What Sets Do I Need to Make Electric Armor As Sturdy As Possible?

Honestly I just dump Unbreakable Guard in everything for the melee defense and call it a day.

But, the two concerns with Elec armor are the zero Toxic protections and the complete lack of defense.  You'll probably find it easier to slot for defenses, but if you can fit toxic protections in there it's also good.  Also extra HP and regen can't hurt.

You may also want to slot some extra KB protections so you don't have to rely on gluing your feet to the ground to avoid being tossed, if you even took Grounded at all.

45% s/l def and youre good to go.

S/L def is particularly good for elec armor because you have high energy resist, decent psi resist, and regen to fall back on.

Currently on fire.

Here's one way to build.  Focused on getting capped resistance, with some defense sprinkled over it until it gets debuffed.

You could try making a build, learning the actual numbers, posting the build on here and that way you could start to get a better handle on what you need.

This is how I learned and it has helped immensely with understanding builds.

Pretty much this. Of course depending on your primary you can also toss in Kinetic Combats as necessary.

I went soft capped S/L on my EM/ElectArmor Brute. Works really well. Biggest hole is Psi. Carnies and Arachnos wreck me if I can't kill psionic attackers quick enough. I've been fooling with a Katana/ElecArmor build, only in the low 20's at the moment (so many alts lol). Katana is attractive because wit Divine Avalanche it completely covers melee and lethal. Most ranged attacks are either lethal (guns, bows, knives) or energy (lasers, radiation, electric), Divine Avalanche covers the lethal, and electrics ridiculous energy resists covers most everything else. In theory you would be covered for melee and most ranged attacks, leaving ranged AOE attacks, and Psi and Toxic attacks as well.

With Resist-based setups like Elec/Fire/Rad, you REALLY want to concentrate on maxing out Resists.
Because jerry rigging massive Defense on it is somewhat self-defeating.
Because the minute debuffs start landing (on a setup with no DDR), you start having to rely on compromised Resists.
In essence, you're an eggshell.

Also, the reason I went Cardiac, rather than Resilient?  Habit.  Freeing up End to be able to buzzsaw through enemies as fast as you can spam an attack chain.

This solves 75% of your problems.  45% s/l avoids the majority of attacks, split damage as well since ice blast checks lethal damage def.  You can get 75% average across the board resists, the defense io scale resist can help cap it when low health.  You got enough regen to deal with any 25ish damage hits.  Only weakness is -regen, even psi damage isn't a huge problem.

This build is a good example of how to hit 45% sl def and resistance cap slfce on a electrical armor brute. I've got a TW/ELA brute that does the same thing.
