Macabre
New to stalking and want to try ice/ice after some comments I've read about it! Anyone have a solid build for it...what to avoid etc? Also---whats a good prestige power set for it? Thanks!!!!
Sovera
I haven't super refined this build so there's probably room to improve it a bit more. Basically the idea is to cruise around softcapped in defense to the important bits (ignoring fire and cold since they aren't big worries. The Psi hole will hurt more but as a Stalker it is up to us to start with hitting the dangerous targets first), and when/If in trouble we use our uber Icy Bastion. For 30 seconds all our resistances but Psi get capped and our regen gets a tremendous boost. It will have a one minute down time once its over but then we have Hoarfrost and Barrier to fill up as panic buttons during that one minute. Frost is used for AoE and ST because of how bad Frozen Fists are and to fit everything in. While Stalkers are not AoE beasts the build ends up pretty satisfactory. While leveling Frost + BU is a spawn killer (it's common to follow a tank and once everything is balled up around him we just kill most of the spawn by ourselves with that combo), Frozen Aura is.. okay (in theory same damage and near same animation time, but not nearly as satisfying as Frost), and Ball Lightning finishes adding to it for that initial AoE burst while still under BU's influence before we mop up what survived. For ST Zap is just a mule and not meant to be used. It does hit harder than Ice Sword but on the other hand it does not build up AS stacks, so see how you feel about using it or not. Icy Touch is the beastly ST damage overshadowing even AS. Basically while in Hide always use it. Eventually if hitting something for a while (hard boss or AV) work it so that Icy Touch is always used after AS but for regular missions don't fuss too much and open with Icy and then use AS and whatever is available (Zapp from Hide will HURT). AS, Icy, Frost and Ice Sword is the ST rotation for an AV. He has those few psi attacks that have no vector (mostly mind control set attacks). He even did a number on my SR stalker before I remembered how he works. Luckily he doesn't hit as hard as some AV's.

Parabola
I have an Ice/Ice who for concept has to take Leviathan. Looking at ideas from both builds by @Sovera and @Croax above, I have come up with the following so far. This has been one of the more frustrating builds to put together because I want more powers than I can have and trying to hit all the usual build goals at the same time has seemed impossible. So I've had to drop f/c def back from softcap to the 32%+ bracket and lost Chilling Embrace along the way which I really wanted in the build as it fits the theme perfectly. However my understanding is that it doesn't currently play with the hide proc very well? Hibernate is the other 'for theme' power that could make way for Chilling Embrace but ideally I'd like to have had both ... Oh well. Spirit Shark Jaws is basically a hugely expensive mule but the ability to stack 6 mag of hold could have it's uses. Hasten is perma before incarnates and accuracy is more than solid. But it's true you're short on powers. Water Spout and Spirit Jaws are the only flex powers so it all boils down to how in love you are with those two. Yeah I totally agree. I love the power and it's sneaky good mitigation too. Water Spout is another very thematic power and I have to take one of the first two anyway. Spirit Shark Jaws isn't really needed but it's bringing 5% e/n/f/c. I could dump Maneuvers and rely on Energy Absorption. Shuffling a couple of slots around I can get it so that s/l/e/n softcaps with two enemies hit. I think I may be able to live with that. Croax
I think both build you have posted are viable. Just for your information a lot of Stalkers stick with the initial slot on Build Up or 6 Slot Gauss set into it. Funny in your build you could take the 2 Def slots from Energy Absorption and one slot from Glacial armor, on slot from Frozen armor and put these 4 into the Build Up. Now you still need Energy Absorption to get where you have been but you have a better build up. lol. Anyway. I wanted to ask you if you would like to do low level content with that build? The build i posted above has enough defenses at as long as you have Frozen Auras set bonuses, which would be Def cap to important thing from lvl 27 and above. In your case it is a purely endgame build? More than just a Ninja - A Guide to Stalkers Croax's Tier List and Build Collection

I had thought that the full guassians set had too much recharge in it and it would have hurt the performance of the proc but running the numbers it's only by a percent or two. It would never have occurred to me to slot guassians on a typed defence build but here it works. I end up in the same place with two enemies hit by energy absorption but better off with only one and get some extra set bonuses. The drawback is it drops frost to 90% to hit +4's which was one of the things those 4 slot lotg sorted out. I could pull a slot from energy absorption to put the kismet proc back in hide leaving just a lotg+7.5% and an endmod/recharge in EA. I like this actually because the kismet proc is great for exemping, which brings me to ... 12 hours ago, Croax said: Anyway. In your case it is a purely endgame build? I'm always looking to build for all round performance. Having said which ice/ice seems a slightly late blooming combo for a stalker anyway and I'm not all that fussed about being softcapped at lower levels. I wouldn't expect to be facing higher level mobs without support and ice/ice is blessed with other mitigation. I could look at moving weave earlier but there are so many good powers to fit in! ryokoryu
Ok it should be noted that all these builds include powers that are no-longer in the stalker version of the ice/ice on homecoming. They are outdated builds and should be used with caution

I know chilling embrace is great for the other AT's that also have ice armor, but is it really that good for stalkers too? I am in love with my ice/ice stalker so far, and in her 20's I respecced out of CE because with 3-4 other toggles running at the time, I couldn't manage the endurance and it didn't feel like something a stalker would need the way the other guys do. But you're saying this means I must be missing something with it in regards to stalkers. Still not sure I'd want to fit it into her build right now (level 37), but looks like I may be adding it back in later when I can get her end usage under better control. And after this little impact of a "starter", what else has been changed that would make the builds in this thread outdated? 2 hours ago, TygerDarkstorm said: I am curious about this. I think that @Sovera is comparing apples to bannans here. Ice Patch and Burn are very good powers that are PBAoE with an impact for the playstyle and/or Damage while Chilling embrace is much more comparable to Disrupt from EA, or Genetic Corrption from Bio or the Dark control Toggles. They are Toggles to start with which drain your endurance all the time. Ice Patch and Burn are used when needed and have a great impact with every cast, so they are worth the long cooldown or Endurance cost. The control Toggles are usefull in big enemy mobs and prolonged figths, but the reduction of recharge/damage/stuns whatever are not so meaningfull, because you can take out targets very fast as a stalker. A lot of Stalker builds just skip these control toggles at all. I don't think they are useless, but i understand that not everyone plans for prolonged encounters on stalkers. Also the Endurance management of a /ice Stalker relies on keeping Icy Bastion on cooldown and Energy Absorption to fill up the blue bar when Icy Bastion is not active. You have to get used to cycle these two powers and will have no endurance problems after that. 1 More than just a Ninja - A Guide to Stalkers Croax's Tier List and Build Collection
