Whats good with rad armor?

Staff? Not sure how that is

Want some ideas/builds(stop laughing)

whtaever

Why yes I do know what a search feature is. However with the 1000 returns it is hard to dig through all that. So I ask in posts.

I played a Rad/Staff and a Rad/Electric.  Both are fun and durable.

I personally love Staff. On a Tank, you hit EVERYTHING.  I stay in Form of the Body. With 3 levels of perfection,  you can use Sky Splitter and get a boost to your resistances. Or use Eye Of The Storm and lower enemies' resistance.

Innocuous Strikes is awesome with the Armageddon proc. It hits regularly.

Being Rad,you get 2 more PBAoE attacks (Rad Therapy and Ground Zero)...and you become an AoE God.

Yeah I went rad/staff working on a build now

Is that more resistance based?

Here's a not-quite complete build.

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

Holy crap nice resists...Gonna try that with staff. hopefully

Why yes I do know what a search feature is. However with the 1000 returns it is hard to dig through all that. So I ask in posts.

This is my Rad/Staff build... has been really strong for me, and proccing out rad therapy and ground zero give me two pretty strong mini nukes for jumping into a cluster and getting them all to notice me.   After that I'm just spamming defensive spin and eye of the storm a lot, mixing in a single target as needed.

Here's a not-quite complete build.

Hyper,

Interested to know why you put both MoT procs in Scorch.  My WP/Fire tank has the +Res in Combustion (fires virtually every group/activation) and the +absorb in Breath of Fire (for the cone...fires most times I have three targets, even though the absorb is almost inconsequential).

Reunion - JAWBRKR (Inv/SJ Tank), Lich-ilicious (Necro/Dark MM)  Torchbearer - Will Power-Flame (WP/Fire Tank),  Frostee-Freeze (Ice/Emp Troller), DARKNESSREIGNS (Inv/DM Tank), BALLBUSTR (Inv/SS Tank)  Indomitable - PLVRIZR (Stone/SS Tank), The Atomic Warden (Rad/Rad Defender), FACESMSHR (EM/EA Brute)  Excelsior - NUTCRCKR (Inv/SS Tank) - VL500+, DRKSTNITE (DA/DM Tank), Nosfera-too (Kin/Dark Defender), FIREBLLR (FIre/Therm Corr), THUGSRUS (Thugs/Dark MM), Marshal Mayhem (Fire/MA Tank), SLICRDICR (DB/WP Scrap), NECROTANK (SD/DM Tank), FRMRBRWN (Spines/Fire Brute), AVLANCH (Ice/Stone Tank), SWMPTHNG (Bio/Rad Tank), FREEZRBRN (Fire/Ice Tank), ZZAAPP (Elec/Elec Brute), Voltaic Thunderbolt (Elec/Elec Tank) Lemme Axe You Somethin (Rad/Axe Tank), PWDRKEG (Fire/FIre/Pyre Tank), ATMSMSHR (Rad/SS Tank), Morphology of Flame (Bio/Fire Tank) EverlastingMISSADVENTUR (Inv/SS Tank), Mace to the Face (SD/WM Tank)                                                        Retail 2004 (pre-I1) - 2012 lights out; Feb. 2020 - present

I tried a few Rad/* pairings and stuck with Rad/Fire for theme and matching vfx.  It's a fun combo and Rad is tough enough to survive while Fire brings the pain.

Rad/Fire is the way to go. So much fun and.. Radiation AND FIRE!!

I kinda like it, so I can at least explain my own thinking. First, he's split up Superior Gauntleted fist to double up on the energy/negative resistance bonuses, a trick used all over the place. It seems excessive on Radiation Armor, perhaps, but I often struggle to get sufficient energy/negative resistance on my builds. Second, while I worry about Scorch recharging too fast to make the procs reliable, by having both in the same attack, there's only a single attack to spam when you want maximum survivability. It keeps things simple. I'm old and slow and forgetful. I like simple. So I guess I'm saying I'm not sure I'd have done it on this specific build, but those ideas I like.

Why yes I do know what a search feature is. However with the 1000 returns it is hard to dig through all that. So I ask in posts.

But I am having fun with this rad/staff so far

For those saying how awesome Rad/Fire is, does this combo just not translate as well to a Scrapper? Or is it late blooming or something? I have a Fire/Rad scrapper in her 20's who feels a bit squishy and like she doesn't dish out all that much damage. I haven't wanted to delete her because I love her concept and wonder if maybe I'm doing something wrong. So seeing those of you here saying it's awesome, I'm curious as to why, lol.

I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂

Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

I suspect people on at least the Tanker forums most of the time are rating combinations based on completed endgame builds, so I suspect that’s some of it. I know I never judge a set based on how it performs in the 20s other than relatively minor comments like, say, that you need to go all in on endurance management when leveling Dark Armor. And for endgame builds I would expect the 90% vs. 75% resistance caps to open a wide gulf in survivability between Radiation Armor Scrappers and similarly-built Tankers. I do not have personal experience with either, though.

The entire thing is a series of compromises to obtain maximum steady-state Resists (without depending on Melee Incarnates or .RoP).

Rad doesn't have a Damage aura to drop them in.

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

It's sad but Fiery Melee on Scrappers just sucks. It's one of the lower damage sets with low burst damage and lots of DoT.

Rad armor is eventually good but it's expensive to make it tough.

On a Scrapper you have to defeat everything before they defeat you. With Fiery Melee they get a lot of time to whale on you while your damage ticks away at their HP.  A Tank is plenty tough enough to sit there getting walloped while the enemies burn.

I tried out a bunch of different Scrapper combos, always giving up in disgust, before settling on my Tank version.  Rad, Shield, and Bio go great with Fiery on Tanks.

Edit: @Galaxy Brain's thing shows it 2nd to last.

Thank you for this. I know she's low level, but yeah, definitely felt like the damage was just lacking--like you said, very low burst, crits didn't seem to happen often enough. But I love the character concept, so I'm thinking I will reroll her as a tank then. 🙂
