  1. I was waiting and expecting somebody else to do this but...
  2. I've done this, more than once! And this too There's something special about rediscovering a toon that's been "on the shelf" and then realising it's actually a great option and invigorates your game!
  3. Also worth noting that sometimes people doing the unlock mission will occasionally call out in chat in case others want to join them!
  4. I believe you can get the PPP unlock whatever level you are if you are sidekicked to somebody who has the mission itself. If you're on the mission owner's team, you get the reward.
  5. Illustrations of examples would be very useful. It looks like an interesting article - but case studies would be very helpful IMO
  6. I would be greatly in favour of this if it were optional.
  7. that's a euphemism right?
  8. If you can chuck nuns you should also be able to launch monks at range, an air friar if you will
  9. Your reputation precedes you! Get better Mez protection; problem solved
  10. There are a number of powers in TA that deserve a customise option. Despite the above snark it's a popular set and is fun to play
  11. For the record, the tower that holds the bell commonly referred to as Big Ben is the Queen Elizabeth Tower Big Ben is a gurt dinger!
  12. I think we need to address this seriously for a moment The issue here is that we are constrained by game mechanics whereas writers in the Marvel & DC universe can bring stuff to light to meet the moment. Anyone remember Archie Rosen & the Sentry? Reed Richards can always invent a thing to deal with another thing that's threatening a thing he likes. The Illuminati can band together to banish Hulk - kinda Super Boss Avengers. We've had plenty of events. IIRC that's how this game started, with the Rikti invasion, after all (I wasn't here then, but imagine my disappointment when I learned that the Rikti, through amazingly inept strategical thinking, chose the one place where there were a shit tonne of folks who could actually beat them.) We have our Incarnate story which improves our powers a very great deal - whatever you feel about that story and its crafting, those are potentially world changing events in our universe equal to some of the biggest stuff in the Marvel or DC universe. The alternative is something akin to: Day 1 - Rikti show up, stomp everything, defeat all heroes. Game over, NCSoft packs up and goes home. The whole point of the great "World Breaking arcs" is that there is a survivable outcome otherwise you don't get to continue the story. And suddenly "he realised he loved Big Brother"
  13. you'll never get the minutes you spent thinking that one up back again! I hope it was worth it 🤣
  14. Well that's good enough I guess 🙂
  15. How do you know if something blooms in late game? I do get what you're saying - some combos just feel underwhelming when you first pick them up and again, a lot depends on playstyle, AT preference etc. Good example - I love Kinetic Melee. One of the few tanks I've ever taken to 50 is a KM/Rad and I love it. Are there better ones out there? Undoubtedly. But it's way better (for me) than my WP/Dark or the couple of other variants I've tried. But most will probably say "KM is junk, don't use it" and they might be right but I really enjoy mine.
  16. I'd say if you decide you don't like the set on a DFB run you've hardly given it a fair shake. My personal feeling is that you can't tell how good (or bad) a set is going to be until you're about 30ish. But on the other hand I have little compunction against deleting a toon whatever its level from 1 to 50. I agree we all have different play styles so if somebody feels they just can't... then fine. Their game and nobody should be forced to do something they don't like during a leisure activity but I would caution against deletion unless you've made a chronic mistake build mistake (for example picking a wrong power and the respec cost is greater than the remake value) or just "ehhhhhh, not enjoying" - but the better remedy for that may be a shelf for a while then a revisit. After all, it's not like we're short of slots!
  17. That's a different argument. If you're advocating to make Synapse shorter, it should be a suggestion in the correct forum. That's not what you said in your original post. I am not against changes to Synapse in a limited fashion (pruning a couple of missions and editing text accordingly would be a good option IMO) but your entire original post implied that either you wouldn't, or couldn't run Synapse and thus missed the reward. The reward is what it is as the game currently stands. It's not breaking stuff to take time to get the achievement. Also, for the record, I quite enjoyed the way the OG devs took time out of the game in such creative ways. The two lines was a good option especially at mid-level content. No fly until 14, having to make sure you stayed close to your mentor when sidekicked, especially when doing silly stuff like running to Serge in Steel Canyon, having to actually do a mission to earn your cape and aura. I didn't hate any of that. None of those are game breaking and I think that some of the new dev spoonfeeding has a negative impact on the game as is, but I recognise I'm in a minority so I don't shout about it.
  18. a journey of 1000 levels starts with a single faceplant!
  19. That's your opinion. Sure, you and some might not like it - MSR is usually very well supported and Synapse gets run regularly, so that's a "you" problem not a game problem. My wider point is that there is content that gives a reward. If you don't want to do the content, don't expect to get the reward. If you aren't prepared to put any time and effort in, why should you get the benefits that such time and effort gives anyone else who does play it?
  20. Destroy All Battallion Stop the new invasion in its tracks and level 35 and move on to something worthwhile instead
  21. If you're judging a character's performance on the DFB you're not giving it a chance. The whole point of DFB is to get a solid XP boost to get you past the starting levels in a hurry. It's not meant to be too testing, but to get your character to a level when you can start evaluating the whole character in the round. If you delete it at such an early stage you'll never know how well it would bloom at later levels.
  22. Thanks for your input I'm thinking it might be a mask - my thoughts so far have been that it largely subsumes the wearer's personality so they are conscious of what's going on but unable to prevent any actions (therefore not guilty if it does something terrible.) They are the vehicle for the mask just like our cars are for us. That might set up future revenge stories "The Mask did this to me... " so they go out to get powers to take it on and destroy it (or maybe they love the power it gave them which is now an addiction) I think of it as amoral, rather than good or evil. It accumulates power so it's attracted to powerful individuals but it's lain dormant for so long it has to recover its power. (levelling up) I think the human vehicles are like pack mules - they have a consciousness but almost no autonomy while under its power. It might be difficult for it to persuade a previous vehicle to give it a ride again. These points are fine, and interesting but difficult to know how to slot it in game.
