Jaro Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 Hi all, im looking for a Spines/Fire build for farming. Could someone paste a Pine plan by chance? If possible something that can be extended as this girl has to earn some of the money herself :) Maybe exchange oranges later by purples :) Thanks for helping! Playing the Loons together with my GF on Excelsior, mine are usually Cleo's or Jaro's. Global handles: @Jaro @Mistress Cleo @Jaro Loon Anyone know a good doctor to treat Altoholic?
HelenCarnate Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 Farming what? General build that can handle most actual content or cheeze AE farms that only deal fire damage?
Sapphire Lotus Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I am as well interested in a more general content build at 50.
Jaro Posted May 19, 2019 Author Posted May 19, 2019 Well, this is an excellent question :) I wouldn't mind to look at both, but it is mainly made as farmer to help with inf and levels. Next project will be a tank for teaming ;) Playing the Loons together with my GF on Excelsior, mine are usually Cleo's or Jaro's. Global handles: @Jaro @Mistress Cleo @Jaro Loon Anyone know a good doctor to treat Altoholic?
HelenCarnate Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Just threw this together in a hurry so have not checked every detail but my all around would look something like this. Soft capped S/L and Melee defense. Decent recharge but with incarnate stuff can make perma hasten. It would be an end hog but again, incarnate stuff fixes that and you have consume. Also if you are farming you should be getting enough inspiration drops to pop blues now and then if needed. Now this is stupidly expensive but something like that is what I would probably shoot for. For pure fire farming cheese you really don't need to spend much. Just keep a good supply of purples to keep you at soft cap for defense. I am just running a SO with some basic IOs, no sets and am up to 43 and have been running at +4, 8 since mid 20s. Nightmarer Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Can't remember exactly how did that Destiny power worked but if I am not mistaken, it was losing efficacy gradually so I think you won't be able to manage your massive endurance consumption. Also, your build lacks ST dmg so it may not be the best idea for farming groups with bosses in, you'd better select no bosses on your notoriety. You softcapped melee def, which is good but I think you should have softcapped S/L def, which is even better. No need to slot Taunt with Acc (that's for pvp only plus, no need of Taunt at all) and maybe that extra slot you did not allocate should be invested in a Kismet +Acc to make up for the lack of accuracy in the Kinetic Combat sets. I see a very expensive build with a few overkills on some things and lacking on other things such as accuracy or HP. Resistances look awesome but then I realized they are like that with Hybrid slot. Does that Hybrid toggle work 100% of the time? if not, you probably better stick to fire dmg enemies with no bosses. I would personally sofctap S/L def, boost acc, res and HP and get serious management on the endurance consumption front.
Jaro Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. I see your points and will tweak it accordingly. I am not sure about Mu, maybe better stay with the Energy pool to keep rocking. :) Playing the Loons together with my GF on Excelsior, mine are usually Cleo's or Jaro's. Jaro Posted May 24, 2019 Author Posted May 24, 2019 Thanks everyone!!! And I really liked your build, darkling. Looks very fun to me and just my price range thanks to a lot of merits. Trying it just now :) Playing the Loons together with my GF on Excelsior, mine are usually Cleo's or Jaro's. Global handles: @Jaro @Mistress Cleo @Jaro Loon Anyone know a good doctor to treat Altoholic?
rbeal74 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Pretty new to CoH, so I'm sure I'm missing something. Could someone explain the use of Vengeance in this build(the one posted by Darkling)? If you are mostly solo farming, when would this ability ever activate?
Jaro Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 Veng takes Defense IOs, so you can plug a Luck of the Gambler Recharge Speed in there is what I assume. I am using the build but plugged in Conserve at 49. The build is great for sort of farming, but so works as mass aoe machine in teams. eldriyth Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 No need to re-invent the wheel. Just use the cheap brute build Mez provides and move to the stronger more expensive one as you get INF. I still run the cheap build and do +4/8 like it's a joke. Make sure to aim for A3 ASAP after hitting Veteran 3. If you're not sure what A3 is: It's Alpha 3rd or higher rank which will grant your character a level shift. This makes you 1 level stronger in power, literally turning a +4 into a +3 in power for the same rewards as +4. This is how you farm +4 effectively.

One persons build isn't the meta with this games different farms. Plus, he isn't even running either of the builds he posted. (See Mu Lightning and Pet on his bar and not in cheap or expensive builds). You can get really crazy with expensive Ice/Fire Blaster for farming too!

SenkanYamato Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Come on guys. There is no reason why all fire/spines can't be fire defense capped. The builds that have been posted...23% fire defense? 19%? Aegis is your friend. Here is a simple build that's capped against fire. Only reason you need to heal is if you (like me) fall asleep at the wheel and forget to watch your endurance and your shields drop. HelenCarnate Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 That is a decent budget build. Once you make some money you can get perma hasten and drop Maneuvers for less endurance use, get more recovery on top of it and have room for Kismet and a travel power. Not as effective outside of fire farms but still respectable S/L defense. Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Corruption Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Exactly - the amount of builds I see who still need to depend on purples is kind of ridiculous. Turning them off and being capped makes life way easier. It really all depends on what you're sacrificing to get that defense. I'd take recharge and damage procs in a farming build over anything else.

I've found it is some nice extra damage while waiting on other stuff to pop AND is great for grabbing another group as you're finishing off one. Also, what other Incarnates would you go with? Set bonus for one and it is a fast single target attack for that last boss which always seems to wander off. With that much recharge there is very little down time between aoe attacks which is mainly used to gobble up inspirations. Any wandering groups that pass by I hit with Elec fences, that holds them in place and the dots keep the aggro popping as the group I am working on dies off. That and I am lazy and don't like positioning myself for cones. Ageless is handy until the build is finished, by then there are fewer endurance issues and consume is up fast enough to manage those. Barrier is nice for doing normal content since fire tends to be a bit squishie. For Hybrid I go assault for more damage but am working on Melee core to be able to do more other content as well.
Lord_Cyclone91 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Here's what I'm running currently. That Psi damage from IDF and Carnies still hurts, but overall it's pretty good with capped Melee def and plenty of resist. Those robots with energy ranged attacks hurt also. I switch between my Fire PROC Interface slot and the to-hit debuff one if I'm doing more tankerish type of a role. I like the recharge from Agility (Rare), although I started out with Cardiac (Rare). It takes some effort to get the cones lined up, but overall it's worth it. I miss Fireball but having 4.1 recovery is nicer and good regen, I think. I have it in build #2 for when I'm just fooling around, but mostly this is the build. Needless to say, you just sit back and make sandwich for Fire farms, and it's decent overall. QuiJon Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Hi all, im looking for a Spines/Fire build for farming. Could someone paste a Pine plan by chance? If possible something that can be extended as this girl has to earn some of the money herself :) Maybe exchange oranges later by purples :) Thanks for helping! Honestly for farming you don't need anything. I do just fine with my spines/fire brute and he has nothing of any sets in him at all. Hell he doesn't even have IO basics just the SO 53s I have picked up along the way. That is the entire point of AE farming is you make a map or run only maps that cater to your build. In this case a fire build that natively has maxed out fire resistances. Go in with a load of purples and click as needed. If yo are alone you will get more then enough drops to keep them full just burn the reds and yellows and blues as you get them and I set it so I don't get rez and breakfrees at all. I have farmed this toon solo in the AE since he was like 32. Start off slow and build up to what you can handle. And now between his fire resistances and the level shift from the alpha slot he is farming +4/8s with no problem. And like I said no real investment. Heck if you are AE farming just do one run every 3-4 for tickets instead of drops and you will have more then enough tickets to redo SOs and don't even have to spend money there either. Considering I don't plan on ever playing the toon outside of the AE farm or demon farm maps I see no reason to spend influence he is earning on making him any better since really I probably would not notice the difference.
Narninian Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Hi all, im looking for a Spines/Fire build for farming. Spending influence on a build makes a huge difference in clear speed, not to mention making it easier to live (IE not needing to rely on purple + blue inspirations as much). Now now how much influence to spend is another thing. You can get a pretty cheap build to be very effective, but I woudlnt recommend So/generic IO level cheap. A purpled out build is awesome, but you dont need that if you dont want to do a lot of farming.
