pr0t34n Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Hi all, I have a question about how mini mode works with regards to AoE size, and I guess an overall build size question also. I've got a battle axe tank who is normally in mini mode, and I've noticed that the sphere of influence for whirlwind appears smaller when in mini mode. Other abilities appear equally distorted - for example, Barrier is a sort of ellipse instead of a sphere, with a ground radius most definitely smaller than it is when in full size. My question is, does character size (especially mini mode) affect actual AoE radius or is it merely an animation constraint? Furthermore, would having a larger character (eg, an 8ft tall Huge build) mean a larger AoE radius? Or, to get at my core question, is the AoE radius dependent on character size or is it a radius applied to a single point?

It's just an animation thing, there is no way that I know of for a player to change the radius of an AoE. What this team needs is more Defenders

And…you are wrong. Well… you are. Wrong. In another strange CoH rule range enhancers increase the radius if cone AoE attacks.

In another strange CoH rule range enhancers increase the radius if cone AoE attacks. Sort of. They increase the radius by increasing the reach of the cone, they don't affect the actual arc of the cone. So you are technically correct 1 What this team needs is more Defenders

If size mattered, City of Data would show a range in the "Radius" field of any power that would be affected by it, however, there is only 1 number there. For example: Axe Cyclone https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=tanker_melee.battle_axe.whirling_axe&at=tanker What this team needs is more Defenders

While true, it is also a line-of-sight affected power. If I'm short, my line of sight would be altered by my height, would it not?

If height affected line of sight or radius for AoEs it would be well documented by now. What this team needs is more Defenders
Sovera Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Easiest way to test would be going to the Rikti Warzone and test in increments against a dummy both with the mini power toggled on and with it off, and see at which distance the combat log registers the hit. - Simple guide for newcomers. - Money making included among other things. - Tanker Fire Armor: the Turtle, the Allrounder, the Dragon, and compilation of Fire Armor builds. - Tanker Stone Armor: beginner friendly (near) immortal Tanker for leveling/end-game and Stone Armor framework. - Brute Rad/Stone and compilation of Brute Stone Armor builds.
