I would love it if there was a way like in TF that you can disable the use of incarnates, epic power pools and insps in normal groups (like something in the notoriety or something) i find doing alot of content at 50 is way too easy and everything is just steamrolled, i know some people like it that way and a good way to have the best of both if the group leader could somehow have control over those option like in TFs.

I really dont know if it is possible or if anyone else would actually like this but i really would enjoy the game alot more with a option like this, i mean im happy i can play at all but i get really bored and end up running lower lvl content on alts because i find it more challenging apart from Itrials 90% of endgame content is not that challenging and i thought this could be a good way to give people like me who want more of a challenge without affecting people who like to roll thru the content.

Anyway im really greatful for the homecoming team and your hardwork!

I will say upfront I vastly prefer 1-44 content for exactly this reason. I generally prefer the game before incarnates to after.

That said, be aware that in theory you can do what you want today.  All you have to do is manually unslot your incarnate powers, and only group with people who are willing to do the same.

Would it be easier if there was a checkbox that auto-suppressed them for your group, kind of like the varied Ouroborous challenge mods?  You betcha.

Would I enjoy it if the devs supplied such a checkbox?  You betcha.

Is it worth developer time to have them add this, and prioritize it over other items, when a perfectly good workaround exists?  I can't say yes, not with a straight face.

I would HOPE that code is written in a logically supportable and modular way such that it's just a matter of adding a checkbox and having the code look at that field before enabling incarnates. Intercept at exactly the point where the game says "What incarnate power do you have in your Alpha slot?" and if checkbox is checked, force it to nil / empty.  If it could be that simple, it might be worth it as a quick easy extra along with whatever else they have in the pipeline already.

But I've read enough horror stories about the City of Heroes source code to know it's probably nowhere NEAR that simple. And the code is probably not modular enough for the devs to really feel good about sneaking that in and being confident there would be an extremely low chance of breaking anything else.

(Of course, I'm not a dev, so this is supposition on my part. Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong and it is easy.)

i agree theres work around i've done a few groups like that aswell but always a few people who join throwing judgement out and the like, if its some crazy task thats gona require lots of time to do i'd rather they not bother but as it is i really get bored of endgame content because of how easy it is. I thought i'd throw it out there since they cant really remove incarnates and since it is already in the game via TFs/ouro i thought maybe there would be a way but if its too much to do i'd rather they focus on other things.

Another idea was maybe having a server where there was no incarnate abilities or something like that, i was just trying to think of ways of making alot of the endgame stuff more challenging without compromising other peoples ways of playing the game and thought this would be the best of both worlds with the disabling of incarnates and what nots 🙂

I do not like this idea.  I like the use of incarnate abilities, and unless people start advertising ahead of time that they're running with incarnate stuff turned off, I will consider it a major waste of my time to join a team and then find out they're using an option to disable any of my powers.  Join, quit, move on to something else, and not only will I feel like my time has been wasted but then the rest of the team will probably feel irritated that I just quit without warning and wasted their time.

How about special LFG channels, one for those who don't want incarnate abilities and one for those who want everyone to bring their A-game?  Then we can all just play with the people of a similar mindset and ignore everyone else.

I'd be down for this idea, though that being said, outside of AE arcs, I find myself not doing a lot of Level 44+ content anyway.

If there was a way to perhaps select which Incarnate powers were available to use, that would be even better. I'd probably run most content with Alpha, Incarnate & Hybrid allowed. Maybe Lore.

Oh? You like City of Heroes?

Name every player character.

I'll be waiting in my PMs.

If there was an extra reward at the end of the TF, not a bad idea.

However, this can be accomplished already by just not using said powers - just have to find teammates willing to do this, or invite people under level 50.

No need for "special LFG channels." If this were implemented, they'd likely be advertised just like Master runs and other "special circumstance" runs. "Non Incarnate ITF LF3m." Then you could just not join.

Of course, if you did join, you could always ...oh, I don't know, say something before quitting, too, or better yet ask the team leader before asking for an invite or before the TF started. People *do* answer questions.

Sometimes they answer questions in a very delayed manner, because they're too busy trying to recruit people to fill the team.  And sometimes the teams fill up quickly, so asking ahead of time if the team is going to have any disagreeable circumstances for one could leave one out of teams that might otherwise have been a good fit.

"Is this TF a speed run?"

...wait, wait, wait, then: "No"

"Cool, I'll join."

"srry, full"

Wait a second... something just occurred to me.  You can unslot/reslot your incarnate abilities at any time, right?  This entire suggestion may be unnecessary, due to the fact that you can just unslot all the powers until you want to use them again.

It's been a while since I played one of my incarnates, so apologies if I'm mistaken and  misremembering how this works.  🙏
