DoctorDitko Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 You are so right! RTD2 seems to have matured as a writer, but c'mon! Can't he at least live up to "reverse the polarity of the neutron flow?" "Triple-drive the particle manifesto?" "Vindicate the cyberline and roast the hyperfeeds?" "Inculcate the plexidrones?" "Shatterfry the positrons?" C'mon, RTD2! You can up your game! Ask one of many sciencey Whovians out there! Disclaimer: Not a medical doctor. Do not take medical advice from Doctor Ditko. Also, not a physicist. Do not take advice on consensus reality from Doctor Ditko. But games? He used to pay his bills with games. (He's recovering well, thanks for asking!)
ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 (edited) Neutron flow? Neutron flow? Bah. Easy. I could flip that with two chopsticks, a coil of wire and old copy of Guitar Tech Monthly. But if he messed with the polarity of Klystron Generator... now that's REAL drama. Spoiler I doubt it's River Song. It's been suggested in so many places due to the whole Flood/River/Pond thing, but I very much doubt it. I absolutely LOVE the character, and would kill to see Alex Kingston again with Chuti Gatwa, but I thinik it's been done to death now, we've had her storyline and it ended perfectly. I'm hoping it's something like the Rani. I mean, she was around during Mel's run, so there's a connection there? Or possibly something new? Who knows....... .........did you see what I did there? 😉 On a separate note, I'm currently reading the novelizations of the recent three specials. They are a little on the light side, but they do add some interesting back story for a couple of the characters and really do help flesh out Donna's mum character!

Clave Dark 5 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 The other thought was that Mrs. Flood may just be a fourth-wall-breaker for her own sake (see Hartnell breaking the same wall in a Christmas episode long ago). Regarding the weird turn the technobabble has taken, I noticed that too! Maybe RTD just decided to push beyond the usual as it's become a tired trope for anything sci-fi these days. Or maybe it's tied in to the more fantasy turn he says he's taking the show, "now it doesn't have to sound vaguely plausible.". Tim "Black Scorpion" Sweeney: Matt (Posi) used to say that players would find the shortest path to the rewards even if it was a completely terrible play experience that would push them away from the game... ╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Clave's Sure-Fire Secrets to Enjoying City Of Heroes Ignore those farming chores, skip your market homework, play any power sets that you want, and ignore anyone who says otherwise. UltraAlt Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Moscow Expels 6 British Diplomats Who Would Not Shut Up About ‘Doctor Who’ https://theonion.com/moscow-expels-6-british-diplomats-who-would-not-shut-up-about-doctor-who/ Published: September 13, 2024 MOSCOW—Explaining that Russia’s patience on the matter had finally reached a breaking point, officials in Moscow confirmed Friday they had expelled six British diplomats who would not shut up about Doctor Who. “London must realize that their diplomats’ incessant jabbering about Time Lord physiology and whether Daleks or Cybermen are stronger can only go on so long before it requires a response,” a Kremlin spokesperson said via state media, adding with visible annoyance that whenever Russian officials had tried to discuss serious diplomatic issues with the six self-described Whovians, they would invariably steer the conversation back around to whether the worst Doctor had been Paul McGann or Colin Baker. “Even when we tried dosing them with nerve agent to get a little peace and quiet, these dorks would just keep on speculating about whether one TARDIS could canonically materialize inside of another TARDIS. With their expulsion, our message to the West is unequivocal: We do not care who the Doctor is. We do not care who the Master is. We absolutely do not care about whatever the fuck that big skin creature is. And so long as the Kremlin stands, we will never watch your dumb little TV show for children.” At press time, Moscow suggested that they would potentially readmit the diplomats if they got into some real sci-fi like Battlestar Galactica. 2 If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) Regenerating this thread for the Season 2 Trailers... So it looks like the big arc is that Earth's current timeline has been erased from existence. Whether that's the Doctor's fault, some kind of accident, or an Evil Plan of some kind. Also, someone's been playing a lot of Cuphead. And everybody's just gotta have an animated episode as well as a musical these days. But between that and the old Fleischer cartoons, they still didn't skimp on being scary as all hell, so... BTW - while searching, found one of those old Google hidden games... Coin Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I really enjoyed Ncuiti's first season, despite all the naysayers. Space Babies was fun, but a strange choice for ep 1. LOVED 73 yards! Was NOT expecting Sutekh at all, great reveal,. but damn, that ending was weak. Defeated the biggest bad of them all by taking him for walkies through the time vortex? Really undercut the mavity of the situation, I felt. Still, LOVED the Xmas special and both eps of the new season so far have been excellent. As for all the talk of doom and gloom for the series? Don't make me laugh!! 😉

I don't know what's happened to RTD. His first 2 doctors were really well written. Even in the cheesiest episodes they were still fantastic. Ncuti is great when he gets something to stick his teeth into, and I like Belinda, but I don't know if the Disney influence is showing. 8 episodes is a very American streaming thing, and after the writers strike there are all kinds of concessions about writers rooms and bonuses after a certain number of episodes. I don't know. I think 13 episodes would give the whole season time to breath, and we'd be able to explore the whole "Gods" thing better. There doesn't seem time for any character driven stories now like Fathers day or Turn Left or Midnight. It's all silly robots, space babies and flashy graphics.

ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 8 hours ago, GM Crumpet said: 8 episodes is a very American streaming thing Feels like a half-series order. Which isn't generally speaking good news. The House of Mouse has been cutting back a bit on spending, Andor aside - which was already committed budget and should have a lot of longterm value. A lot of the cuts are going to be around the ESPN restructure and ABC, Freeform and FX. But if the Dr Who deal isn't yielding results - and the streaming algos have a merciless ream of data these days - they're not going to commit. TBH, if they'd known there was a risk of that kind of thing, The Well should have been episode two. Lux got a little bit too meta for me, even though I love Alan Cumming and Fleischer movies. (And some of it did feel like a bit of a lift from Joe Dante's Twilight Zone segment, which still scares the hell out of me to this day). WAKE UP YA MISCREANTS AND...
