  1. But @Greycat, then people would have to actually play the game and participate in **gasp** cooperative group content... Or, y'know, run one of the TFs that gives the equivalent.
  2. I'm gonna go on a bit of a tangent here, so please feel free to ignore me if so desired, but I really wish, instead of remakes of previous movies, that we'd get extensions or expansions of them. For instance, my partner and I were discussing Lilo & Stitch, and how it'd be the perfect launching pad for a new space opera franchise - imagine a teenage or young adult Lilo as the first full-fledged human agent of the Galactic Federation - romping around the galaxy with Stitch, investigating crime, saving planets, and generally meeting interesting people and visiting amazing new places. You could keep focus on the notion of Ohana/family, how different societies and lifestyles are just as valid as all others, but still keep people entertained with good action and deep storytelling...
  3. But who's gonna call out the quantums???
  4. You do realize that none of the projectile weapon sets are accurate, right? Do you ever see our characters reload? Where's all the ammo? It's called suspension of disbelief, and a powerset need only be feasible, not correct to real-world equivalents.
  5. Irrelevant - it is physically possible, and we are talking about a superhero game. Show me a clip where a person is throwing ice beams out of their hands IRL that freeze targets, who then recover with no ill effects after a few seconds. Do you realize how silly that sounds?
  6. Maybe tied to "The Lady Grey", since they mention several times that they utilize magic to combat the Rikti. Either way, those enhancements use a generic alien icon...
  7. Soldiers are trained to carefully control their trigger pulls, as opposed to relying upon some in-built mechanism to limit how many rounds are fired. While getting only a single shot out of an M60 or SAW may be difficult, it isn't impossible. Since we are in a fantastical setting, it is certainly feasible that our characters would possess the skill to get off only a single round, if they so desired...
  8. Ever look closely at the Single-Origin enhancements? They are just wacky. How are "greys", as in the stereotypical aliens, magic origin? Apparently "catalysts" are mutation, not science, and it would seem that dragons, (or at least various aspects of them), are natural...
  9. Congrats. Love Sents!
  10. If I had to guess, I'd say that there were probably different developers/artists working on the textures, and perhaps some were meant to be used on much smaller items, but were instead stretched to accommodate larger meshes, thus the blurry look; If those boxes on the right were 1/4 the size, they'd probably look fine.
  11. Yeah - the problem is that the origins are quite vague. As @Player2 intimated, what one player defines as "magic" another player may declare a natural innate ability of their character's race. A primitive character may treat a nanotech item as a magical talisman. Who is the objective arbiter that will say, definitively, which is correct? **Queue mandatory argument as to whether Superman's abilities are a "natural" result of his race's interaction with our sun, or whether said exposure falls under "science"**
  12. I'd rather have all animations available to everyone, and perhaps a bit of a tutorial or in-game guide explaining how to set the options each player wants for their characters.
  13. No, my argument is that not everything will or should be attainable for every player, that rewards should be earned legitimately, and that it is ok to not "have it all".
  14. I'm not surprised, I just don't see why such activities should be further enabled. But when you get right down to it, isn't "intent" all that really matters? CoH was intended to be a way for us to bring our various hero and villain concepts "to life" in some form, a way to create something that, from the character creation screen to the last time we ever play them, involves making decisions that impact the course that character took and brought us both enjoyment and fond memories. Along with all that, though, comes having to say "I want to do this with the character, which means I can't do that", which involves *not* being able to attain certain milestones/badges/etc. If the dev team took a stance that "exploiting the various game mechanics in order to achieve things you really shouldn't be able to" was wrong and that they would take steps to combat it, then so be it. All that permitting or encouraging such behaviors does is to devalue those players who did attain those things through legitimate play, and given how much the consequences for making bad decisions in-game have been lessened, shouldn't there be a concerted effort to retain the meaningfulness of those "insane badge number requirements"? I mean, do you really want 10s or 100s of people AFK in Echo:DA to farm merits? How long until we just have the beta server freebies menu, then? The more things get devalued, the shorter player retention becomes, since everything you attain becomes worth less and less...
  15. I'm more interested in what appears to be a reprogrammed commando droid. Other than that, there's really nothing piquing my interest...
  16. Do you happen to know if this then reduces the chance of them proccing for/on you?
  17. Sounds more like a PEBKAC situation, if you ask me...
  18. Which is irrelevant, because the OP was talking about Thor at the end of Ragnarok, i.e. the one WITHOUT Mjolnir...
  19. Servers getting restarted is pretty routine. Don't conflate a temporary/maintenance shutdown with a permanent one. I assure you, there's be much more of a hullabaloo if that was the case...
  20. The -DEF in rad melee also allows for some other set types.
  21. Champions Online implemented something which, while sounding good on paper, was not terribly utilized - sometimes while wandering in a zone, (mainly the main hub zone, Millennium City), you'll get a popup that you see a crime in progress or something out of the ordinary, and can accept a related mission. The problem is that they are neither rewarding nor interesting enough to be any sort of reliable source of content. I much prefer the general reliability and accessibility of CoH's radio/newspaper contacts. Those could stand a bit of customization and enhancement, though - like choosing the enemy group(s) you want to fight, excluding hostage/escort missions, and so on...
  22. Keep it simple - fire/thermal, or maybe beam/traps if you're feeling extra adventurous.
  23. This whole thread sounds like bait to me, trying to spark the ire of people for or against the remake.
  24. I have several controllers that I enjoy playing. To be honest, outside of certain sets having unique powers or behaviors, like gravity control being more "blastery" or having wormhole, I find that the secondary has more impact on how that character performs. For instance, my earth control/pain domination controller is far more of a support character than my gravity/kinetics one. Are there any particular areas you need help in or are unfamiliar with? Perhaps sharing your own experience with controlelrs might help us establish a base-line...
  25. Just how all-seeing are the Menders of Ouroboros? It's be interesting if Mender Silos provided narration for the larger, world/dimension-level stuff, and perhaps Blue Shield or Back Alley Brawler provided more ground-level commentary...
