Honestly I've seen nothing in the Prismatic doodad that I consider worth even thinking of saving for

I kind of like the secondary auras in tier 3.

I haven't seen this confirmed one way or the other, does mini-mode scale your weapons down as well? Are you a tiny person with a hilariously oversize sword or does the sword shrink to match?

I just sell these things, which makes them a decent perk but I typically get more for PVP recipe than I get for the Prismatics.

I'd have to double check, but pretty sure they shrink to match.

There is a fun thing with capes you can do since they do not scale down unless you zone.  It's like wearing a big tent for some. 😄

I have a few characters where there has been a decent choice. My Ice/Ice Blaster Господин Заморозить (Gospodin Zamorozit') picked up the Hellfrost costume, my Plant/Nature Controller Разрастание (Razrastaniye) got the Infested Devoured costume, my Robotics/Dark MM БРИГАДИР (BRIGADYR) got the IDF BCU costume, and my AR/EM Blaster Pakfront got the PPD Hard Shell costume. The rest of my characters I haven't really seen one of the prismatic costumes that really calls out for them.

The first one - the Prismatic costumes and effects deactivate when the player dies and have to be turned back on after being rezzed. It does break the immersion a bit, but everything detoggles when the player dies so it's just following the same rules for active powers.

Thanks much!  I can work with that.

I’m personally a big fan of Prismatic Æther costumes.  I recently got undefined mode on my main and I am gradually collecting as many forms as possible.  This is a new hobby for me since I rarely make new toons anymore.  I love seeing toons based around a prismatic costume!

sooo is there a badge for gettin them all(there should be), i am pretty close

Badge for set numbers, but since they're always adding to them, I doubt there will ever be a badge for all.

I won't be happy til we get that AE contact hologram as a reward

I was actually going to suggest that one as a third purple-tier prismatic æther costume alongside undefined and polygon.

They can create that badge, but all they need to do is create three more -- automatically awarded badges for a character being created as a hero, villain, or Praetorian, and it can remain the eternal goal for all the badge completionists, since you'll always be at least two short of completion...

No and players that aim for all badges on multiple characters would throw a shitfit if they did. Not that I wouldn’t personally find that entertaining.

There should be a badge for spending more than 100 hours with a prismatic costume activated or something like that.

I’m adding more prismatic costumes daily.  On the way to collecting them all.

Don’t think that would be a problem. Would be easy for badgers to AFK farm so what’s the harm.

Thank god there isn’t another T4 released with the new page. IIRC you only need ~500 aethers to catch up with the new page.

I’m focusing on the T1 and T2 costumes, actual transformations, not effects.  I would go for Block Mode, but it doesnt really fit my character.   Maybe I’ll work on all the T3 prismatic effects as well as the T4 block mode after I already have everything else…

T4 Generic AE contact prismatic costume please!

I find the T3 effect prismatic powers to be somewhat underwhelming except for specific character concepts that need them.  I do have the lightning one on my invuln/SS tank though.

Just waiting on a Scirocco costume. Hopefully won't cost 2000 or something silly.

Sorry to disappoint, but want to set expectations on this: Outside of Riptide (who I believe exists for particular reasons, though you'd have to ask Cobalt about it), named characters are something we're currently avoiding and that's unlikely to change.

More to the point of the thread and some of the things discussed- we're aware that Aether costumes are a niche item, and that's by design. We wanted a reward that people don't expect to be able to have, or feel like they require, and have to put substantial effort into earning, whether that's trading inf or earning it directly from challenging content. We also wanted it to circulate inf throughout the economy to newer/less wealthy/lower level characters lucking out and finding Aether that could help them bolster their build if they were to sell it on the AH to someone with a more finalized build and plenty of inf to spare.

Unfortunately I believe (dont quote me on this I'm not cobalt I didn't make these directly) the on-defeat dropping of the costume toggles is a design limitation, not a decision we had to make.

Certain things are also made pricey due to the particle effect impact on the game (the auras) or due to us simply not wanting to see a whole lot of them running around the world all the time. Beyond the prestige factors, it's a deliberate effort to lower the amount of them you see around. As such, to circle back to the first point in the post, if we ever were to add a named character costume (we almost certainly won't, but never say never I suppose) it would likely be at a very high premium, I suspect.

EDIT: Oh god I just saw the first post in this thread (and the one I quoted) are both all the way from 2023. Whoops.

Honestly, as limitations go, I just wish we could have gotten Snakes, but I think Colbalt mentioned they are far from the same thing as a Disc Jockey. (I mean, fair enough. Disc Jockeys seem to just be dudes with their legs replaced with the disc and a hover power). Now what I will say is that I'd love for something like Scirocco's skirt and maybe eyebrows to be made available to players seeing as the dude's unique enough that he could part with those and still be unique.* Also still holding out for an Embiggen particle effect.

*Still so annoyed the live devs reused Scirocco's sword model for the Talons of Vengeance. It's like, that sword is supposed to be a VERY specific thing in the game and now just any angry snake lady can have it.

The talons probably just bootlegged the sword.  They are villains after all.
