Which ATs or specific power sets are most in need of a review?
KaizenSoze replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Nice, always interesting what pops out in these discussions. Yes, one advantage that Widows have over Super Reflexes. They have very high psi resists. -
Another tip. Team Transport works as long as the alignments are not to mixed. Like hero and villain on the same team. The odd one out has to use the Kallisti tram. If they zone, TT can start to work. I am not sure of all the non working combos, but villains seems to be the worst off. As usual.

I knew there was a thread with numbers for the scaling resists. See below. Keep in mind that scaling resists do not give any toxic or psi resists. That might be why you're thinking it is not working. Also, there is a delay before it kicks in, which leaves you open to getting two slotted. -
I don't have a ton of Dual Blades experience. If you only aim for two combos like Empower and Sweep like I did on my Stalker. You can lay all the attacks in one tray from 1-6 in combo order.
-
I would not go as far as to call it trash. My experiences with Dual Blades are post page 3, still they have been pretty underwhelming. I have tried the stalker and scrapper versions on the beta server. Even all tricked out, it's just ok damage-wise. I find the constant attention required to what combos are available and the constant adjustments to maximize the cones tiring. Stalkers lose the Cone +DoT on the Attack Vitals chain even the wiki kind of implies it has a cone. City of data shows that it does not. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Dual_Blades https://cod.uberguy.net./html/power.html?power=stalker_melee.dual_blades.special_1&at=stalker Also, even though the ATO build proc helps. I dropped the Sweep combo for Empower, because both are dependent on Build up. It does have decent AOE starting at level 26 with good two cones. Though one of the cones has a 3.3 second cast time.

Market Crash is one of the Weekly Strike Targets. Two tips that not everyone knows. In the last mission, the hospital is in zone near the entrance. You can hospital then jump down the cliff back into the big robot fight. No need to run through the tunnels. Tips about Super Stunners:

Which ATs or specific power sets are most in need of a review?

I have always liked your idea of just adding more endurance. It solves a lot of the Widow power costs with minimal changes. There are powers issues that extend beyond endurance cost. But I think I have beaten that drum enough. -
Thanks to Faultline responding to another thread on how to get the Pentad badge with just two players. It still can be very glitchy, but I have got to work with four times: Faultline said you should use the same AT, but I find it works better with two different ATs Player one, setup custom pentad, victory conditions are flexible. I just use kills 1 Invite player two Press start then wait a second or two. If the count down does not start. Switch to free form then back to custom pentad Press start button then wait a second or two. Repeat free form to custom pentad. Start. Until it works. If it does not work after five tries, both players quit the event and try again. Consider switching character if possible after ten tries. I can usually get it to work in under five. Once, it works one players defeats the other, or quits. The non-quiting player needs to wait inside the match until the badge appears. Example setup below

Which ATs or specific power sets are most in need of a review?

Not to quibble too much. If they are going to take advantage of their 105% melee damage modifier they have to get in close. Doms secondaries don't provide a lot support, the ones that do, like Psionic Assault are popular. So, doms have to rely on domination for mezz protection and endurance. There have been threads in dom forum were the general agreement was that doms are wimpy before perma. I find that to be a major design issue. All for a healthy discussion about domination. I have 3 level 50 doms and I just don't enjoy them due to the reliance on perma dom. -

Yes, the need for one power to be perma for an entire AT to be effective is bad design. There are some suggestion in the Dom forums about alternate takes on Domination. -

Yes, the character started as a Wolfbane. Then I switched to mace after getting annoyed by the poor single target. This is one of my Bane builds in action in Trapdoor. -

Order of VEAT power IMHO: Fortunata, they are what dominators should have been Crabbermind, if you like pets build, which I don't, in the right hands they are monsters. Some would say better than MMs. Banes, good single target damage, good AOE,-resists, def, resists. Great support melee build. Huntspiders, Bane or Crab. AOE machine, -resist, great support. Poor single target damage is the reason they are this low. Night WIdows, dog poop AOE, expensive claw attacks. No VEAT is bad. But in the current game meta they need help. Their only saving grace is that they can be made incredibly durable. -

We really need to talk. You're obviously doing something wrong, at least with your Fortunatas. Go check out the Trapdoor thread in the scrapper forum. Fortunatas are up there with the best times. I have a Night Widow build that can complete an 801.2 under the two hour limit. Though I will admit it's not a fun build in regular play. If you tried to level a Night Widow normally, then yes that is probably the most painful way to level a VEAT. Hence, why I think they need some improvements. Fortunatas are much easier to level. Wolfspiders are probably the best out of the box w/o IOs. All VEATS suffer somewhat from not awesome until IOs, but after IOs they almost all serviceable to awesome from 1-50. -
Mistress Tarantulas, because of the massive -def Dark Ring Mistresses, because of the debuffs. I would go after the Master Illusionist first, but the phasing makes the other boss quicker to take out. Sorcerers Sappers Roman surgeons

Yes, that is on my short list of improvements. If crabs get those attacks, banes should their own version. Imagine if Web Cocoon fired as fast as Fort:Dominate. 🙂 -

I agree that Fortunatas don't need any buffs. If the Night Widow claw and ranged attacks get an endurance review that would probably indirectly fix Forts end issues. They could make separate copies of the shared attacks and only the buffs to the Night Widow version and I would be fine with that. I have come to think that Banes are a bit under appreciated. They are AOE machines providing -resist, toHit, and defense. They are a decent soloer and a great support melee build. -
What is your prioritized list and why? HEATs - Overly complicated, severe slot and power starvation, giant mezz or psi holes. Sentinels - Great till 50. Then fall off badly compared to other ATs. Inherit needs review. VEAT - Yeah, I am biased here. There are serious issues with endurance costs and powers strength on some builds.

VEAT Inherent Change: Dominion of Arachnos
KaizenSoze replied to MidnighterClubPatron's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
*pulls out soapbox* *prepares strongly opinionated post* I would be alright if they just improved the inherit, but... Some of the sub-ATs still need some love. None of them are bad, but Night Widows need a little help. Even more then Banes I think now. Banes are very good solo and in teams, as long as they take venom and frag nades. It's pretty much all the AOE they need. Pure mace Banes are ok, but struggle solo much more than offensive Night Widows. Banes main issues are re-draw and the mace ranged attacks are very poor. Night Widows have dog poop for AOE in their base powers and completely dependent on Patron pools for even decent AOE. Also, their single target is only a little better than Fortuanas. Their main benefit to a team is 20+% def and 30+ psi resists, something a Fort does almost as well. Some people have suggested adding a "Power Mastery" pool, but that would rob Night Widows of decent AOE. Night Widow's only advantage over Forts is durability. Look at my Night Tank builds in the VEAT forum. It can complete an 801.2 and the first two missions of a 4x8 ITF in melee. I do have plans to solo the ITF. But the tank build is only useful in very hard content, gives up a lot of damage, taunting is just ok, a scrapper with a damage aura would do as well, but might not survive. The build is a slog to play in normal content, feels like a pure mace bane in terms of speed. Night Widows need something to make them on par with Fortunatas. I have ideas that I captured in a suggestion thread in the VEAT forum. At the very least, that dog poop T9 they get needs improvement or replacement and of course the endurance issues due to expensive claw attacks. I am open to suggestions as always. Side note, I don't mention Crabs, because I don't play them. They just don't fit my play style. Also, I have vet 100+ Night Widow, Bane, and 300+ vet Fort. So, I do have a lot of play time and understanding. *puts soapbox away* -
VEAT Inherent Change: Dominion of Arachnos
KaizenSoze replied to MidnighterClubPatron's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Not against the DOT idea as long as it does not effect no notify powers like confuse and aura of confusion. I am still working slowly on a spread sheet to document how expensive Widow claw attacks are compared to other ATs. I have never in my life had as many end issue even with green SOs when I leveled my Night Widow. Even with full IOs and minimal procs, ageless is still required for long fights. Only cardiac can curb the end issues. -
I like that the live dev messed up balance. Balance in other games is the iron triangle of tank/support/damage. Otherwise, I would not have enjoyed this game coming from Everquest.

Why is Infiltration The Stepchild?
KaizenSoze replied to Aurora_Girl's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So, I hate super speed. It's me, not you super speed. I have to take it some times because I have run out of other options. I am just bad at running that fast. I seem to hit everything and the lack of airborne control drives me nuts. Infiltration gives me enough speed, control, and stealth when paired with the celerity piece. -
You say the above, but before you say "And I'll stick with my "reduce all proc damage by 75%" line." So, it does bothers you somehow or you wouldn't suggest such a draconian nerf. We keep rehashing this topic and nothing comes of it. I personally think the devs have made their minds up. The new challenge settings are their answer to the power balance issues. Some powers will get adjusted, but overall I think the current procs system is here to stay. Also, I suspect new AOE powers will have curtails on procs. See how they handled procs in the new AOE placate.
-
And here we go again. How does procs negatively effect you? Are you being denied teams? Can't solo your favorite TFs w/o procs? I mean there are so many LFG calls only asking for proc'ed out builds. /sarcasm

I have to thank this thread for reminding to try infiltration again. It's great the way it is. I have respec'ed out of super speed and stealth into infiltration. Much happier now.
