Day Jobs..and the perks/temps

Day jobs have never really been anything I've thought about, beyond just logging off in certain spots to get the badges. I never really worried about the temporary buffs or their duration.

It occurs to me that some of you do, indeed, pursue some of these and aim to keep them running as long as you can.

The Wiki seems to be missing this info, or I wasn't smart enough to find it.

Let us use the monitor badge (logging out next to sg portal) as an example. How long does one need to stay logged out to get one charge? Is it one per day? I'm thinking that 30 is the max, so it would make sense if that's the case.

And in Dark Astoria, there are some nifty buffs, but I'm not clear how many hours I need to be logged out there, once my character has acquired the badge and keep the buff running.
One day (after getting the badge) gives me a buff for how many hours? One hour? 5?

Anyone know, or know where to point me in the right direction to find out?

I'm going to hijack this thread to ask a tangentially related question, but not worthy of its own thread.

Does anyone know of a quick way to get to the Psychologist day job location?  Like, is there a contact whose first mission takes you to a door somewhere around that hospital?  That way I could start the arc in ouro and use mission tp but as it stands now, I just zone in to First Ward and hoof it.

Pretty much every other day job I've got a way to get to in 15 seconds from anywhere in game, but not Psychologist.

There's not really a good way to do it like the other Day Job locations. I'll usually get after the local mobs for the defeat badges while I keep the character parked at the ward.

I'm not asking how do you get it, I'm asking how do you get there.  You can get it by logging off anywhere in that walled-off area.  I tend to go to the exploration badge location, but again, that's not my question.

I'll restate with an example, if I want to log off at an Arachnos base, I lfg to Renault, same for a helicopter, that drops me off right beside either.  I don't know of a similar trick for Psychologist and I'm wondering if someone does know of a way to get there quickly w/o traversing the whole zone.

The best I can offer is to start an ouro TF with master midnight; he's the closest contact to there, but you still have to hoof it a good bit.

The page below lists all the badges and the number of hours required to get the badge (scroll down). If you click the link for any badge, it will give you the charge rate for the temp power.

Thanks, @Uun I went to that page, and I just figured if I clicked on the links, I'd be taken to some page that shared info about that topic, and not the charge rate of the temps.
I really should change my global from Ukase to Obtuse.

So, it looks like I need to leave the characters in question in that position an additional full week for the 2 hour buff. Sheesh, that's annoying, but I get why. Can't have some fool like me getting all the buffs for more than 2 hours. No telling what kind of crazy stuff I might do.

So, I have the day job for Wentworth's. And for another 37 minutes, if the wiki is to be trusted, I'm supposed to get a Brain Storm Idea for each mission completed. I've only gotten one, after completing Habashy's story arc.

You can see the mission completion message, and I got some common salvage, but no brain storm idea.

I'm getting the idea that I might have forgotten why I never paid attention to Day Job temps. The game owes me 5 more brain storm ideas, because I haven't been getting paid.
Maybe I should use the acronym BS idea, right?

I got Psychologist on all of my alts just as part of exploring First Ward and getting all of the other day jobs there. It's time consuming, but with over 100 alts it wasn't a big deal leaving characters parked there for extended periods. My "system" went something like this:

1 - Zone into Eltentown via base teleporter, zip over to the outside of the north wall to read the plaque there, then go back inside and log out. The next time I log in that character, I've earned the Survivalist day job badge.

2 - Go east and collect all the badges and plaques in the Free Fire Zone. Log out on top of the tram station or the D.U.S.T. building. When logged back in, I've got the D.U.S.T. Ranger badge.

3 - Move away from the D.U.S.T. buildings, log out atop most any other building. Log back in a few days later, and earn the Scavenger badge.

4 - Fly down and get the plaques and exploration badges around the church/cemetery. If I don't already have Mortician from Striga or Sharkhead, log out there. Receive Mortician the next time I log in.

5 - Grab the "mid-town" badges - the plaque on a standalone broken wall, a badge at the sunken Cole statue, and a badge at the top of the tallest building in the center. From the top of that building, fly down to the badge inside the dead Hami seed, fly south to get the one in the rocky hills, the fly west to the hospital. Read the plaque, grab the badge, log out. Receive Psychologist upon login.

Note that there will need to be about 5 days between logging out and logging back in, for the day job badges to be awarded. Again, not a problem for me, with 100+ alts - I had multiple alts all doing this at the same time.

I would also, after logging back in to get Psychologist, teleport back to my SG base and immediately take a portal to Night Ward to grab all of the exploration badges there. (Fun: With no plaques* to read, I could grab the House Hunter badge inside the mansion, and after exiting the mansion I could fly a route that let me hit every remaining badge without stopping.)

*There are a couple plaques in NW, but they don't count toward any badges, so I didn't bother stopping to read them after the first time.

The charge rate is reduced once you get the badge. For example, for Monitor Duty, it's 12 hours per use before you get the badge and 8.4 hours after you get the badge.

Yeah, per the wiki, once you have the badge, you have to spend 1.4 hours logged off for a one minute duration, with a 2 hour cap. So, that's 168 hours, or a week after you get the badge.

And, suppose you hit the 100 hour mark at noon on Wednesday, but log in at 1PM. I don't think we get credit for that hour towards the 2 hour cap. I think the counter for the buff starts when the badge is awarded, not when it's earned, but I could be wrong.

You are correct.

I find it's really hard to maintain the auto buffs that have a 2 hour cap (i.e., Time Lord), but the toggles with a 2 hour clock (i.e., Traveler's Jet Pack) will last a long time. I'm also fond of the Revive Ally power from the Physician accolade (not sure how long it takes to get 30 charges).

I still can't believe we don't have a journalist day job.

This came to mind over the years. As did other Day Job ideas. It'd be cool to get some new ones every now and then. I am guessing it would not tax the Devs too much to do so. But, hey, I'd prefer new content and powers over anything else so.... 🙂
