Skyhawke Posted Monday at 02:02 PM Posted Monday at 02:02 PM (edited) I've hemmed and hawed about this one. Usually redoing or getting rid of a character doesn't bug me, but redoing my main after all these years? Hard til I realized how often I've seen Snarky and others do it. Since a Rad/Willpower Brute is kinda yuck these days and I hate seeing him collect dust, I've redone him. Starting over with a MA/Psi Brute (still love Brutes and hate tanking). Martial Arts since it was what Sky-Hawke used back in the beginning (as a Scrapper) and Psi because I've fallen in love with it and really like the set. Doing something a tad different though. I'm starting with my ooooooooold beta outfit for the first 15 levels, then switching to the one I had for a long time after launch til 25, adding the cape at 25 and then finally graduating into the final look that he has had for so long at 35. Anyone else feel that twinge of guilt when redoing a main you've had for years or just me? Edited Monday at 06:30 PM by Skyhawke No capes til 35! 4 Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
Snarky Posted Monday at 02:50 PM Posted Monday at 02:50 PM I really like the homage to each of the era of your character. Enjoy the new you! 1 1

I've done that a few times now. I have a Energy/Psi Stalker that I'm thinking of restarting, but it's more of a project I've lost interest in. I have a couple 50s that I'm thinking about replacing with different versions. My main badger might actually get retired, though in their case, just put to the side. 1
MoonSheep Posted Monday at 05:30 PM Posted Monday at 05:30 PM i would never re-do my two mains, my mind/fire dom and kin/sonic defender. both were created in 2019 and the time they’ve been around for gives them value from being aged like a good spirit in an oak barrel 1 If you're not dying you're not living
MTeague Posted Monday at 06:13 PM Posted Monday at 06:13 PM As long as the new version captures the soul of the old version (no, not with Banished Pantheon magics...), I wouldn't feel bad or guilty about it. But I would measure six or seven times before I started cutting. It's doable, but losing badges, losing accolades, losing credit for every story arc I've done, deciding if I really want to rebuild up to Confidant with each contact all over again.... It's not something to do lightly. At least, not for me. 2 .
VPrime Posted Monday at 06:19 PM Posted Monday at 06:19 PM I play the game almost as if it were a single player game with a main storyline. So I have re-rolled my main multiple times to play through the story from the ground up. It's always fun, and opens up options to try different missions and costumes throughout the leveling journey. 1 Project Vitality - SS/WP Dr. Zayne Draydeon - ROBOTS/FF Project Apex - BIO/SPINESProject Genesis - SS/REGENProject Ultimate - INV/SS

This time, it's with an old friend with a new vibe. 2 Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
Troo Posted Monday at 06:44 PM Posted Monday at 06:44 PM (edited) why go changing?.. Spoiler Spoiler somethings are just right Edited Monday at 06:53 PM by Troo a spoiler in a spoiler :) 1 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Scarlet Shocker Posted Monday at 11:08 PM Posted Monday at 11:08 PM Scarlet Shocker was my 2nd toon, born on Defiant back in 2006. She was always an Electric/Electric/Electric blaster even when blasters were pretty well obsolete but when I came to Homecoming I remade her on Excelsior as an all electric Sentinel. There's a Scarlet on every shard, just cuz, but that one is by far my favourite. I much prefer playing it, easier to play, more resilient and the slight downturn in damage output is a small price to pay. so I totally get the OPs PoV All the best chemistry jokes argon
Xalon Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Posted Monday at 11:16 PM What is the new name for character? MA/Psy Brute looks very interesting 🙂 I haven't recreated anything yet. Maybe in a few years when I have one of each archetype or more than just 3 characters LOL. Still got a few years of content to enjoy for those 3. But I do like that you are keeping the name similar so it's like your scrapper leveled up in a way lol. Very cool. Go getem!

Ironblade Posted Tuesday at 04:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:29 PM Ironblade was my first character. I read the game manual while I was downloading the game (I believe I had DSL at the time), back around Issue 4. I read the AT and power descriptions and figured regen would be an easy set to use while learning the game and broadsword gave him a D&D feel. (He was an archaeologist who discovered a magical helmet.) When Homecoming came along, I remade Ironblade first and I now have Ironblade on every shard. He's level 50 on all except Victory so far. I've only ever redone one character. Unarmed Wombat was a claws/SR scrapper around level 25 until someone commented that he wasn't really 'unarmed'. I deleted him and rerolled as martial arts/SR. 1 Originally on Infinity. I have Ironblade on every shard. - My only AE arc: The Origin of Mark IV (ID 48002) Link to the story of Toggle Man, since I keep having to track down my original post.
Ukase Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago My main has all the badges. I can't see remaking him, because getting those is a pain in the butt. 1

Skyhawke Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago So far, I've really been enjoying it. I'm just soloing (except for some ToTing, but xp was turned off for that...just wanted the badges) with no xp multipliers other than ones that come from finding exploration badges. I'm actually doing story arcs I haven't seen in forever. Bonefire? Tsoo Shenanigans? I'd forgotten those even existed! I'm at 19 now and I've done a lot of content because I usually used double xp and just bounce between the big ones like Hollows and Faultline. I've even gotten the War Hero, Dignified Combatant and Steel Savior badges. Whaaaaat? I've fought fires in Steel, even. Settling in nicely to this being my new "main" and just doing everything with him. Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts.
