Microsoft is buying Zenimax and Bethesda Studios
WanderingAries replied to Frostbiter's topic in Video Games
I'm on the "OMG more/better Fallout content" (cause of the $$$ behind them now), but at the same time, I Really hate the clicky nature of my XB controllers. It's super distracting and I enjoy the PS layout much better. Hell, now that the Switch allows it, I've finally swapped my buttons on the controllers there to match the "standard" layout (N always has been that way), so now I don't have to get mad when I accidentally use a consumable accidentally in a PS game after having played on the Switch. :p IDK, beyond that, my XB is really just there because of exclusives (Halo console even). Same for the N consoles I suppose, even if the Zombi game plays better on the U than anything else because of the based tablet BoB and such. -
Note: I AM looking into the "unofficial" installation process on the below machine. My current Mac for reference: So I was doing research for work this week and came across some sad news. My test Mac has been left to pasture for the next OS. I knew it was going to happen sometime as I've had it since 2nd hand purchase with Sierra on it. It handles Catalina with no perceivable issue and I can't tell too many differences between it and Mojave besides how it handles the Tequila installations and some odd issue with Webroot not ignoring drives that are on the blacklist. That all in mind, my brain went to Window Shopping mode (thank god I'm mostly broke >.<) for a device that will take on Big Sur and beyond. At first I priced out a brand new 16" build on Apple and (after I forced myself to think realistically for needs) I ended up with a reasonably priced Mac (stop laughing). Now it's WAY more than I wanna pay and I know that there's likely an older model that will do what I want, but with ALL the issues the MBPs have had over the (recent) years, I'm scared to even consider one. I chose the above with help and managed a bit of a Unicorn when I bought it. IDC about the dead camera as it's been generally good to me with its limited use. So this is where we are in the purpose of the thread. What new(er) model should I consider that has the most tolerable (repairable) issues should I end up with one that's not quite 100%? What will last me the longest based on known issues for a device that won't see a high level of usage? Will any of them be user repair/upgradeable? General thoughts, etc?

Maths, such a non-colonial. :p -
So in light of having to replace a drive in the build finally, I started looking at the expansion capabilities again from a "how far could I go to max out this board?" standpoint. I should start off with this, which I've updated as I'm now setup to manually bootswap (bios profiles) between Win7 and Win10 and it caused me to max out my SATA headers finally. Granted, some are connected to eSATA connections. Basically, I've got some Other headers on the board as well as slots that I've not used up yet and the case still has some room in it as well for outward expansion I've been meaning to look into. I was poking at ideas in NewEgg and came up with a few things. Hotswap bay on the front using the USB3 headers If I could convert from USB3 to SATA, then this would work out great, but I'm not sure of the workable path for this yet. Example Example Helpful Adaptor Helpful Adaptor USB-C (USB3.2) port add-on I found some adaptation that uses the USB3 headers directly, but didn't look hard enough for a mounting method yet. Example Internal PCIe based SSD / HDD solution to allow for (IDK what I'd do with it yet) so long as it doesn't impact my GPU performance (notice the trend?) Example PCIe x1 Wifi card + BT upgrade On the far end of ideas as I do plan to move this computer into the room where the router is next (?) year at which point I'll be connecting with Cat7 Nice Tech Any thoughts on other things I could consider? The "purpose" of the computer was gaming and editing at first, but gaming mostly went away and it'll be a while before I can setup in a new room for video/photo editing (family project), so the add-ons are really more about using what I've got to its potential.

Pine's character print out weirdness

Feels like a database, file, or memory corruption. Does it do it on other characters? And...I know you're waiting for it...Do you not want to use the newer Reborn? -
Aren't Crossfire and SLI going away? IDK, thought I read something to that extent, but I haven't researched new tech in a while.

The 2012 Macs should be able to handle Catalina just fine. Mine does.

Super Group not scaling with members
WanderingAries replied to RogerWilco's topic in General Discussion
A lot of people also create Mule Alts on a 2nd account so that they can fire it up and trade. Maybe make one alt for each type or something like that? I forget the character maximums, so I'm not sure if it would be better to do that or just dump a bunch of stuff on several. -
RAM requirements are questionable depending on need, but I wouldn't go below 8-16Gb anymore for those that game or multitask.
-
Granted it depends on your lighting, but what's the flare factor on something like that? I've shied away from curved screens (in general) for that reason alone.
-
Yeah, you must have accidentally created a new game account
-
Ah, I've read that many simply play in one screen and run things like forums or other apps in their other monitors.
-
From what I remember, I don't think it plays nice when stretched across screens. But that's from vague discussion memories.
-
Mind you, I'm using my GTX 970 now a days, but my 3770k ran the game just fine on live without any adjustments. Granted, I was still running Win7 and 16Gb RAM. I'm in the process of migrating everything to my Win10 SSD install on the rig, but a little config adjustment here and there and I could test in time.

Question about bind codes

I'll just point this out: http://www.shenanigunner.com/ -
Make sure they're on a flat surface as it's easy to get little things in the way.

VidiotMaps for Issue 24 and Beyond
WanderingAries replied to Blondeshell's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
Make sure the maps are (re)installed to the correct game folder. It's possible that the change in launcher cause a new installation folder which no longer has the /data folder that you installed the maps to. -
Heh, IDK about Ultra mode, but I know that I initially tested this i7 3770k / Intel HD 3000 with the game (desktop) and didn't notice a need for "shims" or any errors with the game (that I can recall). I actually played using it for a while as I ran out of $$ for a GPU with the build and it took a year or so before I got one because the game sunset by then.

[Request] Character Sorter
WanderingAries replied to WanderingAries's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
Seems to be a good, working, starting point. I didn't really test the file afterwards and I noticed a quirk, but the app corrected itself. The one thing I noticed was that when dragging, it chose to increment the number assignments by one, but then corrected when letting go of the name. Note: For those wanting to test for themselves, this WILL trigger your AV and may be blocked for downloading. Just follow your onscreen options to allow the download and running of the app. I know it's beta, but I've already flagged it as safe with MSFT. -
[Request] Character Sorter
WanderingAries replied to WanderingAries's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
What do you think, @Jimmy, possible? -
Only because they weren't mentioned... We've all assumed you mean a physical/external keyboard and not something built into a laptop Try unplugging it, turn it upside-down and see if you can't manage to knock some lint/dirt/etc out of it A rare issue, but you can also try reinstalling the keyboard drivers. Not likely an issue, but it's a test.
-
Huh, now That's an interesting functionality quirk. One of those things you probably wouldn't think would have any impact beyond the obvious.
-
I also suggest following the installation guide(s) as well. I think they're in my sig.

Graphics issue after playing followed by OS crashing.
WanderingAries replied to jackalcoh's topic in Help & Support
Firstly, file a support ticket for actual issues or try the Discord for faster (?) replies. Secondly, this 'feels' like an issue related to the graphics card/drivers. It sounds like the graphics memory isn't letting go of what the game last loaded to the GPU, it's still trying to keep it active in memory, and then crashes when that memory is then mistakenly accessed again. This could also be RAM related I think, but IDK enough about how the Mac manages the memory. @jackalcoh, what are your system specifications? You can post a screenshot from the Apple Menu->"About this Mac", but you should block out the serial number. Knowing what GPU you have is helpful I think in this case. @One4fun68, I'd recommend creating your own thread / ticket for that as we don't have enough info here about your problem. Don't forget to include your system specs as well as things like what programs are running in the background (the stuff in your taskbar near the clock and any other apps open). -

If you want insight on how the file interacts with the game, then checkout the above thread as it's quite interesting to test.
