Anyone heard of Hero Forge?

Not sure which one of you did this, but he's made a LOT of signature and villain group figures, 3d printed them up, and done quite a nice job painting them.

FlyingCodeMonkey and I had them do miniatures of our 13th Age tabletop characters. Their miniature designer is just good fun to tinker around with.

Played around with it for 15 minutes and got a pretty passable attempt at my old KM/SR. While there are some interesting helmet options, none of them quite matched what I wanted so there's a minor drawback, but it's not a bad attempt at something that could easily represent what I was going for:

 

 

I am curious about the print file they offer though if it could be made a bit bigger than the 1" scale. I'd much rather see this in at least a 3.5" size personally if I could print it myself.

I think some slicers can expand the scale of the STL.

 

It's been a long time since I've been on Hero Forge, so I don't know if they have that option or not.  You'd think they would have the option to make your STL 30mm/15mm/10mm at the least.  Or maybe 28mm instead of 30.

There is the XT options available, though I believe you'd have to build the figure from the get-go in that size rather than just up-sizing your figure.

 

You can start with the Half-Giant body, then add the gear to that instead of the Human body type.

It does have an option on the forge builder to purchase the printable file itself, that's what had me curious about its scalability. Some things scale well, some don't depending on how it is originally designed, how many nodes it it starts with, whether they used a tri or hex based connection system for the modeling, etc...

 

I don't have a 3D printer to be that invested in the experiment though, so that's as far as the curiosity went.
