Attempting first end game build on a tank im leveling (DA/Elec)
Intermipants replied to Damoklese's topic in Tanker
Glad to see you're having fun with the Disorient Express tanker build! -
Love the replies everyone! The fire/fire blaster comment really made me laugh! Might have to give it a go 🙂

Ahoy Homecoming! Haven't posted for a while but I thought this would be an interesting question for you - what is your suggestion for the best lazy boy AT/combo of powers i.e. what contributes the most with the least effort? (Bit like my teenage son except without the contributing bit) Sometimes I'll be dragged into watching a crappy TV show for the sake of my marriage and on nights like these I'll log into COH and split my time between pretending to watch TV and being quite crap at helping a COH team. To that end I rolled up what I think may be the best toon for playing COH when you should really be concentrating on something else: Illusion / Force Field controller. I went straight for the leadership pool and invisibility and at level 9 my most damaging attack is brawl. Maximum contribution minimal effort. What am I missing? Is there an AT that can contribute even more by doing even less? What do you think?

Share your Puns/amusing Character Names
Intermipants replied to Venture's topic in General Discussion
All of my toons have pun names. Favorites include: Disorient Express (dark/EA tank) Loaded Dishwasher (DP/SR sent) Deep Fat Friar (spines/fire brute) Winds of Uranus (ill/storm troller) Kendo Barbie (katana/SR tank) Dr. Whooligan (thugs/time MM) Grave Disturbance (zombies/kin MM) Dexter's Privates (mercs/ff MM) Urgent P (water/time blaster) And my main is Amish Instant Elvis (elec/shield stalker), no pun but really makes me laugh -
I’ve got a corruptor that’s dedicated to playing in first person and I’ve done dfbs and a few TFs I know really well on it. I also don’t use the map on this character so it feels like I’m really in the city. It’s not easy. 😃 One of the great things though is you really notice the amazing detail the devs put into the city - posters for movies in the cinema etc. The other great thing is you really appreciate the effort and imagination other players put into their costumes and the full force of the costume designer really hits you. I really love your idea of not knowing what you look like. I’m gonna try that next!

I have a dark/energy tank that’s all about aoe stuns. The build and discussion is in the thread below. Great fun to be surrounded by reeling drunk people - it’s also great fun in the game 😉

Depends on the mission, I skip to the end if I’ve done it loads (how many times can you rescue Dr. Francois without being thanked?) or if the story is really good and I want to get to the next bit (I need to put more slots in patience) but I mostly enjoy romping through and smashing the place up a bit.

Real Life leveling, enhancing, and badging

I’ve been using my two teenagers (fully slotted for self-absorption) and my travel power to get the “drive ingrates one billion miles to places you don’t want to go” badge. -
Worthwhile arcs/missions on Blueside
Intermipants replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Agree with everything posted before and would also add that I think the Laura Lockhart short arc in Steel Canyon is really well written and fun to play. I also like First Ward stories but that’s gold side and so I’m not sure if that’s what you’re looking for. Actually, I think all the gold side stuff is great. -
I never take teleport - except I did
Intermipants replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
One million percent vengeance. I often take it at 49 as a mule for LotG and I never use it because it tends to conflict with my preferred playstyle of faceplanting, panicking, or running away. I also love teleport and the old shift+lbutton is a legend among the binds in my bind file. -
How much of Paragon City can you get around?
Intermipants replied to Intermipants's topic in General Discussion
I just started doing that!!! Really great tip. Thank you. -
Accidentally got into first person view after a mission in King's Row tonight (after deliberately having a bottle of wine with dinner tonight) and after deciding to stay in first person view it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to get to the train station. Did stop for a quick sit down on a bench though. How much (and which bits) of Paragon City can you navigate in first person view without referring to the Map? Which zone are you completely lost in and (b) after a bottle of wine? Mine's King's Row apparently.
-
I do the exact same thing - Matthew Habashy and then all the Atlas exploration badges. Takes about 15 mins to get the long range teleporter and 8 merits which translates to about 1.6MM influence in converters and that gets me SOs all the way to 25.
-
Favorite level range? 30-35 is the best redside.
Intermipants replied to Troo's topic in General Discussion
I’m addicted to the Hollows so 5-15 for me, I go through frostfire on virtually all my characters. I also love the Faultine arcs so 15-25 too if I can be a bit greedy and have a second range. -
Honestly I haven't noticed any impact from the triumphant insult procs, they're in there purely for overkill purposes. I like the idea of trying them in the toggles though. Nice thinking!

Stun Control - Dark/Dark/Dark Corruptor
Intermipants replied to Two Dollar Bill's topic in Corruptor
I just posted the build in the tanker forums. I'd totally be up for being part of a drunky stun theme team as well! -
Hi everyone, I thought I'd share this build I've been playing for a tanker that operates as a melee controller and essentially stuns everything within about five miles. It's great fun to play - getting the "drinks on the house" wobbly stun effect on everyone is really satisfying - and really quite durable. Bit expensive though. The goal of the build was to maximize stun even at the expense of resistance/defense - almost every power that could get a stun proc got one, and I tried to maximize stun duration - first time I've fully slotted a lot of these sets to be honest. The Call of the Sandman proc in the sleep power is once again tremendous, I just love that extra heal! Brutally end hungry though and so I went a little bit overboard on the end mod procs. Stun Control - Dark/Dark/Dark Corruptor
Intermipants replied to Two Dollar Bill's topic in Corruptor
Hi Two Dollar Bill, I was also looking for a build that was focused purely around control through stuns and I eventually settled on a dark armor / energy melee tank and just treated it like a melee controller. You get the stun effect from oppresssive gloom and then more or less every attack power, including an aoe, has a stun component. I also took the earth ancillary pool for stalagmites to get another aoe stun. It’s really fun to be in a massive group where everyone is wobbling about - it’s like being the designated driver in the pub at midnight. I know you’re looking for a defender AT and so apologies if this is an uncalled for tangent, just thought I’d throw it out there. Happy to post the build too if you’re interested. -
I love Illusion. I have an Ill/rad, Ill/storm, and Ill/cold all at 50. As much as I love the chaos of the stormy and as much nostalgia as I have for my rad which was my main on live, I have to say my cold is my favorite for soloing at 50. With its massive -regen it’s really straightforward to solo most TFs, AVs, and monsters. Pretty brutal on end until you get heat loss but after that it’s a bit ridiculous. Obviously perma PA is a key goal of the build.
-
I have a mercs/ff with group fly - it’s great fun, you just hover about like a gunship mowing stuff down.
-
Thugs/time for me too. It’s the most powerful character I’ve ever created. I actually used it to farm my spines/fire brute to 50. There’s a fantastic guide on time that is stickied to the mastermind forum that has a thugs/time build that was incredibly useful. Also great fun as a theme. Mine is called Dr. Whooligan and he’s a timelord/football thug.

1000% agree. I’d totally be up for a standing donation! You all do an amazing job making so many people happy. Thank you!
-
I’ve just started doing it now - having to run back to the contact to get the next mission definitely feels different! Thanks for the tip about excelsior, I’ll roll up a toon there!
-
Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone ever plays old school? I played from issue 4 all the way to the end and now COH is back I reminisce about the first time I ever played, the first time I got to whatever the level was where you got a travel power and how thrilling being able to fly was, getting a cape at 25 I think. The introduction of the hollows and Croatoa and Striga. Having to take the fitness pool! I’m rolling up a toon now and I’m going to try to play it the way the game was all the way back then. I’m curious if anyone else has tried that. Hope you are all safe and well.

Hi everyone, Does anyone have any interest in forming an all fire/rad super team? I remember doing this back on the live servers and it was great fun. Thinking of rolling up a team, doing DFB a couple of times, and then going through the TFs one by one. I’m available to do this most nights. Thinking starting tomorrow if possible, August 4th. Any interest? Let me know below, or email in game @intermipants.
