issue 27 Focused Feedback: Sonic Attack Revamp
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Okay. Some power analysis on good old Pylon #17 and I'm still in the meh camp. The longer debuff durations are welcomed but it feels like the 8% and 12% are the wrong way around. Not sure why the tier 1 & 2 have to share a debuff as well. Just means Scream is hugely skippable on Defenders now unless you've the power pick available to treat the Tier one as a dead power., *Edit : That means really you're waiting for Screech at 35 for a decent single target chain on a Defender which is the sort of late-build power pressure Domis Assaults suffer from, which suck. -
issue 27 Focused Feedback: Sonic Attack Revamp
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Tried a brief, unrespecced version of my Time/Sonic soloing some Council. Bear in mind I don't have Sirens, the KB cone or the Stun so can't test those yet. Overall a slight damage buff solo but the -Res nerf is going to make him much less useful on teams. So seems like a buff to Sonic Blasters and a nerf for Sonic Defenders (who picks Defenders for their damage output?) . Meh. -
That looks good to me. Never realised Ice Minstrals is so good for Hotfeet, good damage and better End reduction than something like Oblits. Nice! Only meh would be Bonfire. 1.25 Ranged Def isn't amazing for 5 slots and it's nice to have a Forced Feedback in there, But that's a tiny niggle really.

This. FF will try and proc when you drop the mine. Any which trigger as the mine/seeker/bomb is exploding and dying don't work

Yup. 801s feature a lot of debuffs. Dark Affinity Controller is probably more useful than a Time Defender for 801s simply because there's a lot of -def flying around. Ageless radial is also excellent for the debuff protection (saved my Rad tank soloing one of the lower 801s multiple times, gave me time to beat a retreat to a choke point and regroup/recharge). +resist, absorb and heals are really useful. RDR is built into resists. Nature's healing patch is useful too because the fights tend to be more prolonged and based on choke points (you really don't want to just charge into a room, they've +perception and there's plenty of patrols wandering around). Personally of my rota of supports I'd bring Carni (illusion/dark) with an Ageless radial if I was asked to bring a defensive support. Mind you watch out for the odd Tar Patcher in 801s. Mob tar patch is still the unresistible version for some reason. Dropping from 85%/90% to ~60% hurts like hell. Thankfully Tar Patch debuffs only last while you're standing on one.

For me Scrappertanking as the only / main tank really really annoys me. The ones who are indestructible but seem to be blind to the fact they've overaggroed in an ITF and the rest of the team aren't as IOd out or are sidekicks and are being slaughtered by the stacking buffs. My SG mates and I did an ITF with a tank like that recently and it was a horrific experience. Most of us were on leveling chars and really struggling but as long as they were alive it was irrelevant. We ended up kicking them after several angry exchanges (actually due to dumb, horrible stuff they started spewing) and just doing it on a lower diff and all was fine. Although singling out Tanks are s unfair of me, it really boils down to refusing to play as a team (things like speed-stealthing stalkers zooming to the end of missions and completing them falls into the same bracket)
-
I power level most new chars to an interesting point. That's typically 22 or 27. Doesn't take too long with my Fire/Claws tank. Then I just them out with the beginnings of their final build. I like IOing as I go, feels like the build is maturing, especially in the 30s. Only real reason for it is Reunion is typically quiet so not a lot of lowbie teams going, especially since I tend to play slightly later than peak. I don't really need to farm, although I do splurges of craft/convert/market occasionally for Inf.

As @Meknomancer says PBU is exaggerating your Def numbers Personally I'd aim for something like this. Although I'd switch Medicine for Frost Breath (slotted with Artillery) and Maneuvers. Or at least replace Aid Other with Injection (you have O2 Boost)
-
It counts as Enhancement based +recharge for calculating if procs go off, so it lowers your chances of them triggering. I'd go Cardiac on a stormie. The Forced Feedbacks will give you decent injections of recharge anyway and Storm is very End heavy (I'd also consider Mu as your epic for Power Sink and better Resist armour)
-
Dark version is half the recharge and 15 foot rather than 10 (this is a big difference) Honestly the Soul version is pointless as-is. I'd bet there'll be some fix for the Dark version, likely they'll end up the same at some point. Howling slotting seems fine, possibly it's a little to long recharging for procs to be really worth it overall but they will trigger. Remember the Stun only affect Minions on its own, but Rad has Cosmic and you have Oppressive to stack with it.

You could go the Resist Shield + melee & ranged def route instead. Makes you pretty robust. Something like this

Dark / Rad Control Build - Thoughts, Comments, Improvements?
Carnifax replied to Bananiac's topic in Controller
You're missing some useful powers, Heart of Darkness & Enervating Field (your -Res toggle). This is 1 second off perma-hasten but has more ranged Def (and more toys). You could replace the slotting of HoD with 5 of the Stun purple set (and an Armageddon proc) to get it back if you liked. -
Dark / Rad Control Build - Thoughts, Comments, Improvements?
Carnifax replied to Bananiac's topic in Controller
If you're going Mace Poison Ray is more -resist and pretty proccable to shore up your single target damage. Might be worth dropping Vengie for it and stealing slots for it. One slot free in AM since two +5 recharge IOs caps it anyway. I'd be inclined to rob slots from Maneuvers or Living Shadows to give it oomph. -
Well the enemy tar patch is a bug. They fixed the player version being tagged Unresistable a while back but forgot to apply it to the version Mobs get (some of the Shepard missions in First Ward have it too). Only plus is Tar Patch has a short duration (unlike Sleet / FR) so getting out of the patch sorts it. Nothing should torpedo Resists if your uncapped resists are > 85% really (in the 801 even with multiple Sleets & Penetrating Rays I was grand).
-
Just watch out for rogue Tar Patches. Those are unresistable so they'll cut right through you (aka "Why are my resists only ~40% all of a sudden"). Just ran 801.2 on my Rad/Martial. Mostly grand til I spotted that. It's not common though (or wasn't for me).
-
I haven't noticed anything weird with it. Mine is slotted with 5 Oblits (not the proc cos they don't work) and a KB2KD. Running yesterdays run of my Rad/Devices (vs +4s / +5s) through the Parser Acc is where I'd expect it. So best I can say is upload your log file to https://www.carnifax.org and you should get some figures for it.
-
Proccing out a nuke totally is a little unusual. You're sacrificing a lot of slotted damage & recharge for the procs. I'd be inclined towards Superior Frozen Blast instead to give you a heap of AOE Def. I'd also consider swapping Aim and Tactics in terms of position and slotting. Personally I like the "Chance for Build-up" to be on demand, so you can go Sleet > Aim (+Chance for Build up) > Nuke and everything dies. And as Uun says Sleet only really needs Recharge (it will stack too vs AVs) so slots to play with.
-
Here's one I cobbled together from crossing my Grav/Trick Arrow and Plant/Stormie. Mace can be annoying with the redraw so Mu or Fire could be an alternative. All 3 are viable Oil Slick lighters (pretty much the only reason I took Disruptor Blast. You could easily go for a Tech origin and use Taser but just blasting the area with a Fire or Energy AoE is easier). Poisonous Rays -Resist stacks nicely with Disruption and the Net. Proc heavy, you can of course drop some for Moar Def but ~30% + Flash Arrow will get you to softcap generally.
-
Possibly more annoying though. The snakey-ladies have a lot of visual spam, Knives have caltrops (I still find the knives pretty easy but they can pop a squishy with their Hail of Bullets), Tsoo and the BP have annoyances like Hurricane and nasty debuffs. I think Claves point about "Any level can join" is appropriate too. I'd feel bad if I dragged a level 15 into DA missions.
-
Yep, okay is about right because only the sword attacks will trigger it. Cloud Senses is good on the Lich (everything bar his hold procs it if I remember right). Achilles & Shield Breaker are very good on Enforcers. And Explosive Strike (kB proc) is very very good on a Bruiser.
-
Yep, like Nemo says field op + stealth Io is great for toebombing. Although Blaster Trip Mine is a smaller boom but quicker with no interrupt compared to Traps one. You do need Def to survive a Nuke alpha (they'll get one shot off). Note that Trip won't consume the 60% damage buff from Targeting Drone. I'm unsure if it inherits it (I suspect it does but only for 0.75 seconds so it's possibly ineffective) I considered FF in Trip Mine but haven't gotten round to it yet.
-
Darks cones don't really play well with the Poison tier 9 though. You really want to exploit that extra 25% -resist it gives you. Water you can at least use the AoE and Whirlpool point blank. Rad is an option. It's proccy, the "cone" is skippable anyway and you get a PBAoE and a (slow) AoE along with a Snipe. Plus it's a close theme fit. Elec might work too. Poisons trap does -Recovery rather than Regen so gels a bit with Short Circuit. And it gets a decent AoE in Ball Lightning (and no cones). Not the most thematic for you though. Word of warning on Corrosive Vial, at the moment it's very poor indeed.
-
On Reunion we've lots of TFs and trials. I'll happily join discord as long as I don't have to talk. Things like speedruns and itrials we tend to use it, especially badge runs. It's a useful tool for those. Regular TFs we usually don't bother
-
Here's one based on my Elec/Poison (with the Kin part mostly coming from a DP/Kin Corruptor). More emphasis on damage (eventually) with Cross Punch and the Earth epic. Obviously you can yay or nay Earths Embrace, I like it on Elec/Poison but you could go for a travel power or Increased Density instead. I'd probably shuffle Transference into the 40s to open Fissure & Seismic a wee bit earlier.
-
Nope, it can proc on jumps. Literally just tested it on a couple of x8 spawns. Not sure on how effective it is overall though.
