  1. Okay since Ill/Storm Controller is now complete (until Utility Belt power pool comes out) its time for my next project. Things I liked on my Troller: Storm Things I didn't like: No Immobilize Very little out of my primary (Phantom Army, proc slotted Blind and everything else is a mule). Of that 700 DPS I suspect that around 600 or so came from Storm. Always felt a little disappointed in the lack of interactivity with Illusion. Minimal CC, invincible but unbuffable pets and fairly lackluster attacks. If I was moving between packs and my PA got left behind (happened often in fast moving groups) then I was basically just using Storm (with no Immobilize) to kill enemies. Imagine having a second powerset that provided a bit more? Could I kill a AV without using my Primary? So I want to make a new character using Storm. First thoughts were Defender or Corrupter. They both have damage sets to go with Storm so more useful right? I didn't choose Defender is because Storm Defenders aren't really any better then Storm taken with other archetypes because they all summon the same pseudo pets so Defender gets very little bonus from having Support as primary (only a small boost to Steamy Mist). Finally both Corrupters and Defenders damage sets are click intensive. There are rotations (bleh) to follow and your nifty Storm powers have to fit in between. So what else has Storm? MMs do! MMs were the reason I started playing CoH way back when as well. Pros of MMs: Primary works somewhat independantly of me. While I do have to keep an eye on them and use bindings, etc they don't take up any of my activation time. They contribute to both tanking and DPS They allow for some good proc slotting opportunities Negs: Fast moving groups can leave them behind (but I am used to that with Phantom Army) Doorways, caves, stairs (thats life) Annoying sound effects (Demons only but Dark Control has the same issue) So since I can deal with the negs which primary? I am a powergamer at heart so I wanted a powerful set. Both good ST and AoE damage, proc options and somewhat self sufficent defensively. To me the only set that fills that is Thugs. Double Enforcer auras are both very good for my pets defensively and don't take up attack time nor have downtime like Bot shields. Good DPS both ST and AoE with a good proc options. Basically the idea is pets are softcapped to all (38.8% all before Mist and Leadership) and do their own thing. I cast FR, Tornado and LS and use Dual Wield to fish for FF +recharge procs. Yes I know the proc chance is low but its something. I have a proc nuke for extra ST damage (my calculations put it around 337 damage on a 10 sec CD). Softcapped S/L/E and a small purple will softcap range. Will be running Ageless Destiny Incarnate (compulsory for high recharge Storm). Pistols is to fill up a ST rotation when I have free activation time. It may seem silly by just by alternating Dual Weild and Pistols you get 40 DPS before -resist. Not too shabby if you think about how many of our pets hover around this amount. Any thoughts? My budget is unlimited.
  2. One question I have is do AoE Holds that 'pulse' like Volcanic Gasses or Shadow Field have a chance to proc every pulse? While it does take time for the 'pulses' to come through it is extra damage potentially. Volcanic Gasses with its 10 second pulses seems a very likely prospect.
  3. Would these numbers be a roughly comparable result to a damage patch with the same radius and cooldown? Or is there some other mechanic at play like very different activation times?
  4. Utility Belt looks so good. Bolas is a 8 sec CD fast activation (1.37) ST Immo that periodically KDs through the duration, it even has -Fly so they can't escape your Tornadoes and FRs. Then Poisoned Dagger that is Spectral Wounds with 1 sec cast time, no heal back, full containment damage and -damage debuff. Really looking forward to Utility belt. Unfortunately Bolas has a custom animation that is half undone and will take a lot of work to finish so its like last on the list. Already have the slotting and build worked out for it. Will be my dream build. A Blind-Dagger-Bolas ST in the same activation time of my Blind-AB rotation now except I will also Immobilize. Psi Tornado-FR-Tornado AoE rotation with LS appearing in longer fights during AoE or ST situations.
  5. Tricky getting enough mag though. Decieve is like a 2 second cast with 1 sec CD (at high recharge levels). With purple sets mine last 78 seconds. To get past 50 mag proc you would need 17 castings and would need to maintain while DPSing. Much easier for Doms under Domination who only need only need like 9 castings. That's really only works on equal level AVs.
  6. Yeah its a pain. I tried Frozen Blast and T4 Spectral Interface and honestly the duration is just too low. With +4 resistance you need multiple procs in like 2 seconds. Just not consistant. It's not just afraid effects sometimes toggle debuffs (like Darkest Night and Snow Storm) can send AVs crazy. Some of the AVs are bigger cowards then others (typically older content) and they are just not worth it. Nos is one of the worst offenders. Should just make all AVs immune to afraid effects because many of the newer ones already are. It's annoying that both the 75 use ST Immo temp power cannot be gotten through Ouro. Or can it? Fettering Nimbus is gotten through Maria's A Heroes Epic Story Arc would doing step 6 again get you another Fettering Nimbus and does it work on everything? Have to test later. Will have to wait till the Utility belt power pool comes out with Bolas. Of course how I am going to fit it into my build I don't know.
  7. I said I would give a video and here it is: Start summoning Phantom Army at 16 seconds, Pylon explodes at 80 seconds for a 64 second kill for 726 DPS. Pity I didn't get my 61 sec recorded. Had a super good run ruined by the damn drop ship killing me out of nowhere as well which wasn't ideal. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1543;742;1484;HEX;| |78DA65944B4F135114C7EFB483A52F1ED2F22EB4142CA5B4B482BAC450D160C034C| |1A558C6526893B643A66D84A50BBF00C6B8D2880FF091B8D1885BBF81123526BA31| |9AB85250DCD733F33FD026BD69F3BBF7CCF99F73EEB977666EED9CE3C5851B93426| |A89E794623119570B254DCDE5D29AE592522A6B4A4ED0705DCEA4BD535AB6B092D6| |BCEAB2379E51D4A2851EF8ABFE87D2C84C2E572E66D5C2A1A1BFC667AABCBC1C992| |FA95A3E395FCEE7D50285148E844AB279554BA5B575BBB1389FCBAE644A363C584D| |A7979C30EB5692B8A657B3A94842CF924D25E7946289949D544F88FEF725C1A3D22| |0664C42C46461CA4BA042F4C8A271DA6CAC1B47C1D1A04EAB58AC6A4DE23A69DB64| |21AF83C13570937C248E2F5D41FC638BCC24685B009BAEF25A01378684304BD09A3| |7859153BE0B3AEE31B9A626CEDB79135A2B35BC015AD1E0960CDF5B14CF825A24CB| |17F8757F0553E462E55CD626ECBFBD19ECB3815E3BE873804127384041ED9CCB1E4| |25DB7299713B9CCCEEFE857DF0F70F0276A0EEFC8069748DB0C5FB9F90CEA6939CD| |3C653234DDE3A077027C4C9A56EE6BEB1E7C8FFF651E80AE3FCCB3D0B4C7F97CA9D| |E3668455B85863093C5CD3B709F447532D93A60933AB8837D2E708BD0C5D9BB9EC3| |BFF719731BF43D0507B7C0C013F021697B387B8F1B1D7CA05F34EE96E783C9B875A| |39F999FC0F047709B7CFB3977FF3E76E4E59DFBFE817EDEF92077E204776885B403| |AC1DF8867AFC07E8CEC824E87F8B9B14F0E07446F84665483BC4DAA118C78D32C3D| |006225807C74C55AD4B16EF28D530DFBC61BE2161DEFB7B7A16E2DE87F4867BAC62| |976C11CE1579290CBFB157CC3760EC357387C9753EA210518E17E573EB958FDE54F| |AE927AE6F0E2F66A53252F7345A6789D559C6EB2C137596D95A4B187526E4A32F82| |9042B0595BE84D87ADB260D3BB84B95233BF5633FF457389F728F91163AF6A93241| |F450BD0D7E0A264F077ADFF30FCF76BFDEFA077631B38C7444DAE597A55623C37C6| |7FC176FEB8| |-------------------------------------------------------------------| Running Degen T4, Ageless T4, Assault T4.
  8. Pylons give automatic Containment damage. Just did two runs (tweak to build for more DPS): got a 1.01 (after a 1.24 horror run previously). I know its accurate because I didn't bother to resummon PA and killed Pylon before they disappeared. Time for a video I guess.
  9. You only really noticing it at low levels were you only have a few (often single target) attacks. At 50+3 I am spamming 16 target AoE nonstop I have no idea how many of those, DoTs, procs, ticks miss/hit.
  10. The way it works is it drops a total of 6 damage patches (1 initial and then 1 every 5 seconds later) at the targets feet. Each patch last 5 seconds and has 10 damage ticks thats can hit up to 5 targets. The damage ticks are all different numbers between 3-6 (its really strange). I totalled it all up to be around 276 damage or so. It has a high chance to proc on initial hit (seems related to its 90 second CD) and can proc on later damage patch drops though the chance is much lower (but still seems around 30% or so).
  11. It hurts the the target if cast on an enemy.
  12. What I mean by that is once a power which summons a pseudo pet is activated any recharge you have no longer affects that pseudo pet. It has its own cast rates proc chances, etc. The same why any recharge you have slotted does not effect MM pets once they are summoned.
  13. Click the team button above your chat box and there will be a pet button at the top. That wll open the pet window. In the options there is also a pet window option somewhere.
  14. Honestly it like a Bonfire but in a much smaller area and no inbuilt KB. Its fine for Storm because enemies are running anyway (so why not set them on fire as well) but if you have a Immo of some kind it will do its best work. Obviously talking about solo. In groups its just plain good. One nice side benefit is if you exempt down (say to do the Posi 2 for WST) you actually have another good damaging ST target. Low levels on Controllers can feel very weak.
  15. Also as times go down I think HP regen tick for the pylon has a bigger and bigger effect. A tick comes every 15 seconds and for a 30k HP pylon each healing tick is like 1.5k HP. I was stuck in a bit of rut at around the 1.10 mark because every time I got close to a kill the tick would happen and add a few seconds on and the kill times wouldn't change. But once I got enough DPS to beat the tick suddenly I gained several seconds. There are definate breakpoints on the pylons.
  16. I think the more proc heavy you go the more your results can vary. Especially as you get to lower times. The difference between in a low proc rate versus a high proc rate in 1-2 min time region is massive.

  18. What kills it is you the DPA of Poisonous Ray. While I does give a -res debuff (which is reduced by 50%) it does not do much else beside it. So it costs you the ability to cast something else and is only support itself. It's the same reason why I don't use Psionic Tornado on ST. The pets just die too much on Pylon unfortunately. Rotation is FR, Tornado, Enflame, LS with Blind and AB to fill in the gaps. If I feel i can squeeze in an extra Blind or AB (even if it costs me 1/2 second delay) I do it. At this point it a bit luck based. Just did 2 more tests: 74 on the first. 65 on the second. What was the difference? Managed to get a few lucky procs and killed it before the Pylon had a 'regen tick' at about 67-68. The first I got a little unlucky. But ill take the 65 seconds for 717 DPS even if it was a lucky run. So how much do you 'fish' for the perfect runs? The perfect run would be with lucky proc chance, ignore the resummoning of PA at 60 seconds (saving 3 seconds of casting) and just eat the hits and burn it down. Risking your life for pylon glory.
  19. Damn you! Where am I going to find slots for this!?
  20. When you say 1 to 2 more procs is that with several procs in the power or just 1? I am thinking of it as a continual -res applier so I am looking at single proc uptime.
  21. Enflame is one of the most unusual powers in the game. 90 secon CD with a 5 second duration for each 'Flame pet' It summons 6 flame pets over the course of its duration. Each 'Flame pet' drops a damage pets every 0.5 seconds and over 5 seconds drops 5 patches. The total base damage of each Pet is around 46 damage on up to 5 targets. 276 base damage over the course of the ability. Since they are pseudo pets charge should not affect there proc rates. Target AoE IO set access. Seems to have decent proc rates, might be a good -res Devestation applier. Hmmm some testing required.
  22. From my hazy memory the best set from proc while having good damage themselves was Thug. Bruiser can use both KB Smashing and Chance for Build Up. Enforcers can do both -Heel Proc and Lady Grey (though free slots may be an issue). The T1 pets can get some benefit from KB Smashing but the Arsonist does his own thing so you can't help him. Possibly put the Chance of Build up here because all 3 pets benefit (Arsonist is good AoE too) and slots might be tight for Bruiser. You have Gang War to take all the defence procs.
  23. I start with him but after he dies I don't bother. I find in harder content I just don't bother. He has no real resistances or defences and just dies way too easily. It's why not having the smashing damage proc in it is no real big deal.
  24. There is a discussion on the proc rates of pseudo pets like Tornado on the Troller forum. It varies on a cast by case basis but Tornado might actually have quite a good proc rate. Something like 50% with 3 proc attempts per Tornado (Initial then 10 sec and 20 sec). But lets take your numbers and work with them. I can keep 2 Tornado up at a time with my recharge. So that 1.8 is now 3.6 which also has a massive DPA itself and only needs 1.3 activation time every 15 leaving plenty of time to use other powers. You used 10 castings of Aqua Bolt for less damage and Heel procs then my 4 castings on Tornado. Who is the real winner here? I used to like Explosive Strike in Phantom but his AI is bugged (has melee preferred preset) at the moment and he loves charging into melee and almost always dies in fairly short order. He is a bit of a liability at the moment honestly. Thugs has easy slotting: Almost all of the Enforcers attack do -def and there are 2 of them. Brute loves KB and Chance for Build ain't bad on him either.
  25. But each power only has 6 slots. Yes slots are limited but you can only gain so much power out of self activated powers because you can only use one power at a time. For all their impefections pets allow you to get more done per second. This is especially true now that more attacks are becoming available to MM. A MM with Heat Mastery has got access to some very good proc enablers which they have plenty of free time to use.
