I seem to have a lot of junk on many of my toons. Recipes that are near to worthless but if I make them into an IO set enhancement, they become even more worthless and convert to something equally valueless. Salvage I can mostly deal with, as I can with most common IO recipes but I still end up with some of those I've crafted that can't be sold, have little use value and my aversion to the sunk cost fallacy makes it hard for me to dispose of without a regretful sigh and/or a wince. Then there's Incarnate Shards and their associative crap. That shit really annoys! Once your Alpha is T4 slotted, why would you ever need them again and yet they cling to us like some kind of ghost parasite, not actually doing anything but accumulating in inventory and silently judging us for hating them. They are horrid and I loathe them but I am usually too broke to throw away a million inf to create threads... which don't seem to offer a massive benefit in and of themselves. Once I've got T4 in everything then what... Superuninsiprings? Luna was a lovely girl in life, in game and it's a poor legacy for her to be vending upscale junk. Recipes confuse. If I craft something that looks ok it invariably sells for a lot less than it appeared when I was researching if I should make it. Standard IOs... I get there are some uses in game for some of them. but many many are just crap we don't need, want or value. Sure I can sell the recipe at a vendor but once it's crafted (which invariably costs way more than buying it on the AH) if it has no immediate use, it languishes, taking up space, like that fat guy you know but hate, who seems to think that you like him and comes to sit on your couch without interacting much and you wonder why they are even in your life! YES! THAT IS HOW ANNOYING SOME OF THIS JUNK IS! It's got me fat-shaming IOs! Common Salvage is mostly a PITA. I know the stuff I want to hoard. Luck Charms and some other uncommon magical white salvage but the rest is less useful than an actual inanimate carbon rod (you can draw pictures with them and conduct electricity, after all!) I could make some empowerment buffs in my base but if I'm at high Resistance anyhow there seems to be little advantage. I have it in mind that the crafting tables in bases made some interesting stuff but they got turned into ornaments, which is sad for a few reasons but it seems to me they could be turned into a thing to "disassemble" crafted stuff that doesn't have much value post-manufacture. It might give us back the recipe and components - even if we didn't get the cash we used to make it. But then maybe people would just buy shit in the AH and disassemble unless that was somehow restricted. Of course I could just throw stuff away. But I don't like doing that, I earned it, after all. And like many older folks I tend to hoard stuff even if I don't want it. So what am I supposed to do?

I dipped into a game I've not played for a long while this week. I was always a fan of the original Dungeon Keeper, despite janky bitmap graphics et al but I loved War for the Overworld even more, despite it being a tribute/clone/homage. I keep forgetting there's a level in the game that always gives me a BFG - it's a whole bunch of skeletons and necromancers running around causing mayhem. That mission is titled "Go Hunt. Kill Skuls" That's the biggest grin of all. The fact that an homage is giving a nod to another game that I love even more seems to give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe we don't need to be spending close to £75 a pop for the latest games (of course on the latest rigs, cuz they don't look right otherwise) we just need great gaming experiences and fun communities. The odd in-joke won't hurt too much either!

I'm thinking that many forum software providers have their own stack of emoticons/reactions etc and there are a ton of them out there - if you've ever installed a forum system on cPanel you will see many choices and those are just the free options. My presumption is that there's a whole stack of them provided by the software developers here; https://invisioncommunity.com/features/community-participation/ I think your version of DOOOM! might be too (TM) for the HC team. I did once have audio I recorded of Kerensky (one of the great EU CCs on live) saying it live, but I don't think that would work as a quick emote. Perhaps something like a green bullhorn might make a suitable alternative.

Experimentation: Speed of Sound gives you the fast TP and you've got the toxic dar and corrosive vial to create the after effects of BAMF Street Justice/Dark Armor would work nicely as powersets

A thought struck me earlier. I know, awesome right? It doesn't happen often. Fortunately my +Res was sufficient to deflect it and I went about my business unperturbed. Self-disparagement aside, I was thinking about reactions which got me thinking about the anniversary of Homecoming's "Officialdom" - when it became officially sanctioned by NCSoft and we no longer had to hide or fear that our game may be taken away suddenly again. I remember it was January of last year and that's further back than I initially thought. I had to check. I thought perhaps that event should be celebrated annually somehow but we might have skipped the moment. That's somehow digression. I do remember that we got a whole new bunch of reactions with that change. I have it in mind they tended to change more regularly than they have until then and they've been largely (afaicr) pretty static since. Is it time for a refreshment? A change of pace? a little different look and feel to our rapid responses and acknowledgements? I guess I'm thinking it might be a good thing else I wouldn't have posted. I'm marginally on the side of change, but that's largely for change's sake. What say you all?

How many times did you run through the wedding event?Scarlet Shocker replied to Apogee's topic in General Discussion I agree with Healix, but I've got to say in my experience, you're in a minority of maybe one! It's good that you do though. I think one problem with this game generally is given its age, most players are veterans and thus know most of the content by rote, They expect everyone else to know as much as them, so play accordingly. Generally that's ok but when some of us don't know it by heart it's very easy to get left behind, doubly so in a team not big on communications. It's a small price to pay for having the game, but it can be a bugbear. It is however, one very good reason for enjoying "steady runs" - going at the pace of the slowest team members, and taking in the sights along the way. Personally that's how I like to play - but then I'm too damned old to be teararsing around like a 18 year old on speed.

How many times did you run through the wedding event?Scarlet Shocker replied to Apogee's topic in General Discussion Summer Blockbuster is really good. I like it a lot. BUT... and it's a very big but (I cannot lie) I totally get where you're coming from there. People tend to speed run it whooosh-stylie, leaving novices behind with an itchy head and WTF in their minds. That said I do know people who have run at a good pace and then it's enjoyable and rewarding. Good luck in getting it going sometime.

How many times did you run through the wedding event?Scarlet Shocker replied to Apogee's topic in General Discussion I would usually run two per toon, and ended up with about 100 CCs

If you have a bad experience on one server, don't play on it. We've got 5 to choose from. I'm curious why you felt the need to relocate if you were happy. One thing I didn't get from your post is what your personal goals are. I've played on all servers and I choose them according to my need and goals. I'd add that you have 1000 slots per server and you get 5 swap tokens per.,, week(? somebody please confirm refresh rate) so you can take toons across. My own personal experience is that Excelsior farmers tend to be uber-focused on their goals so you may not get the best response to meet your needs. Try something different. Maybe? I have been playing on Excel recently because I've been farming Cupid and that worked exceptionally well for me. I am not naturally a farmer - my shortfalls are less about inf than about merits etc. Do what works for you.

New player : Things I have learned levels 1-25Scarlet Shocker replied to JMacClear's topic in General Discussion Clearly this is such a positive assessment of the game I can say only one thing to the OP: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! whatever it is, however you do it, that is clearly not the way. Do something else instead. No I won't tell you what to do, you have to work it out yourself. But on a more serious note, welcome to one of the best games in computer gaming history. You've landed on your feet and I wish you many hours of joy and fun.

I actually think Spirit Tree works fine as is. I cannot speak to Triage Beacon because I've less experience with it but one of the biggest issues with this game is powers creep. They work. They are useable, skippable and slottable to your preference. You can use is as you will without a need for it to be buffed or given extra powers. It's clear that those who have posted in this thread who do not take it that they don't seem to be missing much but others who do take it appreciate the benefits it gives. There's also some middle ground so I'd suggest that the power is in exactly the sweet spot: It works. It isn't a "must have" pick and is skippable if you want. If your play style determines you should take it... then do so. If not... Personally I almost always take it. That's my play. Yours may differ and that's perfectly ok. Don't change the power

	she's been nobbled!

I think I've seen that on a couple of maps, where they seem to be somehow incomplete and broken. I think mostly the missions ended quickly so it wasn't an issue, but my memory is hazy

How do we pronounce Manticore?Scarlet Shocker replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion Manticore Dickory Dock Justin Sinclaire's such a cock He got in some strife and murdered his wife but never got put in the dock

yes, but your stupid clown soon cheered it up again!

I think this discussion says more about playstyle than power efficacy. If you move fast and plough ahead you're probably not going to find Spirit Tree or any static power to be of great benefit - especially if you don't want to destroy all in your path. But if like me you're a player who prefers to go steady, get all the xpees you can then it's a great benefit. Horses for courses so to speak. As always that's one of the great things about this game that I don't experience so much in others - I can play may way.
