So this is a minor bug

it does not hamper normal gameplay at all

it just annoying

I am attempting to do a playthrough where I do every single arc without using ouroboros

I have tried this before, and somehow missed a few contacts/arcs.

Now when I originally attempted this i just chalked it up my not paying attention or whatever

so this time I am checking oro to see the maximum level ranges for quests

turning off XP so I don't exceed those ranges

then doing all the quests on one side, then switching and then doing the other side

(id love to work yellow/gold side in but I don't know how) anyway

because I'm checking oro between quest I'm noticing that the "find contact" function

doesn't always locate contacts within your level range.

I am actually having to hunt down some contacts to grab those quests to ensure I don't miss any

by hunt I mean I have to look them up on the net to find their location and head there

they then give me the quests.

I am aware this is a niche issue

and the find contact option only works 90% of the time

its just, quite a bit of effort to avoid using oro to experience all the content.

also I don't mind oro but

there are many broken quests (that cannot be autocompleted)

you can only do 1 arc at a time

you cant invite someone to help you mid arc

some npcs wont talk to you while in oro mode 😞

Its easy to criticize a suggestion but can you suggest an alternative?

You can't except as a Praetorian character or through Ouroboros. (Edit: Gold side content is not available to Primal characters except through Ouroboros until they get to First Ward. First Ward and Night Ward are the only gold side content available to Primal characters outside of Ouroboros.)

yea I figured

I would still love the find contact option to work 100% of the time on both red and blue side though

which is why this post is in bugs and not suggestions

I don't think this is a bug.  The "Find a Contact" feature has never given all contacts in a level range.  It only provides some of the main ones and others that may be out of level range as well as they seem "hard-wired" in (ie Fireball, the First and Night Ward starter contacts, Montague, etc).

The only way i can see to do this is to read the wiki and find the contacts yourself to go through them all to make sure you do not skip any.  And some of the older contacts Heroside, offer the same missions/arcs as another, so you won't be able to repeat them from that other contact (they'll offer you nothing).

And As for Gold Side, as Rudra stated, you cannot do the Nova, Imperial, or Neutropolis content as well (except through Ouro) - you have to be a Praetorian to do those.  And if you were a Praetorian, you then could not do the Primal arcs until you get to lvl 20 and go through the portal, and then you'd have to do all the lvl 1-19 Primal content through Ouro.

there are quite a few

if you search the bug forums

I'm sure you will find a number of issues that you were lucky enough to miss

here was my most recent culprit

Devs did fix the issue, yay

to be fair most of the time its a foe or objective spawning inside a wall or under the floor

outside of oro you can just auto complete problematic quests like that

but in oro all you can do is, reset and hope its not persistent.

Not sure just how the 'information kiosk' things count the number of 'ouro arcs completed'.... but it says 410 total if i remember correctly.

(it may count duplicate/triplicate runs of same arc so unsure).

I think that the "find a contact" button was added as part of the funneling process.

I don't really know what the DEV gaming community (across gaming) calls calls what I'm using "funneling" to mean.

I'm using the term to mean "narrow the content that players are directed to in order increase the number of players in those content selections"

This is primarily done as a game ages and happens to game content versus end-game content.

This would include things like closing down Galaxy, stopping new characters on the hero-side from being sent directly to their origin contacts when they spawn into the world, creating new low level contacts that all new hero players are sent to (this funnels the 5 origins into one contact mission path - lacking origin flavor .... so why even bother with origins?), WTF, and, of course, the "find contact" button.

And my point in this thread being, it isn't a bug; it is intentional.

I would also point out, that if you break an origin contact chain, you can't get back into it. Skip one magic (for example) contact and the next origin contact will send you elsewhere because they don't know who you are. And that locks off all the other magic origin contacts unless you happen to get one when the middle contact-level split for origin contacts happens which offers you contacts that are not of their origin.

That is to say, you get a magic contact. About halfway through their arc, the will offer you two other origin contacts (I think this magic split give the option of Natural and Mutation origin contacts with missions in the same level range as the magic contact). At the end of their missions, they will offer you the next Magic Origin contact which your character can immediately talk to and get a mission -or- your character may have to level up to the level above the current contact before the new contact will give you missions -or- the contact may not give you another origin contact until you complete their arc and outlevel them (that is to say that they go inactive and then later you can talk to them to get the next origin contact).

There are also plenty of contact arcs that are broken ... just flat out broken ... Fault Line seems to come to mind as one in the origin contact line. And then there are others that send you places to do things that are pretty much impossible ... like sending a level 30 magic origin character to hunt in Dark Astoria (was in level range, but then the level range of the zone was changed to make it end-game content)

I'm pretty sure the starting contact in First Ward is the one who's entire mission list is only to go learn about the shunting process to move between First Ward (Day Ward seems more to the point now-a-days) and Night Ward. So really there is no "level" involved with that as it is pretty much just a tutorial on shunting. And, in this case, Archmage Hellewise is level 29-50.

I don't know who the starting contact in Night Ward is off hand.

Montague is a level 10-50 contact.

I have never tried run just Montague's missions from 10-50. I'm not sure if there are missions throughout that whole level range or not (but based on the wiki there are gaps where he can't give you missions and really only as 2 main mission-lists; getting into the Midnighters' Club w/ level 10 starting level and getting into Cimerora with a level 35 starting level)

Fireball is a 25-50 contact.

I'm assuming you are also referencing the others of this type as well that show up in "find contact".

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

@UltraAlt yikes, I honestly don't remember it being quite so horrible

although to be fair my memory is fairly faulty (see what I did there)

I can see why its just more efficient to power level to 50 and then run oro to experience content

I just wanted to relive that "live vibe" i guess

I suppose ill have to create a "please repair quest chains" thread in suggestions next

sorry for wasting everyone's time

thanks for the feedback 🙂

That's one of the reasons that don't run 50's.

The fact that there were 5 origins of heroes with their own origin story lines (and, if I remember correctly, they all end in the same origins contact arc.) with multiple branches pretty clearly shows that the game wasn't meant for a single run through. Honestly, that should have been obvious from the number of character slots we were given even when the game was first released. Not to mention the numbers of possible archetype and power selection choices.

I think I may have already linked this for you before. I know I have linked it to other threads.

I haven't done much work on this lately, I guess it is project that I should return to.

no waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

lol

There's a reason why when I make a new character, if I want to run all the content blue side, I turn off XP at level 4 and finish completing all the starter contacts. They may be origin based, but the origin restriction was removed a long time ago. And if you complete all their missions, they send you to the next contact in line. However, there are hidden contacts, mostly red side that I can remember, that will only be available if you meet their requirements. Like one of them requires you to have defeated 1,000 Longbow before he will talk to you. Those contacts you need to look up. (I'm not sure, but I don't think they show in Ouroboros either unless you completed their unlock requirements.)
