/Dark why choose Shadow Fall?

I see a lot of builds slotting this power up and I am wondering if they are just taking the power for the Set bonuses?

 

I use a Celerity +Stealth in sprint and Stealth has been fine so far.

It's valuable because it provides an extra def/res toggle. Every little bit helps when aiming for a sofcapped defense or to boost resistances.

 

I typically frankenslot it with some combo of LotG/res set/def set. On my Defender it's giving around 25 to resistances and 7.8 defense. The Stealth is kind of just a bonus.

Just the Celerity +Stealth IO is not enough to get you completely invisible.  That IO + Shadow Fall stack to make you completely invisible.  

 

Shadow Fall also provides some Def and Resists and then is of course, great for set bonuses, if you want.  But it's also a great mule for the Def/Res specials:

  • Kismet = +ACC
  • Gift of the Ancients = Def/+Runspeed
  • Reactive Def = Scaling Resist Bonus
  • Luck of the Gambler = Def/+Global Rech
  • Shield Wall = TP Prot/+5% Res (All)
• RES
  • Steadfast Prot = KB Protection
  • Steadfast Prot = REs/+3% Def
  • Impervious Skin = Status Res/Regen
  • Impervium Armor = Psi Res
  • Unbreakable Guard = +Max HP
  • Aegis = Status/Psi Res
  • Gladiator's Armor = TP Prot/+3% Def(All)

It provides above average defense compared to pool options, substantial exotic resist, and stealth as a bonus. Not to mention the outstanding slotting options as @Frozen Burn highlighted! Stand out power in a strong set.

For a corruptor, it provides (unslotted) 3.75% defense to all, 15% resistance to E/N/Psi, and fear protection in a 40-foot radius.

It's a suped up Maneuvers with resists if you want to think of that way. Always take it. Always run it. If someone complains, they are insane and you can find a new group.

Only time I've ever seen anyone complain is when people forget to turn it off when on an escort mission.

The power is not only much more than a stealth power, it combines with the stealth IO for invisibility.  It's always worth taking it.

3 ribos + 1 def/end Gift of the Ancients + 1 def/end/rech GotA + 1 LOTG 5%/def

This gets you maximum defense, resist and over endredux.

 

5.5% def from shadowfall

another 5%ish from Weave

1.whatever% from hover or combat jumping

3%x2 from global IOs

and thats not even counting your slotting or your epic/patron pool or the -tohit stuff from your other secondary powers for even more survivability

The Kismet +6% ToHit is a lifesaver for a lot of content. It is especially useful while leveling up.
