  1. I read that modern journalism really took off due to....Jack the Ripper! For the first time in history a good percentage of the populace could read (Victorian era Londoners) and they could not get enough stories about Jack. So the little broadsheets became very popular, along with their ads. Tabloid journalism launched it all.
  2. Damn you. I tried clicking on that three times before I got it. *shakes old vampire fist at comp screen!
  3. Modern journalism is circling the drain. Whatever happened to reporters like Olivia Starr? I just read a short article with the attention grabbing title "‘Star Wars’ fans left spooked as they realize a memorable Han Solo line didn’t actually happen" It was short, 5 paragraphs. NEVER mentioned the line. Makes you want to beat somebody to death with an Olympia.
  4. The only Japanese people I ever socialized with were at Dojos, and it was pretty casual while being strangely formal. The exception was a pal I had in my late teens. We hung out for almost two years together. He was a trouble maker from a good family....so they shipped him to America. We drank beer and did some street racing, and various strange substances as we found them. We were even stupid enough to drive to Compton to score weed. More than once. Basically I know almost nothing about the japanese culture. I asked him to teach me Japanese (we were in the same damn martial arts class) and he flatly refused. I believe what we might be seeing is pure greed disguised as "brand X nationalism" I think there is a lot of that in the world. When you are being a truly greedy shit a great way to distract people is wave a flag around.
  5. There is actually a ton of this stuff. Granted, a lot of it (Im looking at you Blueside) is very repetitive While i would personally love what you are talking about I know resources (time) is limited. Although if some of the AE content already written could be tidied up and could get assigned to a “real world” contact that would be awesome.
  6. People, enough with the hero worship. I know I am incredible. That is enough. Your adoration, while heartfelt, actually is a little repulsive to me. You come across as needy, and slightly unintelligent. Step up! Step the F off!
  7. All my posts are stupid. I hide NOTHING.
  8. It's an old pic of my set up. I finally hung the monitor on the wall and built a couple of desks to support the L shaped glass tops. Quite a bit more room now actually.
  9. If you people will not get back on point I swear I will turn this thread around and we'll go home!
  10. It's a little smaller than my setup...
  11. I do not give a shit about your opinion enough to lie.
  12. All I have are silly positions that are more or less designed to instigate discussion. Of late I have seen people I truly despise get their comeuppance in the me too era. Good riddance. Especially funny if they go broke or get prison time. I have seen people I truly think are remarkably talented seem to go a little off the rails. (John Cleese....Do you have a publicist? A PR person...get one!) I have seen people I really enjoy as performers just get knocked loopy. Bill Murray. Sigh. You gotta know I love this performer. Personally, while I think (and my opinion is valueless) that he has some boundary issues I still believe he is a good guy. A great guy even. i know from hanging out with Ukase that he is not misogynistic. There is a woman lawyer who is part of his regular weekly group! Anyone can think something in their head and have it come out wrong when they say it. In their head they know they mean no offense. I think this may have sounded a bit flat on the old music scale. If anyone here is always perfect now is the time to get those big rocks and start warming up.
  13. How dare you infer all god forsaken boomers are sexist? Where the F do you get off? If you do not know I can tell you...
  14. Given the technical difficulties AND the time crunch AND the fact that (sigh) most people will want them and the badges…. I agree (not that my opinion counts for much) with the decision to drop the things on live. Hard call but good call
  15. looks like my baby pic
  16. Wait, ....is this the green attorney?
  17. I was told once how many social connections a human brain can handle. I forget the exact number, but it is not a lot. I want to say in the 700-800 range? That data has long slipped into "never going to be tested on it" storage. My point in bringing this up is that this forum is a world. Not the "real" world. Not the "game world" It is an not quite enclosed community. With noisy neighbors. Trash collectors. Scavengers. Thieves. Police. Teachers. Bus drivers. Poets. Philosophers. Experts. Sometimes a thief will be a poet....when they are not fulfilling their duties as a cop.... The world is not what you make it. It is what WE make it. Humanity's greatest and most terrible power. Yes, that sometimes means a battlefield too.
  18. Well then Mistuh advertising exec you is missing da point. If you do not like the new 50....reroll it the next time a token is available. Hey! In TWO WEEKS! Bazinga!
  19. It was envisioned (i suppose) as a way to keep a super team balanced as they progressed through content but allow for some individual romping off to do whatever when their friend was not on. In practice it was a farm method and it has broken everything everywhere everytime it was used
  20. A Leveling Pact is a feature introduced in Issue 13 (and disabled in Issue 21 after changes to the Sidekick system had reduced the need for it) and an innovation to MMORPGs; this system allows two players to create new characters (or use existing low-level characters) and have their experience be permanently synced, whether or not both characters are online. They will always be the same level, even if one pactmate plays ten times more often than the other.
  21. They were Levelling pacts.
  22. There is a note at the beginning of the thread that these EBs are only supposed to trigger for teams. They were unable to complete that coding in time for the event. It is on the schedule for next year
  23. Dark Dark knows what it's done... Seriously though. Taking as a pairing it is a grab bag of crap that has zero synergy. As stated above, Touch of the Beyond is one of the worst sustains in Blasters. Soul Drain is the worst build up in Blasters. Taken together the mix of PBAoE, cones, and variation in ranges makes it lopsided to try to find where you are supposed to run combat from. You have a damage aura. But you need to keep moving to line up cones. the ranges on your ST are all different, and different from your cones. Dark Pit is useless in the modern game, and a damned expensive useless thing at that. Half this crap isnt even worth taking to mule stuff on a build. The entire thing is a shit show. If you take it for anything besides a Dark concept toon you will be miserable. On a Dark concept toon you will be happy with the concept and feel like you have sandpaper underwear and nails in your shoes each combat. It is an uncomfortable mess.
  24. Not for years. But my SG runs some casual stuff once or twice a week
