AE in Bases?

How feasible would it be to put an AE contact & mission entry point into a sueprgroup base?

 

Would really open up the game to player-made stories. Could make custom zones, travel the cosmos in a spaceship, etc.

It'd be cool to have but from a technical perspective I don't imagine it's terribly feasible for the simple reason that base maps aren't persistent. They're technically mission maps with extra stuff added, so putting a contact into one might cause the spaghetti code to unravel in all sorts of fascinating ways. Or it might work fine, I honestly have no idea. Just depends on how deep the distinction between zone map and mission map goes.

I dont really see a problem, as the Cathedral of Pain used to be launched from the SG computer and raid teleporter in bases. So I would assume it's feasible

Following this idea, I wonder how difficult it would be to convert a base into a map that can be used for missions in AE?

With all the stuff you can spray around a base, and how badly the NPC 'pathing' algorithm works on straight stairs sometimes, I'm fairly sure that's gonna be *really* difficult with regards to enemy patrols, escorts and the like.

 

Still would like it, though. Some of those really pretty bases would be fun to have adventures in.

Oh for sure it would be difficult.  There are many bases pushing the item limit as well that get very laggy.  Would be an interesting way to expand the city though.

Exactly. Bases already have contacts and mission entry point functionality.
