Respecs for Incarnate Abilities / Powers
arcane replied to Squid Vicious's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
@Projector go ahead and answer this new part if you feel like it. Need to know if you can acknowledge that time sinks are not 100% inherently evil all the time. I’m fine with agreeing to disagree on the nuances and details from there. -
Respecs for Incarnate Abilities / Powers

I think we could all come up with analogies in which the waste of time would really sting and other analogies in which the “waste” of time would be an entirely justified time sink, so I don’t find that argument compelling at all. For instance, if I asked for a button that grants me all badges in the game with one click, you’d be completely stupid to grant that over time concerns, and Voltor would rightfully lose his shit. If it is so wrong to argue that maybe you shouldn’t get new Incarnate powers for free, I need to know why you don’t think the same about levels, IO’s, accolades, badges, temporary powers, prismatic aether costumes, etc. If my logic is so flawed, those all need to be free with zero time investment too, no? Is it possible that this, oh I don’t know, isn’t as black and white as you all make it? Is it possible that acting like video games haven’t had costs associated with rewards since the beginning of time whilst mocking me as some ignorant horse-drawn carriage driver with his panties in a bunch… isn’t the best way to win people over? As a side note, I just love my anonymity between forum and game. As the most hated poster here by a large margin, I just always find it a little whimsical that I get on discord and play with some of the very people that trash me. What a world. -

battlewraith in this thread - it’s not a problem if this change renders the hard work of many players to be a complete waste of time also battlewraith in this thread - you think it’s okay to just waste people’s time? 🤦♂️ -

As with all your wonderful ideas, we will know how wonderful they are when the developers decide to implement them. Until then, try to contain your impulses to lash out at disagreement. Peace. -

I’d have to think about the exact numbers in my head but a conversion of this kind sounds fair too. -
Respecs for Incarnate Abilities / Powers

Okay. I’ll take your small amount of stuff then, thanks. It has no value to you. Obviously there are more kinds of value than monetary value or you would have no reason to beg for free stuff. Also, my total “loose change” across my whole account totals 30M at this point. What if we didn’t make stupid assumptions just to construct a strawman we can argue against. -

Can I have your stuff since you’re taking the laughable disingenuous position that time investment should have zero value? -

@golstat2003 Doing this any time at zero cost would absolutely be a non-starter. That would mean there will never again be a point to having more than 6 T4 Incarnate powers, and would thus retroactively render so many hundreds or thousands of gameplay hours a complete waste of time. If veteran players aren’t somehow reimbursed that would be a pretty major middle finger. Imagine being one of those players that worked hard to unlock every T4. Their efforts would mean zero with your suggestion. Several steps too far. My proposed boundaries under which I wouldn’t see this change as a step too far: Minimum frequency - once per character Maximum frequency - once per year per character Minimum cost - 100 million influence Maximum cost - 500 million influence -

Same. I’ve been doing a ton of work lately replacing old incarnate choices. And I’m not even one of the people that has all Incarnate T4’s unlocked on their main. It’s an awful lot to ask for for free. If it were heavily restricted, I might be okay with it. Once per toon, cost equivalent to hundreds of millions, that kind of thing. -
Allow Masterminds to choose their weapons

Between the late hour and the little purple R avatar, I initially read this as a Rudra post. And, of course, reading these words as if they were typed by Rudra made me assume that Rudra had gone mad. -
Pyronic is by far the meta choice for everyone I play with. Best base damage, fast activation means using it doesn’t lower your single target DPS against hard targets, and far fewer chances to aggro additional unwanted mobs. Ion is only the meta for farms or other trash mob activities like radios or Unai. Once you play content where ST DPS matters and where you don’t necessarily want to aggro whole rooms, Pyronic passes Ion with ease.

no it isn’t

Allow Masterminds to choose their weapons

I’m a big advocate for “you want the unique look of a certain set, you play that set.” -
Nowadays I always put multiple slots in SS/SJ, but if I were to 1-slot those powers it would definitely be with D-Sync Accelerations.
-
I like that they have different values, unlike everything else in the game where the price ranges were flattened by converters.
-
I don’t mess around with characters that do stuff slowly. All of my active blasters in my spreadsheet have all of the following characteristics (well okay I see one exception): - Max proc damage and proc rates in single targets attacks - Sets with +recharge in AoE’s - Hasten/SS/Burnout - CJ/SJ - TP/Combat TP/Fold Space - Stealth/Mule/Phase Shift - Char/Melt Armor - No resistance - No defense (besides CJ/Stealth) My /nin blaster only slightly deviated from this format with a different epic because Choking Powder is already Char but better.

Seeing Alt Combat and Trained lvl on character select screen.

Not possible right now. It would be nice if a dev would let us know if oft-requested login screen changes are even in the pipeline for the next five years or if such changes are just plain impossible. This comes up a lot.- 1 reply

Not that it’s appropriate for either set (Rad Armor already OP, why would Regen do damage?) - but it seemed pretty clear to me that he meant something like what was added to Brimstone Armor or what we already had with Toxins or Assault Radial or Envenomed Blades.
-
To be fair a lot of powers in the game seem to have misleading text in terms of distinguishing knockback from knockdown. If you haven’t tested the power personally, look at the data and see if the knock mag is 0.67 (knockdown) or higher (knockback).
-
That power doesn’t even do knockback in the first place per a quick glance at CoD so that might be why you’re finding it underwhelming… I’m sure you’ll find the enhancement does something substantial if actually slotted in a power otherwise known for scattering. As the only decent S/T attack in the set, I’m sure the optimal slotting involves 3-5 damage procs.
-
The bolded part is objectively not happening in reality though. Resistance debuffs are known to be very potent and are as meta/fotm as it gets. I guess I’m open to being wrong. Anyone got a video of a 4 star run with no infrigidates/sleets/heat losses/corrosive enzymes/melt armors/repulsion bolts/force bombs/debuff procs/etc? Of course I highly doubt such evidence even exists since resistance debuffs have been known to be gamechangers forever… This seems to be an instance of people interpreting design formulas but having no knowledge of how those abilities actually turn out in the in-game experience.
-
Debuffs are objectively in a good place. OP is simply mistaken.
-
Any justification for this idea or do you just want to require the average player to do a few dozen respecs for no reason?
-
If a chat bubble showed up for every player serverwide each time I had a comment to make in general chat, I would hope I would have the decency to just not talk in general chat. Oh well.

I asked the question because you proposed stripping the damage from a power that is 99% used for damage. Sure some people mention the heal without realizing it’s way too tiny to be effective for anything. So basically you’re advocating that the power should do nothing.
