  4. sigh. I hate to say this. (I love to say this!) Learn to play! Get off my lawn! seriously you want a Blaster. You just do not want the current builds. You want a conservative build made for the game as it was back on live.
  5. Good luck on the bughunter badge!
  6. Building for +range on dark/dark is nice, but definitely a third tier goal in my opinion. Why? first, it is good. It helps extend the cones. Any +range gives more flexibility overall. Bad points, until you get used to cones it is easy to agro a second group with a long cone. You line up the perfect shot. And get the pack behind the group you were aiming for as well. Sometimes too much. Slapping in i/o that do not reinforce 1st and 2nd tier build goals is many times counterproductive. Lastly, as much as I love range Dark/Dark/Soul is naturally hanging out at 40-60. +range will not change that much. You need to be close enough to jump in for the Nuke, the End bar refill, and Soul Drain. You need to be out far enough to let the narrow cones get wide before they hit a group, help with aiming, stay out of melee attack range and give less of an AoE target profile. Building for softcap ranged defense. Oh, yeah... That is one of the first build priorities I have. Softcap Ranged defense and a smart playstyle will allow you to still be doing damage long minutes into a tough tough fight. You can build for damage, proc it out, and have a terrific Alpha. But if you have to run, eat inspirations like candy, or pick yourself up off the ground your DPS goes to ....zero. I can go in before a tank (thanks stealth) hit tier 9 Nuke. (has massive to hit debuff) sometimes soul drain after if still a lot of mobs left. Then zip out to a good spot to lay down cones or start a ST burn down chain. I can do this when a team has no tank. All while dealing Blaster DPS. Not Proc Fire Fire Blaster DPS, but still Blaster DPS. Here is a neat bit of logic. You only need so much Defense before chasing any more becomes less useful. Here is a neater bit of logic. You can only kill a mob to a certain amount of deadness. After that they do not get any more dead. No more experience. No more drops. Nothing. My dark/Dark/Soul Blaster only has two damage Procs. It was built for softcap ranged defense and a playstyle that uses knowledge as a weapon. Knowing where mobs will be. Knowing how tough mobs are. Knowing who to kill. Knowing who to slap holds on. (Looking at you Victoria robots, Paragon protectors....) Sure, there are Blasters out there that kill faster. But I can get into a place and fight a long battle where that type of Blaster cannot kill fast enough to survive. Once I agro something I am debuffing its accuracy. I keep it away from me so it has to get through my ranged defense. I have a heal that is part of a decent high ST DPS chain. I win those wars of attrition. Then i let stealth fall back over me and go see where the team needs the next nuke placed.
  7. This is more or less what my faulty memory was saying. However i encountered someone (who i believe) saying a bombardment or artillery (forget which one) was giving set bonuses at level 4!
  8. i had a "belief" about how set bonuses work as you exemplar down. but some sets do not seem to be conforming to these rules. can someone (everyone?) post what the rules are for set bonuses as you exemplar down.

    Hover blaster?

One of your points appears to be since it does not have melee attacks it does not make a good hover blaster. I am confused a lot in life. This statement is just not helping
  10. I do not enjoy the socio political subtexts with hard coded underlying philosophical good choices and bad choices. Feels like forced, clunky, rats in a lab maze with one final destination dreck to me
  11. I only use multiple builds very rarely. For instance on my Farmer. My farm build is very good…against one specific custom built group of enemies. So i have a “standard” build for the character that does task forces and regular missions.

  14. Any chance you will stuff your head far up an elephants butt? That way you can really talk deep crap. Right now you just seem so shallow. Look, I get that you have a problem with my build, my strategy. and probably my personality. maybe you should go find a thread where you like what people are doing. wouldnt want you to have to traipse through all this stuff you do not enjoy. That would be terrible. Dark, dark, dark....
  15. I posted the invul/ss tank because i had recently opened it. I have an alternate invul/dark tank (very very similar) that is more survivable due to the heal in dark melee and the to hit debuffs. But honestly anything in the neighborhood of the build i posted (Hyperstrikes design, credit to an incredible builder) is really untouchable. The crap that can come at this level of build is stuff that is unavoidable and non mitigatable such as Hami, Battle Maiden in TinPex and Lightning Crackle in Magisterium. Those are best Tanked. Y ery high Health Regen oriented builds propped up by League buffs and Empaths

  17. What cones does this have that i do not have?
  18. Finally a place my Storm/Water Blast with no KB mitigation will get some love. Bill, add Snarknado to your team. Problem solved
  19. I did get to one of the CoH sites set up at a Comic Con back in the day. Although (damned memory) I forget if it was San Diego, Portland, or Seattle. I need a new chipset.
  20. You are doing it wrong. No other way to say it. Was asked once. Did you mean Fire Armor? Because Fire Armor in a Fire farm, even on SOs, is fine. Maybe not at +4/x8 but decent at +1/x8. Then you can start to get bank and build I/O. Check forums (or i am sure a couple nice folks here posted farm builds) and get one. People ise these things to AFK farm. They load in then go watch youtube. If you cannot actively farm with one….
  21. I think one of the richest players ( definitely two of the richest i know) have various buy cheap sell at market value strategies whether this is ethical, whether it pro ides a service by keeping the flow going, whether they do any converting or upgrading before relisting is not important the simple point is they do make a gigantic haul doing this that dwarfs farming
  22. I just did all Goldside Arcs on a mid 20s Blaster through Ouro. for the badges. The character has stealth at a very early level. It was still long but at least it only took days not weeks. On a Brute, fighting through that stuff? yeesh. But yeah, staying off the train tracks was way easier than fighting the train. Damned punishing for anyone who cant cram stealth onto their build however.
  23. I do not run Blue other than for badges. Redside, for me, is best side. While Goldside is newer the nonstop politics is exhausting. To me. Redside is pure. There is no "arresting" You go out there and take whatever you want, the way you want. The first contacts Redside lay it all out. Work with Arachnos, but watch your back. OR pretend to work with Arachnos, while doing your own thing, but watch your back. OR avoid Arachnos by doing content that they are only involved with as background lore. Plenty of that. Your villain, your choice. Take what you can, give nothing back. Blueside. Arrest people. Pretend you are not searching their pockets every time you arrest them. Or maybe you have a Hero debit card that is remotely rewarded every time you beat the crap out of a street thug? Hmmm....heroic. So many bad arcs. So many impossible to discern whether the contact is the same as another contact with same missions but just put in by the Devs for....whatever reason. So many blech plot lines. If you call that plot. Goldside. Hey, why don't you spend a few days getting deeply involved in social politics? Philosophy 101 moral choices that are all slanted to one clear choice but pretend it is really a choice? Endless ambushes in missions that are way harder than any other content for the same level range? So much content squeezed into 20 levels you have to run most of the stuff with experience shut off. Good times. Redside. Villains. Don't feel like a villain? Run the Arc where you kidnap Paragon citizens for live vivisection by Vahzilok minions. Rob a few banks. Wipe out a few ships full of arachnos agents (but keep it quiet, no one needs to know) Defeat a thousand Longbow. Defeat. Not arrest. Villains. Yeah.
  24. Most of Cosmic Council's fights against Tyrant in Really Hard Way are not extended. Our last run was not a full League. 17 if I remember right. Not our best damage League by far. But with the strategy used Tyrant was down in about a minute. I much prefer burning the inspirations (I am not short on Inf or threads) and getting the job done rather than be frugal and battle him for a long drawn out battle. Once the Lores drop due to time or multiple deaths it just get harder and harder.
  25. Imbalanced feels like an awkward word choice. Unbalanced? Imperative? Excelsior!!!!! I do not love farming. Never have. I have started to like farming in very certain instances. 1) when using my alt acct farmer to PL a main account new toon 2) when helping out someone who i feel needs/deserves the help of some AE farm doorsitting. 3) when a bunch of my SG mates happen to be farming and we take 4-8 farmers in and just eat maps It is very fast cash. I still do not love it. I would rather play for fun. Cash flows
