all PVP zones PVE Coop zones - so that players can run and explore missions and environments together without fear of getting ganked or set upon by players who may well be highly OP compared to them. Retain PVP copies of those zones in the Arenas, accessible from them, so that players who wish to PVP can enjoy it without upsetting anyone who doesn't want to be involved. The "rules of engagement" are difficult to fathom; they largely seem to be based around the principle that Defenders are better than anything else and nothing else matters. Blasters in PVP are effectively as useful as a chocolate teapot, which is sad because once they were super good but that's another story. I would like to see the whole damage and debuff scales revisited but I doubt that will happen because it's a) difficult and b) the pushback from players who are unhappy that their favourite PVP toon is a bit less effective will be quite vocal despite it being a minority exercise. But one of the biggest issues with a lack of PVP is that there's very little organized around it. On live I ran the Friday Night Fight Club which was often very well attended and continued long after I ceased to be involved with it but that proved to be a good amount of fun and got engagement. Get more events, and people will learn how much fun PVP can actually be and that isn't going to change until the player base makes it happen.
  18. If you're feeling really brave just try and debug it!
  19. I'm kinda surprised nobody went here:
  20. I'll gladly stand corrected but I think you have to get the contact mission to collect the meteor samples so it looks and feels like a mission even if it actually isn't But good to know! 🙂
  21. I don't believe you can do a different mission whilst in a FB mish. I think they are considered the same way as Task Forces, so you're effectively locked into that task. Best thing to do is get your Shivans before you lock in
  22. Choose the "Phi Ting" option That'll be alright
  23. How you gonna spend yours now?
  24. Much of the answer that works for you is going to depend on your own goals and personal playstyle If you're soloing, XP boots "take the edge off" the levelling process. If you team, they do the same but you typically get more XP simply by dint of being able to knock down more enemies in a given time frame. As others have pointed out, Inf gain is negligible (I don't usually start filling slots until close to 20 unless something useful actually drops) just vending everything that comes my way. My own preference is to not use an XP boost, or at least only use a little one (25% or 50% max) but sometimes I do use 100%ers, for example when I am already familiar with the powers and style of a particular alt and I just need to get to Level X. Some of the lower level content is outstanding and well worth playing through as intended and an XP Boost can break that experience. The main reason for not using XP boosts is because you might get to 50 very quickly and then discover you don't know anything about the game.
