  1. Fire Armor. It'a good against one thing and one thing only, which only 10% of foes deal in. The other 90% of the time, you're gonna be in for some pain. There's a reason the set has a built in resurrect and a fast-recharge heal. Unless you can kill everything before they kill you, which FA helps you out with, so, maybe it's not too bad. Worst attack set... hmm, do Tanks get Martial Arts? I feel like the lack of AoE would be felt there. SS if you don't take Rage. Pretty much any set that lacks AoE.
  2. I would swap out CJ for Maneuvers, and put a stealth proc in Sprint. Manuvers has higher +Def, which your pet and team also benefit from, plus you save a slot to put elsewhere. If you're gonna be hovering anyway, CJ is mostly superfluous. Though yeah, CJ gives immob resistance and is cheaper on the blue bar. But honestly, if you're def caped, immob powers won't be hitting you anyway. And Break Frees exist.
  3. After looking at your build... yeah, you have great def and +haste, but a lot of your other powers are straight up neutered to get there. I would say, instead of just picking and choosing in mids, roll the character and just play with SOs/basic IOs. Find where the weaknesses lie, what powers you use, and more importantly, which powers you DON'T use (I always forget to hit Dark Consumption because I'm doing something else, so I tend to stop taking it), and then build around that. Like, what's your attack chain? Mesmerize is way under slotted, you skipped levitate, and dominate isn't slotted for damage. No wonder you're underwhelmed, you can't kill, er, arrest anything that way!
  4. Don't have much time to fully comment, but on that last point, yes, slotting confuse for damage will nullify the no-agro flag, preventing you from using it strategically. I suggest the purple confuse set (even though the proc is much better in Mass Comedy) or 5-slotting it with an ATO set. Also, the whole reason to pair Confuse with Dark is to actually give Mind a pet. I'll try to take a closer look at this later and see how we can squeeze that in.
  5. Also, remember that you can have multiple builds on a character! So if need be, you can make a goofy build with Provoke and TP Target to help corral lowbie foes; perfect for the badge where you have to defeat Spectral Pirates on top of the "not Ghostbusters" ghost traps.

  7. I don't think he means Homecoming Extensions, i think he means to disable any extensions while browsing HC, or to whitelist HC within the extensions. Like, if you have a script blocker, it might not let you through because the cloudflare security thingy runs on a script. Or something, idk.
  8. As far as "ringing telephone", it MAY have been a patrol mission that gave a door mission when done?
  9. Ah, but that's the beauty: they DON'T "have" to! They can just keep doing whatever they're doing. No one HAS to have every reward in the game. We're not all pathologically driven to seek out every last scrap of... whatever. This would just be a nice little cherry on top for people who are completionists. At least, that's how I read it. And since there's already plenty of badges that do this already -and I don't see calls to revoke this reward structure- I don't see the issue with adding more. But, trust me, I do kinda get where you're coming from. As much as I'm all for badges and adding secondary rewards to certain milestones, I almost never go out of my way to earn them outside of my main badger. Pain in the butt!

I certainly wouldn't mind some harder-to-get or milestone badges coming with a tangible perk, but I have to agree with the general sentiment that the badges are ALREADY the rewards gained from doing whatever it is that granted them. Then again, the game could always use more carrots. And I don't see an issue with RPers or Base Builders or AE makers missing out on a milestone badge that gives +5% damage since they're not doing anything that requires that bonus anyway. Anyone else is probably well on their way to having that many badges anyway. Not a big deal, IMO.
  12. You might need to fill out a support request with the GMs to straighten that out. Not sure if there's a player-facing way to do what you want...

Adding onto this, Cipher has a post somewhere around here detailing the server infrastructure and costs... we have something like 1 machine for the NA shards, and 15 more for things like the auction house, AE maps, mail server, account server, dev shards, redundancy/backups, etc. So when he mentions consolidation, he's probably talking about some of those.
  14. Guys guys... regen WASN'T nerfed, okay? They just gave every enemy in the game -regen, -hp and/or -heal effects in all their attacks. The Regeneration armor set is just an incidental casualty of this attack rebalancing effort! (I'm joking, in case it needs to be said)
  15. I'm confused. If you (general you) are so tired of playing the game that you don't want to put in the time to play and level up a level 50 character... what are you going to do with that character if they're an insta-50? Play the game? I thought that's what you were tired of doing? Anecdotally, I've been experiencing some burn out and would like to cut the grind, too. But funny thing, that only makes the burn out WORSE. Fallout, GTA, Skyrim, any game I play, when I get bored with it, I resort to cheat codes to wreck face and have a lol. But, THAT gets boring SUPER quick. Like, within an hour. I suspect that insta 50 would be the same thing. It would be fun making max power toons right out of the box, but it would get old after a while. Like, an hour or two. Also, it would circumvent the name policy thing and let folks sit on names without using them, unless these characters also counted as "level 1" for that purpose like PvP50s do.
  16. Dumb idea, but if you're comfortable with messing with your hardware, remove all but one of your ram sticks (make sure to keep the stick in slot 1 seated). If you can get into the game fine and everything runs good, then put all the ram back and try again. If not, or if the game acts up again after putting everything back, try to isolate the ram stick or slot that's acting up. I mean, I doubt it's a hardware issue, but at least this way you can rule it out.
  17. I was just about to point out what Uun just said (and he said it better, to boot!). There should be barely any lts that need to be hit with 2 stacks of anything to be mezzed. Either Wavicle is exaggerating, left something out, or something screwy is going on. Not that this completely negates the need for Doms to be looked at (i too find them a bit clunky), but I don't think the issue is as bad as what is being argued.
  18. I don't know what you people are all so worked up about. This is the best suggestion I've ever seen! No getting all worked up over numbers and math, no over-involved details that get in the way of RPing the set how you want, no "look at me I'm so clever" new mechanics... He cut the BS and got straight to the point. And look, he used icons, folks! Icons! Style over substance, baby, that's the way to do it! =D
  19. It brings up a good question for the devs: what IS the balance threshold we should test for? Obviously, if someone is running out of End and dying a lot at -1/×1, that's a problem. If someone is coasting through +4/x8 without IOs, THAT'S a problem, too. So, what's the in-between?

  22. I mean, you could make an alt account... But no, been there done that, cheeses me off, too. Also, alt accounts wouldn't work for character transfer, you'd have to remake them to test changes to your existing characters. But still, it's an idea.

  24. *points at his avatar* Way back when i first started playing, I wasn't too enthused. I had tried an empathy defender, and I think a katana/dark scrapper, and neither of them impressed me too much. But one day I join a team, and I keep seeing dudes getting THROWN INTO THE AIR and I'm like "woah, what powerset is that?!" and the person said "Mind Control!" and I was all "oh damn, I gots to roll me one of those!" And so I did. What got me hooked is that I didn't have a backstory for her at first. I knew she was psychic, so I made sure her name, Patty-Sue Ivanova, accronym'd to "PSI" because I'm effin' clever like that =P So I decided that SHE didn't know her backstory either, just her name. And as I played through the game, I carefully read all the mission text and clues to see which character or enemy group she would most likely be tied to. The Skulls, Hellions or CoT? Nah, she wasn't magical. Outcasts? They were mutants (what I had put her origin as), but they were all elementalists, not, er, mentalists. Council? They had some good tech, buuut they seemed too focused on turning people into werewolves and vampires, not making them psychic. Just as I started to doubt I'd be able to tie PSI's origins to anything in the game, I started running the Crey arcs. And HO-LE crapoli, it all fell together! Brainwashing? Cloning supers? Their BOSS was a pale-skinned, dark-haired woman with Psychic powers?!?! It was PERFECT! i "discovered" that it would totally fit that PSI could be, not just another Crey project, but a clone of the countess herself! Like a body-double, in case anything ever happened to CC herself, and she needed a new body to put her mind into (like what Prof X wound up doing in both the comics and the movies, to a degree). I never quite figured out how Crey would have let this project slip through their fingers (it mostly revolves around the body double gaining sentience and murdering her way out of the lab), but I've gotten some good mileage out of the concept. And so even though she isn't my most fun or powerful character (devs plz buff MC k thnx), she still remains my favorite!
