  1. If that were the case, then they would have come by now. HC has been playing things as smart as can be overall to avoid such a thing. So long as some rogue part of the community doesn't do something stupid like attempt to profit off of the game (before negotiations complete), then I don't think we're in any real risk of shutdown.
  2. Not until someone knows how to easily convert the ingame Build files (/buildsave) to the Mids format. I mean, it looks painless enough, but I'm guessing there's some data it expects to see in the file that it doesn't because I get a blank build when simply changing the filetype (after a few errors). build.txt Pyromethious - DMG Focus.mxd
  3. I'm gonna be Real disappointed if it doesn't look like this: :p Oh wait, you mean more like that restaurant. :/
  4. What about a 3rd party time OSD? I'm sure Somebody has made one for gaming purposes. And a quick google-fail keeps coming up with odd windows things.
  5. This and they don't plan on doing so it seems. Just don't forget to add one of the combo power/control things to the base so your porters work.
  6. If you haven't already, I believe there's a link in the install guide for how to whitelist the game for Avast. The simplest way would be to take the whole directory (IE: C:\Games\COH) and put that whole thing in the whitelist. Also, try the Safe-Mode first to see if that works. If so, then go from there.
  7. Wasn't XP and 2k basically on the same codebase only 2k wasn't as game compatible? It's been a while since I've been OS info-diving.
  8. I literally dropped my Win7 install onto my Win10 device and besides some UI adjustments / Tequila file recheck, everything ran fine.
  9. Oh you mean like all the Mac purists in my FB groups...yeah, no...not unless it has a purpose that doesn't involve Information Security vulnerabilities.
  10. IDK for sure, but the game likely looks for the hidden "end of line"/"new paragraph" character at the end of each visible line as a marker for a new command. Open the same file in word and click the "show hidden character" button to see what I mean if you need a visual. So when it sees a Blank line and is expecting an argument, then it doesn't know what to do. That's likely why all of the files you can open are formatted that way. Using this "guess at understanding", I'd wager that there wouldn't be too simple of a "fix" for it either as it would have wide-spread effects and likely not worth the effort on the existing spaghetti code.
  11. Try here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/50-developers-corner/
  12. Do this: Open the Windows Explorer/File Explorer (the folder icon in your taskbar) and paste this in: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Device Manager Click on the section that mentions Display Adaptors Tell us what it says in the list. Mine says: Cyberlink Mirror Driver (a screen share virtual driver) NVidia GeForce GTX 970 (my actual GPU, the thing we're looking for only yours says Intel)
  13. IDK where you got it, but Gratz and this should go into some sort of "Known Workarounds" list that's stickied.
  14. When This game came out, XP was big with Vista/7 shortly down the road. Until negotiations proceed the way many would dream of, then I doubt compatibility will push the need for players to "need to upgrade" as there's no incentive for the current devs to do so. Often we see threads like "will this run?", "what should I buy just for the game?", or "do I need to upgrade?" and the answers seem to vary, but when it comes down to it, if it's ONLY for this game, the "potato" term wins. By all means, if you're playing on your "main", "work", or otherwise should be up to date system, then yes, keep that thing patched so you stay safe and secure online, and upgrade as far as your system can handle. Something people don't realize is that with each Feature update (as with MacOS), the OS requirements slide higher/more modern and eventually to the point that devices that could handle the release version of Win10 can no longer handle the current version of Win10.
  15. I still like 7 better, but 10 is more compatible/easier to install things like printers. The issue you pointed out is likely user related. Specifically, you can set "working hours" that it's not allowed to update during (default 8a-5p). It WILL download, but not update/restart...Unless you've been ignoring a Feature update that has things like high priority patches like the ones in the news. Those you can only push off so long before it warns you it'll happen (to restart and install). To Solve this "problem" it gives you the option to schedule the update.
  16. You could realistically run any app you wish on a Win7 machine without worry so long as you don't go much of anywhere online or check email on the device. Reason being, those are the two primary vectors of attack for someone who chooses to do so. There are others, but generally, if someone wanted a Win7 machine just for the game, then it would be fine. Granted, you'll have to deal with the 60-90s character screen issue, but no need to upgrade what works.
  17. What's the native resolution of that monitor? Some have odd dimensions and can be a handful of pixels different. IE: Some TVs are actually 16:10 vs the standard 16x9 ratio.
  18. I use this in the launch parameters to reduce load when toggling: -maxinactivefps 5
  19. Neglected to mention/forgot you likely have to restart the PC after doing that.
  20. I believe that means you need to manually download a certain version of the .Net framework. I think it's posted in the first page, but I Know a GM has pointed this out before.
  21. Would a Re-Validation not detect damaged files or just missing files?
  22. Yeah, at this point it's a HC vs Win7 thing and...I see what you did there. ;)
  23. Didn't Leandro explicitly say a solid "No" to this a long time ago? Until they get passed the "small (?) group of volunteers" stage of the game, then I'd expect to see such a thing (because there'll likely be solid goals) as it would have an actual team behind each effort that could be dedicated to the task (their day job).
  24. screen X = Horizontal length in pixels screen X_pos = Starting point from top left (?) screen Y = Vertical length in pixels screen Y_pos = Starting Point from top left (?) Your X_pos is what had you off the side. IDK how you did it, but you (or something) did. I didn't address Full Screen vs Windowed intentionally, so you can try the other changes if you need to, but it heavily depends on your OS' video settings. Those Are the correct numbers for true 1080p though.
