the Widow Files : Widow Builds Issue 27 Page 6
Harakh replied to Harakh's topic in Arachnos Soldier & Widow
Did i test or pay attention to that fact on my widow, I did not. However, within the power description in game I believe it's listed (on my phone atm). Thanks for the info I will review and revise if needed ________ Logged on, per power description of lightning cages, Believe knockdown, would be "knockup"? But "knock" is listed as well. Few quick test hits on mobs seems to corroborate kd is nullified. ____ Have you tested that controller immos no longer nul knockdown? Looking at just a few control sets, -"knockup" & -"knock" effects present in some. ... I may try in a bit... -

That seems to be the most commonly agreed upon nonpositional skills. Over the years I've seen mentioning of other attacks that simply weren't marked, or flagged is how it's put, even if they should of been. I've no proof either way, but since I'm using mind link to reach incarnate defense values, not worried either way if only a few extra skills are covered. I will be testing my builds, watching more closely at soft capped/over capped performance differences and overall flow speed. -

There are two builds posted. You are commenting on the lvl 45+ build, as if its the "exempt build", it is not. If you're referring to exempting down to level 45, you would lose just a few set bonuses, build remains 100% viable (I do actually have some attuned - no whole sets - will update in OP): At level 45 with what I'm currently running the bonuses lost are: Large Regen x1 (16.74 lv45 vs 18.47 lv50) Small Hp x2 (1549 lv45 vs 1634 lv50) Large Hp x1 Large Immo duration x1 Large Movement x1 Improved Recovery x1 Moderate End discount x1 I'm mostly seeking Hp for level 50+ content, but am not against attuning the enhancements. And are the only bonuses listed above I miss. The reason you use mind link even if you have 45%+ positional defenses, is for all other defenses. ...under the impression that not all attacks are "coded" aoe, ranged, or melee, and may just simply be Fire, Ice, Energy, etc. So having higher defenses besides positionals, which would be the only defenses 45+ w/o mind link, helps for that reason. Spin, I have been running through new builds since making that post, and have traded out spin. Some skills were slotted for set bonuses. If I had your same mind frame regarding the usage of mind link, I'd agree to lessen the slots (if I was still running with spin). Health points on widows are more useful than on many other builds. The lower HP a widow has, the higher their resistances becomes. In video clips above, you will see a few hits, where due to having some what of an HP pool + resistances, boss hits barely phased me. VS. if i run on my exemplar build, which currently isn't running tough, and with 1526 health, one hit from a smash/lethal lieutenant mob can knock me out. at lower HP (which is where widows will often play due to this resistance mechanic). If HP points weren't the 2nd/3rd bonus of choice for my current build, my shields would definitely get an overhaul. HP never has been a focus of mine before, but has made my widow feel so much more durable. Touching on Melee defense, first secondary, required, skill: Widows don't need extra melee, will be your highest defense naturally. My experience may change as I spend more time on each of my two builds, the level 45+ build, and the exempt build, as RNG gods may strike heavy one way or another. Will update OP build tonight. -
Which human form powers work in nova or dwarf?

Lol, clickery-witchery. If you're logged on the AT and want to read complete power descriptions, /respec, can buy one from AH for cheap if you don't have. Or, character creation screen, pull up the AT and read the powers. -

Great insights, thank you. I'll have to give that a try. Will take slot from TB for 4th slot, and move toxic proc into 3rd slot, as tb is becoming less frequently used. -

You're looking at the old build again 🙂 as I had mentioned a few minutes ago, was updating. And the Proc is in Follow Up because it is supposed to be a Global proc, IDK if its working properly tho. Secondly, cause it has recharge attached, bringing follow-up quicker, where as I don't care about its damage so much, and wanted that set to be split for the bonuses this felt like my best outcome. Going to try the fear proc in spin, and looking further into the spin slotting suggestions, thanks! -

No worries, in the processes of cleaning it up now to help prevent that from happening again. -

Killing a moment while in my frozen car heating up ... You're right the set bonuses from both fully slotted confuse powers are beneficial. So again, from your standing you're absolutely right. My build is maxed on purples tho so I don't need to fully slot single target confuse as its the lesser used of the two. Mass hypnosis has it's places mainly solo-concept play for me. 10 years ago a younger lad playing a fire blaster teamed with a mind controller inside the Hollows cave system waiting for the rest of the team to show. Watching him use confuse and as I can recall a much faster recharging mass hypnosis was satisfying to a degree no other even more powerful sets can fulfill for me. Do i need MH? As easily lead to no. But I enjoy it, and can manage to get use of it. I'd love to see your doms! I'll jump on later and try and catch up with you. ... Dear Lord I'm getting old. Was more like 16 years ago hah!
-
??? What bonuses are you referring to? I'm skipping 1 bonus being the 6th slot bonus in our above example, and thats with a non purple set because my build is maxed on purples bonuses. Where are you getting your defence numbers? I'd love to see the build cause those numbers and I assume perma dom would be a pretty gimped build imo, if you can actually achieve them. Mass hypnosis is by far not a waste of a power pick for MY play style. "...to each their own" ... I regret ever using this statement toward another cause it reads like such bs. The convo was healthy enough without useless sentiment.

The reasoning for contagious proc isn't reapplied fear but to spread fear to missed mobs. The damage proc is very little in the scheme of aoe dmg. The plus side to a damage proc in mc would be the player application of damage to receive xp if you're not going to cast any other damage skills. I enjoy soloing 4/7 or 8 and the aggro free cast from it as well as mass hypnosis really pulls through on spread mobs. Having terrify procd covers anything mass confuse would attempt to bring via dmg proc. If playing a controller I'd definitely damage proc the skill. Doms generally have that covered tho.
-
True, I had this at one time. Felt like I was robbing myself of mass confuses no aggro feature. Switched mass confuse to 5 mal + contagious proc. And tuned down the single target confuse to just 2 slots. Thought I'd be old schooling confuse more often but find I'm not. Gave me slots for an extra attack in my case without losing any purple bonuses (recharge) as I kept the source max at 5.

Pros and cons are pretty equal imo. Fire/Dark will be an easier, safer class to solo but much slower at first. At 50 I built mine and solo'd 2 AVs at the same time, lvl 52s. On raid teams the control set is pretty much no benefit. This will be the same for control on dom for raiding. However a buddy and I running x2 dominators would perma hold some hard encounters (don't have a list of which mobs this is/nt possible on). Fire/fire dom is gonna feel squishy as hell before defenses and the mighty perma dom come into play. You'll do well when you're the first to attack but ambush or accidental pulls can be more hazardess if your AoE trolls aren't up. If I had to choose just one. I'd choose dom. If you can manage a perma dom build that also can exempt (if you plan on going back for missed content/replay) having mez protection on a blapper-trol just feels amazing. Much more patience to play however: My fire/dark trol runs +4/x8 pretty much all mob types at level 50. Slower, easy, and imo boring. Dom struggles with arachnos due to heavy trol resistance bosses but can make manage. Otherwise I can't get over being a blaster-scrapper-controller feel.

I second this. Last weekend I played 3 respecs on my mind/nrg dom. The last spec I slotted 6 - ascendance in the single target hold. It procs real often. Seeing as it's the fastest casting single target hold, other power specs will proc a tiny bit better. I can concur I'm often running 1-2 stacks, and really not uncommon to stack 3.

Been playing mind dom the last couple weeks. Finding mass hypnosis useful during solo, and team play. When solo I implement MH at the end of my AoE attack chain to keep baddies closer together preventing a bunch of run aways. Or right before they begin to spread after using mass confusion. Teaming, running a task force MH saved team from mass-death. Since MH is aggro free its very handy to sleep a near by mob to prevent an early fight, or sleep the current group before team wipes if going down. Also, as already mentioned is useful as an interruption.

Feel free to share the build here. I haven't updating this post any further. I got pulled back into my badger-widow. Am interested in comparing our builds before I do.
