So I took her out for a test run: build is a MAJOR end hog. Gonna try +5ing any Endredux enhancers and seeing if that makes any difference. Might also swap one of the +Heal enhancers in either Stamina or Physical Perfection and seeing if that helps more than the +~50HP I get back every 10 seconds...

Oh FFS i don't have the bonuses/stats listed; UGH. I'll just do it myself: S/L def: 51.36% with 1 foe in range F/C/E/N def: 32.92 Psi: 17.15 Melee: 42.15 Range: 18.4 AoE: 17.15 S/L Res: 90+ F/C: 54.88 E/N: 52.63 Tox: 35.38 Psi: 19 Regen: 275 MaxHP: 2579 End Rec: 3.13 End use: 2.09 Max End: 113.6 Haste: 167.5% ToHit: +13% Acc: +35% Dam: +108% EndRdx: +12.5% Threat: 400 Note: these numbers do not take into account Hasten, Dull Pain, or any procs being active.

So, I've been testing the new content on the beta server. And my Tank, which has done quite well against everything else thrown at her so far, even Dr. Aeon's Hard Mode, is getting absolutely pasted in the new stuff (at 4 stars, but still)! So, I'm starting from scratch. My old build was Jack-of-all trades with a bunch of Psi resist to fill the hole, and procs to leverage Rad's -def status. I've tossed that aside and focused on Survivability, Recharge (for Dull Pain), and actually being able to HIT Opponents that are +4 and have a ~+25% defense bonus. Psi res isn't needed in the new HM TF, and I feel like the -res procs probably weren't doing much after purple patch. I still added a couple for shits and giggles, though. Now, I'm still not exactly defcapped (and would still be below of the Incarnate defcap), but I plan on cycling Barrier to help with that. Now granted, if I'm using Barrier and am counting on Teammates to also do so, why build for near-defcap? So that I'm not absolutely hosed when barrier is near the end of it's uptime when it's only giving a portion of it's buff. Also, I don't have permahasten. Close, but getting there might require build sacrifices I'm not sure I want to make. MAYBE I could swap Physical Perfection for Maneuvers (for both +def AND an extra 7.5% recharge from a 5th LotG), but I have the feeling I'll need all the endurance help and healing I can get. I'll see how well this performs as-is when I copy to Brainstrorm. So, my question to all of you is: Is there a better way to get closer to, or achieve, Permahasten and/or higher Def numbers than what's here? I could probably use some more Negative Energy def/res also, and/or more Ranged Defense... I dunno man, I've been trying the new HM TF and my tank died just as many times (if not more) as the others on the team. Which is weird, because Aeon in hardmode wasn't as punishing as the new one. Either way, I'm making up a new build, will post for CC when I get home later.

Hey @UltraAlt, I think we may be misunderstanding each other? I was trying to answer @Andreah's supposed concern that it's only a small number of inactive accounts with all those names, or that there won't be any "good" names coming out. I wasn't proposing how easy or hard it would be to claim or re-hoard all those names... which seems to be your take, but, I'm not sure? It's early 😴
-
@Andreah; well, let's assume worse case scenario: 700 accounts with 1,000 names each. Sounds unrealistic to me. Okay, 1,400 accounts with 500 characters each? Hmm... If someone played this game a couple years ago, only leveled up to level 4 or 5 and got bored and never came back, what are the odds that they have more than a dozen characters? No matter how you splice it, it's a LOT. Granted, maybe they all have names like xXN00bmaster69Xx or asdfghjkl or Popcorn Princess (shit, that one's actually good), but I still put good odds on SOME desirable names being in that batch. 😃
-
I dunno, I personally feel that it's too generous, especially since we're getting all this warning/heads up. But, I see the good side of it, too. People won't have to stress about getting a few extra levels in the mid 20s just to keep their characters safe. I kinda wish we could get some data on just how many names stand to be freed up once this goes live...

Focused Feedback: Reward Merits
EmperorSteele replied to Booper's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I mean, you can still cash them in for threads, buy Super/Ultimate insps, and sell those... Though if everyone's doing that, the market will likely get flooded. On that note, it'd be nice if there were more things to buy with emps and threads, especially now that conversion is out the window. Not in page 4, you guys have done enough, but people are gonna end up with hundreds of empy merits and nothing to do with them. -
issue 27 Focused Feedback: Attack Typing Adjustments
EmperorSteele replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I just tested a Mind Controller on Brainstorm, and there doesn't SEEM to be a difference. None of the powers say they have any other attack flags, so, I think we're okay. -
Check out Player2's "name release" thread in the Excelsior forum. Yes, those are all names he grabbed, then eventually decided to delete. And he (and others lile him) probably have more. Why the GMs just don't do something about those few? Because they're volunteers and shouldn't have to adjudicate whether someone is name squatting or just has severe altitis. Also, there's no rule against name squatting, so, there's nothing to enforce. Having it be an automatic system thing relieves them of responsibility if they were to mess up. Like, if you were gone for a year and found out half your characters were generic'd, what would piss you off more: That the system automatically did it because you were inactive, or that a GM went into your account and renamed all your toons because someone else wanted the names?

Personally, i think the times should be lowered, and even level 50's shouldn't be 100% safe. I mean, if you haven't played a character in over a year, you're not really playing it at all. Also, with all the panic leveling going on, the policy will only be hitting inactive accounts at this rate anyway. No need to allow people to sit on names of characters they spent an hour farming up then never looked at again.

issue 27 Focused Feedback: Architect Entertainment
EmperorSteele replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yeah, for "normal content" to have the same effort/reward ratio as fire farming, you'd have to earn a level every... levelx2 #of bad guys (so 4 guys to get to level 2, 50 guys to go from 24 to 25, etc). And that would be a bit broken. -

EmperorSteele replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
That sounds like a lot of effort when the beta shard exists to give you instant 50 and free enhancements/incsrnates/unlocks. Granted, there usually isn't a lot of people to play with on beta, but if all you do is just rinse and repeat that often, well, it might be the better option. -
issue 27 Focused Feedback: Attack Typing Adjustments
EmperorSteele replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Maybe don't assume everything is awful because you DID get stomped into the dirt? Like, if you're playing at -1/x1 and are still getting pasted, THAT would be bad. +4/x8 is actually a challenge now and carries risk now? GOOD! -
issue 27 Focused Feedback: Architect Entertainment
EmperorSteele replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
So... People are sick of doing the same old content again and again. Their solution to this issue is to mindlessly grind out the same mission over and over again. O_o As for actual feedback, uhm, it looks like Psi melee is still overlooked if you're adding sets? -
On one hand, I'm aware that the game isn't balanced around IOs. Otoh, with this change, my IO'd out Invuln tanker has like 75% psi resistance because I plugged that hole as best I could before, and now it's just silly! I mean I guess I can open up the build and do a few different things without losing too much. Or I can keep it as is, because it's hilarious! So, yeah, even though "the game isn't balanced around IOs", maybe keep them in mind when making changes like this?

What is the relationship between Rogue Isles and The US?
EmperorSteele replied to huang3721's topic in General Discussion
I think the world tolerates the Rouge Isles because it's a known quantity. You KNOW it's where Arachnos is, you KNOW it's where most self-proclaimed "super villains" hang their hat. You take the Isles off the board, and you suddenly lose track of 100's of the world's most dangerous people. And if the logic is "nuke the isles because so many dangerous people live there", then you'd better have a few left over for Paragon City and the surrounding area! It's the focal point of all sorts of incursions, from aliens and alternate realities to ghosts and demons and fey! Assuming Paragon is unique in these regards, if i were the government, I'd seriously consider scuttling the place (after evacuating it, of course!). -
So I was re-doing my build, and decided I wanted the Purple Hold damage proc, so I grabbed a 50+5 Purple Hold enhancement I had and got to converting. Well, at first I thought it was nifty that it was keeping the +5 on all the results... but, it wasn't giving me the proc. I burned a solid ~60 converters or so before I thought "Wait, maybe the proc can't be +5'd, so that's why it's not showing up?" And then Boom, success! But wait... why was the level red? What's this warning message? ...Oh. Oh no!! I mean I could just convert it again or put it on the market and it'll go back to normal, probably. In either case, figured you'd all get a kick out of this mishap:

I tried the Aeon ad nauseum route (aeondnaseum?), got ONE. So I said fark it and just put out some bids while Aeon was the WST. ...i should go check on those.
