And in today's WTAFery out of Whollyodd...

 

 

I'd have assumed this would be animated in the style of the game but... 

 

 

...thaaaat's gotta be Tiny Tina, right? And there are shots on IMDB of Cate (Lilith) and Ariana Greenblatt (Tina) in serious wirework harnesses.

 

I know Cate's entered the "sod it, I'm gonna go be a stage dancer for Sparks" stage of her career, but they still must have one hell of a script to land her - and Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Tannis) - for something like this.

 

And yes, slavering hordes, Moxxi is in it, played by everyone's favourite criminal plumber Gina Gershon. 

 

Much like the game, it ought to be tapdancing along the curve between insane genius and horrifically "wacky", but with this cast... I'm optimistic here.

Couldn't stand the game; couldn't stand even watching play-throughs on Youtube.  That said, I don't know how it will translate to the silver screen (are there still silver screens these days?).  The line-up has potential, though, and I'm glad to see that it includes some... let's say... experienced entertainers with proven track records.

 

Slightly cautiously optimistic, but only slightly for now.

I'm guessing no one in the movie will run out of ammo in 2 minutes, unlike every time I tried to play the original Borderlands.

I know they’re trying for a GOTG vibe here, it actually looks the part, and they’ve got a stellar cast.

 

But that script…

 

…if a trailer’s supposed to be the best bits of a flick/attract mode, then we may have some serious issues…?

I can't find much to pick on. It's a bonkers-ass game, and this is a bonkers-ass trailer with pretty much all the right vibe. Maybe it will be the full and proper capstone to two decades of spandex movies, MASH to all the grim-jawed WWII flicks.

That looks to be some of the worst casting I've seen in quite some time.  Credit to the animators, they got the look and feel of the world down.  Hopefully some people will enjoy it, but its a hard pass from me.

I've got friends that I co op console game with and have for over a decade now. One of our favorite franchises to play co op is the Borderlands one. Many, many Ultimate Vault Hunter Levels have been had. "Try not to die!" is one of my favorite catchphrases to use irl. That being said: this trailer looked like ass on ass. Bad casting (most are too old, Tiny Tina's actress has the delivery of a dead bird), Jack Black sounds horrible as Claptrap and that writing is...well, it's recent Gearbox level horrible.

IDK, saw the trailer and not a fan of the cast choices TBH. Doesn't help that I generally don't like JB for some reason, but when I look at the rest I get a Nope vibe.

Never liked the game.  Didn’t care about the movie.

Then I watched the trailer today….and I am in!!!

 

Could be trash, or it could be a fun and entertaining movie.

Movie looks horrible to me. 

I get none of the R-rated humor of the game from the trailer. 

Looks to me like generic action movie that they slapped the borderlands name on to.
