Any devs care to chime in on what they see with this event on the back end? Is it left over testing? Is it supposed to be an event, but was never finished?
I really have no idea who does zone work or modifications so I'll just tag 'em all @Faultline @Captain Powerhouse @Cobalt Arachne @Piecemeal

Why do people live there?
Its riddled with crime. Street level to world ending and everything in-between
There's a prison in the middle of the city. Not good for property values.
Literally giant monsters roam free.
Home to a nuclear reactor that is attacked weekly.
No recreation. What is there to do besides go to a park (and get mugged)? The only night club still operating is interdimensional. Why dont we have any sports stadiums, golf course, etc.? (I think there is a bowling alley, right?)
If it was me I'd take the first plane outta there.... Oh wait... No airport...
At the risk of applying reality to a fictional world... I would like to operate the blimp that patrols Atlas Park. (Move over Captain James Finney, the Spirit of Freedom is mine!!!)
Edit: There are indeed airports, but I would recommend the many maritime vessels around Paragon City, as it is a port city first and foremost.

Could have sworn there was no way out on that mission. Maybe i was in a different one.
I know that feeling! After reading Veracor's post, I made another effort to look under both islands for more geometry holes and didn't find any. In fact, I've looked under both islands in both mission maps cited in my original post, even though they are identical. Now I could've reproduced Veracor's results a year ago, but the exploit has since been patched.

Thanks, @Glacier Peak !
I kind of have a rough idea of how the event in RV works, but I've never done it. I was thinking all of the heroes would spawn, but I guess it's only a couple at a time. So the process might take a bit longer than I'm thinking, which is okay.
You are more than welcome to join in, even as a blue sider for pillbox swapping if needed!
Our shenanigans...

All fair suggestions - however, the entire purpose of the thread was because I created an alt that I wanted to log in to once a week and do the least amount of work while slowly increasing their inf.
-
So, lemme get this straight. I need to do the following to get this event to activate:
1. Proceed to the location of the cube
2. Defeat 12 Seers & 100 PPD (while remaining in this location?)
3. Success - Watch the Hamidon arms flail around

! MInf a week? That should be doable with just running a a Dark Astoria arc. Common IO drops at level 50 vendor for ~100 KInf on average.
Absolutely doable using your suggested method, but my aim is to do as little as possible to make that amount per week. The above suggestion from Yomo has proven sufficient in that regard. Place orders on common salvage at set price on the market at the beginning of week, sell purchased stack to vendor at the end of week. Repeat once a week.

Praetorian Hamidon does not have a body ingame and I don't think he has one in the files either. A year ago I did some shenanigans to go out of bounds on the "Rescue Marauder" mission to explore the map because I was curious how its horizon was made:
Basically, the main takeaways I found were:
- The tentacles are very large 3d models that rise up beyond the treeline, then fall back down under the map and disappear until their next wave cycle. They connect to nothing.
- The Avatars of Hamidon are supersized versions of the regular Avatar (From the Underground itrial) and appear to be implemented as cars that drive around the streets.
- There's actually about 20 or so Seeds of Hamidon in the mission even though only about 4 or 5 render from the playable area. Some are even flying above the zone's ceiling. Hax!
- All three city zones (Nova Praetoria, Imperial City, Neutropolis) were mashed together with lots of randomly-missing geometry, such as streets and hills. Similar to Grandville's missing geometries if you go out of bounds on MLTF mission 1 to explore the horizon.
- All of the entities out of bounds were untargettable and had no collision, and did nothing but make noise while moving around the map.
The tentacles you see in this mission can also be seen in regular Nova Praetoria as part of a hidden zone-wide event that resets every 30 minutes. I had actually forgotten about this reclusive find entirely until writing this post. I guess I'll put it into a new thread to avoid going off-topic.
Excellent! Thanks for the assist!

I like this list! (even the silly ones) Did you like mine, out of curiosity? 😀
The electric blast idea was good, I think that something like that might be looked at in the future.

Interesting! i thought it was always invisible (except in badge count).
As a badger, I totally understand the desire to get this badge. I think, though, that badges that are unattainable by pretty much the entire player base is not really a good thing.
I am only just over 1k badges ,and I could care less about being the most badgey-ist badger evah. BUT to a lot of people, getting ALL the badges is important, and there should be a way (or no bug hunter badge)?
Hey thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, players can be awarded this badge, it is not out of reach or unobtainable - in fact many players have it and continue to be awarded it. The link I had in my previous post shows over a dozen players receiving the Bug Hunter badge for their efforts in supporting testing beta and alpha Page and Issue builds. This method is the only way I know to receive Bug Hunter on the live shards.
To provide further context, I enjoy finding bugs and exploits in this great game. I did a lot of searching for geometry errors because it was (and honestly still is) a hobby of mine. That evolved in to testing out changes on the Beta shard out of both curiosity and convenience. I read a post one day from Jimmy saying that testers were needed to help support the dev team, so I showed up and started focusing on what needed looked at and tested. From their I became more involved in the process and reporting my findings until one day I was awarded the badge. My anecdote mirrors the same method as other folks who have received this badge in the past, though some have been awarded it outright for reporting serious exploits on the Live shards.
All that to say that it is not out of reach of the average player, and best of all it is a nice incentive for players to support testing - which honestly rewards the rest of the community by making the game better for everyone!

Something Wicked Sunday 9
October 3rd.
So I have a plan for us. We're going to march into Recluse's Victory and take down the silly heroes: Ms. Liberty, Back alley Brawler, Synapse, Manticore, Positron, and Penelope Yin. (This is not PvP... we're not going to PvP.)
We'll get the badges for the heroes, the exploration badges, and likely the badge for spending an hour in zone. We're looking at 16 badges total.
You gotta be of Villain or Rogue alignment and level 40+. The closer to 50/Incarnate you are, the better off we'll be. I don't think this whole thing will take much longer than an hour or so. An hour and a half?
I don't want to engage in PvP, so we will stick together like we're glued and if some rando hero wants a go at us, they'll get the whole team on them. If it somehow becomes a super bad nuisance, we can exit and finger something else out. With Indom's population dropping, I don't think there's much in the way of PvP anymore.
The tricky part is getting the right pair to spawn. A while back I did this with another player (@Shocktacular) and we must've taken over and traded the last pillbox to spawn the duo AVs we needed like 18 times. They were pretty tough solo/duo, we used our temps and all that at the time.
Since PvP zones don't allow temps from outside the zone anymore or Incarnates except Alpha, I highly recommend snagging the PvP Fakkolades from the vendor at the entrance. Also recommend buying Ultimate inspiration ahead of time as well.

Found it!
Good source! There was more from @Spiderin the post so I thought I would add it to this one:
QuotePentad Victor
- Win a rated or unrated Pentad or Septad match in the Arena
- Minimum 10 players
- Misc: Custom Pentads negate the need for specific ATs
-
Post event info for future:
- Image below for correct settings.
- The first match was incorrectly set. Original participants had to zone to SG base and then back to Pocket D for invite to go through.
- Badge awarded to entire winning team.
- Also, if Arena window incorrectly shows 6 vrs 4 then you can select "Freeform Teams" to adjust # of red and # of blue (2 teams of 5) and then return setting to "Custom Pentad" before beginning match.
- Coliseum is a nice map for this! No hunting around! Cage would have maybe felt crowded.
- Although it is true that Custom Pentad does not require specific ATs, the arena window will sometimes not allow for some players to be moved between teams once invited (sometimes it did, for one person it would not). Just stick with Custom and run it one more time for anyone stuck on the wrong team too many times.
- For me, the match needed "start" to be clicked twice.
Specific AT's are not required if using the Custom Pentad selection. Custom does sometimes still have buggy issues, but is an easier set up.
QuoteAs for the buggy Swiss Draw:
Updating my original notes. Have run this many times. It isn't really a pita except the wait time. A few extra details:
- This can be a lengthy time commitment. I tell everyone up front. Probably because custom pentads are so fast, some might assume this is as well. It's 3 rounds for only 1 winner. 8 badgers = 24 rounds.
- 8 *bodies* minimum needed. Easily, one can grab spouse / 2nd accounts to fill if needed. If 16 show up, run 2 teams with 2 hosts. If 12 show up, just ask 4 to wait and then excuse the first 4 winners after they badge.
- The host does all the work: sets matches, selects winner in advance, sends reminders, etc. When I had groups in voice, it was super simple. Groups in text were ok, but sometimes it felt like a lot more poking. If running in text, I preferred everyone wait at the battle terminals so I could "see" them as they exit and re-enter rounds.
- Remind everyone to drop toggles, which saves time on matches (except the designated winner).
-
Remind self (host) to use Cage match map. This allows us to immediately see who we are placed inside a round with. If I forget and leave it on random map, they can look at the mini map. Iirc, the hover tells them who their challenge partner is. Or yell in broadcast. Or play hide and seek... haha. no. that is a time waster on 24 rounds.
- Though I use Coliseum map for custom pentads. It's just prettier and larger. The teams go in and immediately see one another.
-
I like to announce the winner in advance of each run (1 run = 3 rounds). It's buggy and time consuming, so it's not a bad idea to keep everyone on the same page.
- Local chat: "Heroid is winner of this run for all 3 rounds. If you are teleported inside and face to face with anyone OTHER THAN him/her, please exit the map. You may click on SCOR to exit. If you are inside the cage match with Heroid, surrender yourself to sweet death. Do NOT kill the badger. Thank you."
- By the 3rd run, I'm just yelling "Fidessa is the winner. Dont kill her. Thanks."
- I'm old fashioned and keep a handwritten list of who already badged. I take 2nd alt badgers last as a courtesy to those who only badge 1 character.
-
Invite the designated winner first! By default, you as the host will be Place # 1. That places the designated winner / first invitee in Place # 2.
- Wait to ensure the designated winner has accepted the invitation and is showing in the arena screen before inviting the others.
- I like to invite someone who also does not yet have the badge as 2nd invitee, Place # 3. This way, if something bugs, at least both potential places needed the badge anyway.
- Yes, exiting early does sometimes change how the 2nd and 3rd rounds work. Sometimes, those advancing find themselves inside the match with no sparring partner. This is fine. The rounds will continue and the designated winner will still badge.
- Following the first and 2nd rounds, at least one person (the designated winner) should see a text announcement. Something like "Round 2 begins in 2 minutes". Sometimes they dont. Iirc, it's 2 minutes. So if no one is whooshed inside in 3 minutes, it's possible the run is completely bugged. This has only happened to us once in many many runs so I don't worry about it. Some designated winners swear they never saw the countdown message and still get whooshed inside the map for the next round.
- What happens when the designated winner is whooshed inside a round with no one to kill? Just wait. Stand there and wait. They'll badge. Though, if they are inside the match with someone in round 2 and 3, I prefer they kill the toggle-less sacrificial lamb.
I like to run Pentad before Swiss Draw.

My understanding of the Bug Hunter badge is that it's rarely given out. And only for a player who finds a "game-breaking" bug. Before the close, I only know of one person who got this badge, and that was Beefcake. I'm sure a few others got it, but I wasn't aware of them, or don't recall them.
My questions are these: does it have to be an exploit? And what does "game-breaking" actually mean? As we all know, almost all of us have seen/experienced various bugs - but whether they were game breaking is up for speculation.
Additionally, this badge is supposedly awarded manually to players who report said bugs, and in the past, were more likely to get the badge awarded if they didn't ask for it, than if they did. But we have new devs now. Do we have anyone who's gotten this yet? Are they allowed to say what for, so we might have an example?Sorry for the necro, I was searching the forums for something else, but I thought I'd share this with you. You can assist in beta testing builds before they go live to gain this badge. Jimmy has made it known that the dev team are willing to give out Bug Hunter to individuals who support testing and feedback of builds. The difference between the live version of the badge and the one given out on Homecoming is that it isn't visible to other players in their Badge list - only to the players viewing their own badge list. You can set it as your title badge though!
Edit: It is also not account wide. It is given to the player via an in-game email. Whoever claims that attachment gets the badge.

There was a poster from a while back, maybe 2019ish who described how to get those tricky two arena badges. Since the arena interface is so buggy, it helped a lot.
-
I used to rely on the 'on paper build' I spent hours creating in MIDs only for it to turn out to be a terrible 'playing build.' I would actually spend all my influence buying the right IOs and sets and then respec and then test it out on the live shards. I've since learned of the cool MIDs export to game tool by xhiggy that takes what you've built in MIDs and export it to the beta so that you can actually test out your build before investing the time and effort in to your live character.
-
I did this mission three times before I got the badge, but it's certainly doable. I haven't experienced that during the runs I did, it was mostly related to not finding them all in time.
-
I'm convinced that there are lots of players who want access to NPC costume pieces. What I'm not convinced of is that there is enough volunteer time and effort available to make it happen, only for that hard work to be accessible only in one way. Like you said though, to create the exclusivity, it would need to be less accessible. I was so excited when I first logged on to Homecoming and every costume piece was already unlocked. That's coming from a player who has slowly collected nearly every badge and finished every story arc red, gold, and blue side. Playing is the reward for me and I'm not convinced that points would make the reward better.

I'll reserve final judgement until the idea is more developed. I'm on the fence at the moment though because of what has been suggested the points could be spent on. As long as anything that is purchased with said points is also available any other way, then that's acceptable to me. If there is anything that's only accessible using this method, that's a no for me.
