Please explain why you're using "mm" to denote millions?

The "mm" makes you texts just frustrating to read.

I'm going to start using "VV" for quarters, since V is five, and 5 x 5 is 25.

Hundreds could be XX ! I.e., a mugging outside Wentworths in KR could start out with "Hand over all your double-X's!"

C is 100, like with centurion, an officer in charge of 100 soldiers, or century, 100 years. of 100 cents in a USD.

count to 3, then one down from 5, then 5.

XL (10 from 50 = 40)

L (50)

XLVII (10 from 50 and 5+2, 47)

CDXCV (495 - 100 from 500, and (10 from 100) and 5)

No, no. We just changed it. Two M's are now a Million, not two thousands. We're multiplying them together. XL is now 50 x 10 or 500, XLVII is 10 x 50 x 5 x 1 x 1, or 2500, and so on. It's like New Math, except it's for money. We can call it the New Roman Monetization.

I'm not going to say this is the best thing ever written about the /AH, and I'm not going to say it is NOT the best thing ever written about the /AH.

What I will say is that although demand and prices have changed, the song remains the same.  For example, yellow and orange salvage are currently wicked high.  Is that because of a shadowy cabal manipulating prices, or because people are out there running trick or treating and not getting salvage drops to put on the market at 5 inf?  Personally, I blame aliens.  Keep Earth for Earthlings and all that.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

It was happening well before ToT got going.

I have been buying a lot of yellows and oranges steadily for a long time, and prices have been creeping up for them, which is counter to the general trend of dropping prices.

For yellows, it's not that we're run out, but that supply gets tight for increasingly frequent short periods. There's just not much slack left in the market. I've seen it go to the seed price a few times.

Similarly for the orange market, except it used to have a lot of supply right at 500k, and it seems all that is now gone, and it often pushes up above 600k, and I saw it go to a full million a few times.

I suspect what is happening is more people are crafting the recipe drops they get instead of vendoring them, and this has tippled the source/sink rates of those salvage categories more towards sink instead of source, tightening up the markets.

Why would people be doing that? Well, maybe more of the population that is still here has been readying Yomo's market guides.... so yes, I blame Yomo.

In my imagination, two related reasons:

1) I believe I see the Rare and Uncommon prices swing upwards when merits become easier to acquire, because of the WST (Tinpex, mostly) or, as during Halloween and Winter Events. Folks need Orange to craft those merit-purchased recipes. I've convinced myself that I see a slight rise when Market Crash is also the WST. So demand goes up.

2) When XP/Inf is cheap (Mapserver leagues, et al.), I think some folks would rather just farm on a league, and of course drops are not as good as for a solo player at x8. So supply goes down.

In normal play, drop rates of salvage and recipes have a certain balance. Whether there's more or less of them, they stay in that balance. What non-normal modes of play produce more recipes than salvage, rather than just less of each in proportion?

When I solo, I get pretty substantial drops (of all sorts)... I often have to empty my pockets.

When I team, I almost never have to empty my pockets.

When I was referring to recipes in my above post, it is people buying recipes with merits, because for me, I can get 100 merits to drop (on a league) faster and more reliably than I can get one purple to drop (into my pockets) while in a league.

I suppose more people using Merits to buy recipes could explain some of it, but recipes are a pretty bad way to trade in merits -- I thought more people were figuring that out, not fewer. Maybe it's the new people who're playing since the NCSoft License?

So the causality train would be more people doing merit-content, trading in those merits for recipes, and then more recipes being crafted, and there not being proportionate salvage dropping along side them resulting in a steadily tightening salvage market.

This is so very true. And, if I'm being honest, I am egocentric enough to dare sometimes think the high salvage prices are my fault. Not because I'm doing anything, but because I'm NOT doing anything.
I used to afk farm with two other accounts while playing the third. Now, I just play the one account. I might occasionally PL an alt to get over a level bump, but that's pretty much it.
Instead of buying converters, I'm hoarding them. And my farmers are not selling surplus uncommon salvage.

As a result of me not doing what I have been doing for 4 years, uncommon salvage is up. Converters are much cheaper. Everything is cheaper. You're welcome.

Of course, this may have nothing at all to do with me and everything to do with Yomo telling all our secrets to the world in his insidious guides teaching people how to make their own influence!

It's all your fault, Yomo!
