  1. IDK why, but I was expecting a UI of sorts instead of just a cmd window. So I just pointed it at the folder where all the files were and left it be. How long will That take? :p
  2. I get an error when unpacking these four files. I had a fifth one that gave errors, but it unpacked fine when I did it individually. These continued with the error. Something about data beyond the package? boards.cityofheroes.com-threads-range-12708-20120905-012201.warc.gz boards.cityofheroes.com-threads-range-13957-20120905-104405.warc.gz boards.cityofheroes.com-threads-range-17737-20120905-012913.warc.gz boards.cityofheroes.com-threads-range-24525-20120905-105800.warc.gz I've isolated them into an error folder for now and think the rest can be deleted now that I've decompressed them in leu of running your script.
  3. So the original direct DL finished sometime before work today. I then had WinZip unzip it all. I got home to find that I only needed to unzip a 2nd time? I'll reread the instructions, but I thought you said there was like 7 layers of unzipping. Unless that was just the Torrent to keep it thin? Also, getting errors as 7Zip unpacks the current group (2nd layer). I've an hour left to unpack this group and then I'll check things again.
  4. The others have a point for "bang for your buck", but I've just been stacking that with the newer 2XP (thanks to @LadyDee for nudging me into it) to boost me through the first dozen powers or so.
  5. Ok, this is the link I was missing in the chain then. I didn't realize the app was such that it had to be modified each time that the client was updated. So not just a standard game wrapper which Shouldn't have been affected by an OS change. Got it. I'm assuming this is where you were posting from.
  6. Yeah, that's what one of my chans said when I asked what the ring was about. :p
  7. What exactly makes you think this? That's like saying that a WinXP game would no longer run ON WinXP just because they released WinME... If there's something I'm missing here please post the technical details about it so that it can be discussed.
  8. Discontinue doesn't mean that it'll all suddenly disappear or stop working. Yes, losing future development support is a downside, but those who Can run it right now using existing versions will Still be able to run it long after Apple gets around to OSX 10.20 for that matter. There's a lot of negativity in these Mac threads that is unnecessary and I fear that it's enough to push people away when things aren't as downhill as it seems right now.
  9. And I have a G4 Sawtooth that dual boots 9.22 / Leopard that was purchased in part to play a game series that have since been upgraded (wrapped) to work on modern systems. It's all a matter of perspective and investment. :p
  10. And in this case it wouldn't matter 'cause I'm nabbing the .tar, but on the upside I'm at 4.3MB/s!
  11. I'd say working with Pines would be a good idea and crowd sourcing add-ons that people have from OG would help too. The trick would be that some of it is likely incompatible/overlapping the others and/or may need adjusted for the current game (new powers, etc). Perhaps have a stand-alone sticky "paste your app link here". And I Totally forgot which thread I commented that on. Links above of course would be a start. >.<
  12. I just found out this was a thing when I saw an odd yellow ring on my snipe yesterday. I had just leveled and I guess I had enough buffing going on because of it that I'd triggered this. I've since noticed this happens Every time that alt levels. I'll have to figure out what you guys are getting sometime so I can slot accordingly in the future.
  13. Came back from work, Tar paused at 54% due to timing out. Resumed with ~5hrs left. Currently at 70%, ~4hrs left / 3hrs later.
  14. Oh wow, I don't torrent so started up the TAR file for download on my first post (in here) today. I'm at 4% running <2MB/s, 11.3Gb file size right now. O.O
  15. Yes it would require some vetting. Perhaps instead of everyone grabbing, have OP Assign chunks as people ask to help. This would require the download folder be organized in such a way that there's a minimal amount of confusion as to who should be grabbing what. Again, a bit late to the party, so I'd hate to undo some of the work already begun.
  16. If you have an existing way to run even a basic version of Windows OS (7-10), then you can run it inside that. Ideally this would be a VM so that you can run the game at the same time. I'm sure there's other methods, but that comes to mind right now.
  17. Now if we could just get some sort of offline tool that lets us make adjustments to this in a single UI. Something that imports the files and allows for customizable exporting (perhaps creating a bind file for use later for specific alts). A bit overcomplex, but heh.
  18. Well there IS but it's a bit more banter leaning on average seeing as it's a throwback to Pinn, PinnBadges. :p
  19. How do you DL this as a font file? I must not be familiar with that site or just another case of blurry-eyes.
  20. There are existing threads talking about this and I'd suggest you keep an eye on them. That said, you don't Have to upgrade the OS unless there's a functional reason to do so (an app reqs it, etc).
  21. Just to throw this out there, but with the right amount of adjustments you Could install a minimalistic version of a pre-OSX 15 os as a 2nd bootable partition and Then use it for either just the game or other 32bit apps. Now with a Mac you Will need a 3rd party app to partition the drive And you'll have to make sure you are careful in the future with any drive level modifications, but this will allow you to keep yourself "pure Mac" (if that's your thing) and not have to deal with the occasional Bootcamp rebuild issues I've read about.
  22. Something that often gets missed in the prep/worry of such things is that we learn from our surroundings and what we're intentionally taught. So if you teach the good and encourage the behavior, then they'll learn to lean towards those things. As for the suggestions: 1) Create that Adult controlled email that's used for gaming accounts only; 2) Create that individual game account for them and let them have a say in its naming (as well as any alts); 3) Remember that you Can have multiple accounts on the same machine so that your stuff stays separate from theirs and can Easily be copied to a new machine; (there's a way to simply copy the whole game and play in minutes!) 5) Pre-Customize the chat / LFG / etc so that they're only talking with people you don't mind them playing with; Or not at all, that's up to you; 6) Any ripe potato will play the game so long as you don't mind lowering GFX; (if they've played the lego games, then they're fine) 7) Have fun and schedule time for everyone; General suggestion: Someone make a set of age-appropriate global chats that are parent moderated. AFAIR you can mute people who are abusive in the chats. I'd also suggest that these chats Require the parents to somehow be on a roster of sorts where the their global soft-links so the childs so that mods can know who to send in-game issues to. A sort of volunteer nanny system. This would be an Entirely community based thing and as such require a group approval system I'm sure to get established.
  23. I'd hate to ask for server space, but it'd be REAL cool if we had a single place to keep the consolidated add-ons. for the game. ;)
