He was made because I thought a robot in a white disco suit called The Disk-0 Infern0 was funny, not because I wanted to farm (or do any of the insidious things you've associated farming with). Put together a damn good PvE build for him that protects from everything, not just fire. So, now you know of someone using Fiery Aura for something besides fire farming.

I made a Fire/Fire Tanker ages ago, but... I haven't used it at all because it just doesn't seem to actually work. I'm not saying people would only pick Fiery Aura for fire farming, just that it only seems to work for fire farming, and that fire farming seems to lead to varying levels of problems. It might also work somewhat well on Scrappers because of the passive damage and not needing to tank, but most of what it's used for is fire farming because it's not balanced at all, other armor sets that do a ton of damage, especially radiation armor, are just used for playing the game normally and not primarily for farming so it can be fixed. Probably the devs need to stop trying to make every single armor set a +RES set, probably radiation should've been the +RES set and fire should've been the one with more regen so they can both do damage and be balanced, but changing that would mess up a lot of people's characters, so we're just stuck with making fire not very distinct from most of the sets and maybe making some more new sets to make up for it.

It was shut down. The game was profitable and had a dedicated playerbase that leveraged both monthly subscriptions and micro transactions. 

 

It didn't die, it was killed. And it was in fact yet so popular that not only did people try to build out different versions of it to keep it going, but a secret server was started up by a well-known coder who was leaked the game files. A server so popular that people still have angst that they weren't chosen to play on it.

 

By the way, one of those people is the one who routinely posts on the subreddit about the HC devs engaging in scandalous RP. It might be true, it might be lies, but they're only out there saying it in every other post (the same person every time) because they're mad.

 

They're mad that other people got to play and they didn't. That the game went on for others and not them.

 

Just the same way you're mad now.

 

Play the game, be grateful for what you have, and let others do the same.

I'm not mad at all though, and I'm especially not mad that I didn't get to play on the private server because I wasn't even on the game during Live actually, and honestly, with how many people act, maybe they should've kept there only being an invite-only server instead of Homecoming, but since the company is now actually approving it maybe it can work. Just maybe, one of the things that should change is farming should be against the rules again. I just don't like people farming events and I don't like farming in general, and I also don't like that most of the events seem like stupid stuff that makes no sense like "go trick-or-treating" and "go open these presents" and not like "this monster is invading the world" or "this villain is trying to blow up Paragon City with their death ray." One way that would probably solve a lot of problems would just be to make the badges account-wide so people can't farm Prismatic Aethers at all, even if people will still try to figure out other things they can farm, and those should probably be countered as well. Architect Entertainment badges are already account-wide, so if they don't make all badges account-wide, they should probably just make event badges account-wide, which also conveniently makes it so I don't have to make all ten of my characters with a ghost theme or a vampire theme or whatever just to get the badges. But it would probably be best if all badges were account-wide, so people would stop wanting their one character to be able to play all of the archetype roles, people wouldn't have to make characters in Praetoria just for cosmetic badges and the like because once you play one Praetorian character you just get all the Praetorian badges (and hopefully also titles) and you can keep them all, and people would have more incentives to get more of the badges that give accolade powers since they wouldn't have to keep replaying it. I don't want this game to turn into Final Fantasy where you go learn all the jobs, that's so silly in my opinion, but since the badges are either just something cosmetic or they're powers that are really hard to get, it would probably be good for them to be account-wide to encourage people actually making different characters instead of just demanding to be able to use Incarnates to fill all the roles, even though I think the mechanics in Incarnates can be fun, the main goal of Incarnates should not be to make it so your character can do everything, because it should be OK to make different characters with different builds and not unreasonably grindy, even if Incarnates can potentially make you do everything if you want.

I do not how or why Tanks with Fiery Aura came a topic in this topic, but of all the protection powers for tanks, Fiery Aura is the most challenging power set to play. It requires to pay attention of what powers you have to activate and keep re-activating such as heal to get endurance de-buff protection.

 

It was a very proud of day for me, when I demonstrated to the everlasting leadership that an Axe/Fire Tank could actually successfully tank Hamidon, which took a lot of focus, but it was possible, and a testament of how good the power set actually is.

 

The one short fall of Fiery Aura, like some of the other protection sets does not have knockback protection. I would suggest, keeping in the theme of Fiery Aura, to make combustion have a side effect to provide Knockback protection. But that is just a suggestion, which I am sure, I'm gonna get flamed (ha ha ha) for it....

So, yes, yes people do. Mine's part of the rotation of characters I play. Play. Not farm. Play.

People create farms around mobs weak to a particular type of damage to be farmed by characters heavy on that type of damage while being resistant to the attacks of those mobs. Before the Paragon Studios devs came down on it, people were building farms that had mobs with negligible or ineffective attacks to allow generalized farmers to run them; if you cripple Fire Armor for farming, all you're going to accomplish is pushing people to focus on creating farms aimed at different armor sets and associated offensive sets.

That seems like a problem with your build or your play style. Properly built, Fiery Aura works perfectly well for general content. I've had my Fire/Fire tank on HC for 3 years (as well as a Fire/Mace tank back on live) and never farm. As I posted 2 pages back, I tanked a Master of Kahn run with it just last weekend. Pretty sure I never used my heal once against Reichsman.

Yes, players do. For instance, I have a Radiation Melee/Fiery Aura Brute, and the set I have problems with on that character for all the story arcs I do is Radiation Melee, not Fiery Aura.

Primsatic Aethers are getting farmed by some players so they can get the costumes and costume effects. Those premium costume effects cost 250 Prismatic Aethers each.

Yeah, we noticed. However, just because people play differently than you does not make it wrong. Farming is allowed in City of and trying to prevent it was a lost cause. So trying to stamp it out is even more pointless. And players farming aren't hurting you or anyone else, so please don't compare it to real world crimes again.

So as not to be completely guilty of derailling said topic, I'll just say that I really like the Halloween event and don't mind the others (even if I'm not quite as excited by them), but they things the OP dislikes would stay relatively the same, even if all the special events were eliminated (not that I advocate for that).
