Pretty much this. Elec/Poison controller looked interesting so I built a build for that. While doing that the concept of a glowy neon green "computer virus come to life" happened. "Malwire" hit me as an pun on Malware when I was working on the cossie. Fire/Claws tank I started thinking about rotisserie chicken and spatchcock BBQ so a giant chicken called Barbed DeQue was born. So I tend to be set driven and concept hits while I'm build pondering. Pun name usually comes last. Except Mombie (Necro/Nature). That happened all at once.

Symphony / Dark - Anyone got a good endgame build?
Carnifax replied to Mr. Apocalypse's topic in Dominator
If you mean Sleet & Ice Storm youll be better off putting the procs elsewhere I'm afraid. Rains count as pseudopets with toggles on so the recharge for calculating the proc rate is fixed at 10 seconds. Coupled with the large AoE that gives you a low proc rate (I parsed it out for Freezing Rain, running x8 radios solo to test, and it was blargh). -
Trip Mine is more flexible, just thanks to its short recharge, it's not a "once every 2nd spawn" thing like Oil Slick. But yes it takes a while to get there (honestly I PLed my Ice/Traps to 30 like I do with most of my chars now).
-
Traps has the advantage of Trip Mine. It's hella annoying when you get interrupted but it still makes up the bulk of my damage solo. Even without doing the "make a little death camp then Fold Space everything into it". In fairness the Fear from Shivers should gel with it pretty well.

Traps loves Recharge first of all. Like really really likes it. Also Ice has meh damage so Sorcery for Arcane Bolt is a really good idea. Epic wise hard to look past Earth for melee compatible powers and Forced Feedback in Fissure along with a Def shield and a Heal / +HP which can take Resist uniques. Mine was born of when Sorcery got the revamp and Fold Space became a thing and isn't Page 4 compatible (no Shiver) so could be considered out of date. Conceptually he's a "Junkbot", I recoloured Ice to look like Pollution Control and it works quite well. I skipped quite a few Traps powers (Caltrops, Seekers and Triage) in order to squeeze in Teleport and Sorcery. Obviously you don't need to do that if you don't want (I was also running a Thugs / Traps at around the same time so wanted them to have different flavours). And a planned Page 4 Respec I'm kind of reluctant to do (because I enjoy Enflame on Jack a lot)

No I mean when you ping them "brb", alt and as soon as you alt they invite you before you can do the lfg teleport thing to the TF contact. Just them being uber-efficient. Not some weird stalker thing. Has happened a few times to me 😃
-
I'm in the "save me a spot, I'm alting. Need anything in particular?" followed by "back" once I do alt (and probably used the lfg teleporter to get to the contact). That's why I don't want the leader monitoring my Global. I might be back but I'm probably trying to find the TF in the list to Solo queue so I can get teleported to them before I'm actually ready to go. Especially for an itf.

Poison Ray over Disruption blast imo. Lots of procs in it. You aren't going to notice Disruption on teams but poison is a good "hard target" attack with decent -res in it. I'd also be looking to proc ice arrow and acid but understand the need to go sets for quicker recharge for perma PAs Arcane bolt over spectral isn't something I'd do personally. I love arcane on some of my controllers but the animation can be annoying. On my Ill/Dark/Sorcery I skipped Arcane and went Spectral + Poison Ray
-
Plant : Seeds & Creepers, single target hold are must have. Flytrap is a decent pet. AoE Immob is useful for Storm. Vines is skippable but it's occasionally useful and takes nice sets (I went Lockdown for the Ranged Def & extra hold mag for a few seconds) Storm : Freezing Rain is the beast in here. Steamy mist, Tornado (with a Knockback to Knockdown IO) and Lightning are decent. Hurricane and O2 are situational but I take them. Hurricane is a monster -ToHit debuff but you need to learn how to use it to push enemies where you want them rather than scattering them randomly. My build is here. I like Ice epic for the Freezing Rain + Roots + Ice Storm combo.

issue 27 Focused Feedback: Ice Control Changes
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I thought I did? Need to go back and check now. -
This is worth it. On my Ice/Traps it does a lot of my damage. Granted this table is in highly favourable conditions (solo, lots of +2/3 enemies and some Fold Spacing) but its around the same as Jack + procced up Poison Gas Trap + Fissure. Spectral should give you some protection to drop it.

In fairness we got good Arcane Bolt and Enflame out of all that drama so it ended up well ("Good" is possibly a strong word for Enflame now. "Not dogpoo" might be better) Pity the ball wasn't carried in sorting out the other two origin pools, they've still got a fair amount of poo in there)

^ This. The reason is you can still hit caps pretty easily and Corruptors damage cap is 100% higher than defenders (along with the increased base damage numbers). Note that it's not all DoT that Scourge works well with, just any "patch" type Rains which need to continually make ToHit rolls, because that seems to also be when the chance to scourge is tested. So every Rain tick individually rolls for Scourge and because scourge is more likely with lower health the gradual erosion of HP due to the ticks means more and more follow-on scourging ticks.

I totally get that. Dual Pistols > Hail of Bullets with the Winters Avalanche "Chance for Knockdown" is one of my favourite things in the game. If I had 3 slots from somewhere Frozen Blast Recharge/%Immob, Ragnarok %Knockdown and a +5 recharge IO would totally be how I'd slot it now.
-
End is fine generally to be honest. Not sure why you think I need to run +0s (seems like an unwarranted comment in general). I haven't really struggled too much with the blue bar. Numbers aren't inflated on my Mids, I have the flags switched on (I always do that) Yeah this isn't my blapper, cos Water sucks for that. I have other blasters for blapping. This is specifically my floaty ranged blaster. I used to have the PBAoE but it sucked so went with Future Pain instead.
-
This is neat, but I'm now also looking at the Superior Frozen Blast for the Immob while still slotting it for recharge. Seems useful.
-
Personally I like Clouded Senses in Spectral for the increased -ToHit but your build seems pretty solid. Other than that from my experience using Disruptor Blast for moar AoE Epic AoEs aren't fantastic on a set with not much AoE Containment. If I was bothered respeccing I'd probably pick the Tarantula from Mace. I've Poisonous Ray rather than Arcane Bolt (for the extra -resist and how proccable it is). Here's Carni anyway with that planned change. Close enough to perma PAs for me.

issue 27 Focused Feedback: Ice Control Changes
Carnifax replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
But then how would I be able to parse out that Arctic Air confused things 196 times. (You think that's bad, check out Burn or Freezing Rain in the logs .... ) -
Here's mine, which is a safe-ish hover blaster. Dehydrate, Temporal Healing + Hoarfrost makes you pretty tanky. Could easy choose another Epic if you prefer. > if there's particular powers I should be using with Tidal Forces Geyser or Water Jet or Water Burst depending on the situation. Chronos + Tidal + Geyser is a hell of a nuke. Water Jet "double taps", which works nicely with procs so when fighting bosses etc I spend my orange circle on Water Jet. Rare you want to be wasting an Orange on Dehydrate.

IO-wise I use this Level 35: Tornado (A) Overwhelming Force - Damage/Chance for Knockdown/Knockback to Knockdown (43) Force Feedback - Chance for +Recharge (43) Expedient Reinforcement - Accuracy/Damage (43) Expedient Reinforcement - Accuracy/Recharge (45) Expedient Reinforcement - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge (45) Expedient Reinforcement - Endurance/Damage/Recharge Gives you a Recharge Set bonus, converts the Knockback to knockdown (very important) and every time you drop one you get +100% recharge for 5 seconds from the Forced Feedback.
-
Deceive has excellent sets available. And it doesn't alert so if you're doing something hard it can be useful to make them fight each other before actually starting the fight (although PAs are usually good enough). I usually proc-bomb Poison Trap, it's very good at it. 3 Hold Damage procs (including the purple), Lockdown for the extra Hold mez and 2 +5 recharge IOs is good enough for me. That leaves the other 5 Purple IOs to go into Blind for the set bonus. I strongly suggest slotting Spectral with -ToHit IOs. 4 Dark Watchers is what I use. It does a LOT of -ToHit and half of it is enhancable.
-
So Arctic Air is bad for Procs, thanks to the fixed 10 second recharge (because it's a toggle / aura) + huge AoE. Your proc rate will be awful. Go for Malaises or the purple set (depending on budget). I also wouldn't worry about the uniques in Jack too much. He's reasonably tanky anyway, go for set bonuses here too, like 6 Expedients. Poison Trap on the other hand does Proc very well. Here's my planned Page 4 build Ice/Traps/Stone (basically I'll be swapping Enflame out for Shivers, even though I love setting Jack on fire). Stone is excellent for Ice because you'll want to be in close for Arctic. Plus you get a Heal / +Health which can take Resist IOs. I've taken Teleport for Fold Space and Sorcery for Arcane and Rune. Def capped but a little bit of an "eggshell" build (anything really good at debuffing Def will give you a bad time) but at least you have Earths Embrace.
-
No, not especially that I've noticed. Certainly not compared to my Fire/NRG Domi (which is painful).
-
Wormhole certainly needs the ability to teleport +3 bosses. And reducing the animation time would be nice too It's very annoying tping most of a group into my Trick Arrow death patch but the bosses stay put.
