Again Bill, nobody is saying Regen stands up well next to meta sets like Bio, Shield, EA, SR, Rad, etc. Well someone might be saying that but he’s wrong. What *I* am saying is that, with modest inspiration usage, the job. Gets. Done. (With ease). That’s all 🙂 And saying “well some sets don’t need inspirations” is irrelevant to me because I have zero problems with using inspirations and consider them an integral part of the game - and so my response to that is a resounding “k?”. We’ll agree to disagree here because you have a severe inspiration allergy. Ok, fine. I don’t feel the need to play set comparisons unless a set truly makes the game a slog. Sonic Blast or Kinetic Melee are a slog. I have never found Regen to play like a slog, since the only way an armor set truly fails is death - which will only happen in coincidence with severe inspiration allergies - aka not for me. But yes, obviously, let’s hurry up and add some of these debuff resistances and other modest buffs and such to Regen. I am all in favor of that. But I shouldn’t have to join the chorus of “lol regen sux” to advocate for minor common sense buffs.

If the logic in this thread is of any value, we have a lot of reordering to do since apparently the best powers need to be accessed earliest in the design visions of a few here. Any form of delayed gratification is oppressive bullying, or something like that. EM needs ET at 1. Kin needs SB and FS by 2. All T9’s must be the set’s most suboptimal power. Let’s do it 🙄

Sigh, I was going to go with “save Sorcery builds for Controllers” but there was still so much pet downtime on my pylon tests, and I want to see that potential pet DPS. If pets were actually alive I’m sure I’d cross over into 500+ DPS. Looks like I have another respec to go before settling down. To find any more slots, I may have to do some wild stuff. Am I a kook for thinking about 1-slotting or even ditching Dark Grasp?

Unfortunately I haven’t tested for this. I know the extra recharge wasn’t necessary in this instance to maintain the attack chain, and the +15% damage couldn’t be adding more than, say, 15 DPS (thinking about base DPA before enhancement). What I don’t know is the effect of shaving that extra few seconds recharge off Sleet, Gather Shadows, and pets..

A few tests in, and, so far, the Dark/ does NOT contribute much DPS against a pylon because the pets die way too quickly. I tried to use Shadow Field to give the pets some extra protection but I'm still only getting one miss at a time, not consecutively - and each pet can only take two hits apparently. Now, if you had Spirit Ward, or were a Controller, I can see these pets doing a lot.

Fun fact: explaining what I mean by “*MODEST* inspiration usage” and then having someone else on the forum accurately represent my claim…. Has never happened before in history. While you’re musing about what’s helpful and what’s not… put hyperbole down in general. There is a world of difference between popping one purple or one green in a tough spot every few minutes in a completely sustainable and reliable way, …. and spamming multiple inspirations so much so that you have to purchase inspirations or email chain them. Anti-inspers that won’t acknowledge the difference won’t make any progress with me. Also keep in mind there are regen buffs that have been proposed that I have consistently advocated for and have zero problem with. Debuff resistances at the top of the list.

My Dark/Dark Dominator, aka “Hommage à Voltak”, is amongst the shortlist of recently updated/respeced characters that is almost ready to take the pylon test. I haven’t done this trapdoor mission thing since live. Not up to speed on that. But my pylon times are getting better 🙂

Nobody has to suffer in this game. It’s consistently easy if you but use the resources available. Some of us just don’t want the experience cheapened even further than it already is.

Except nobody is doing that and he’s not the only one that can’t find a shred of consistency in battlewraith’s arguments. (I had to google the definition of brow beating to be sure, but yep no sign of that)

The “criticism” I am not addressing does not deserve to be addressed imo because it literally reads “agree with me at every turn or stfu” (and then ironically calling *others* gatekeepers?? English pls). Bit of a non-starter. Engaging with such a thing is not fruitful. If people are not posting out of fear of criticism, that’s called a them problem. People don’t owe you their perfect agreement.

They should logically just lock every thread in this subforum were that actually the intention of the subforum. Ofc it’s not and people are just trying to silence disagreement but speaking hypothetically here.

Probably because this is an open forum and that’s how life works in such places. I suggest rethinking the extreme fragility with which you approach this subforum as human behavior isn’t going to change to accommodate you any time soon.

Imagine calling others gatekeepers while literally being the only ones vocally opposed to an open discussion of their ideas. Cmon guys not this again. If you’re truly anti-disagreement, you can refrain from replying, but constantly telling people to agree or shut up is a ridiculous look.

No one’s missing that - rather it simply doesn’t matter to me if Regen comes in dead last (not seeing evidence if that but let’s assume it’s true). What matters to me is if it’s viable - which it is with extremely modest inspiration usage. And by modest inspiration usage, I mean a level of usage that is reliable and should never require any inspiration planning or purchasing. Comparing to other sets is extremely limiting thinking when all that really matters is can the character do the job within reason, which it undoubtedly can. Who cares if most other sets are better - we all have dozens of meta builds already, and we’ve arrived at regen for the sake of variety. There’s already enough top tier sets for the meta-builds-only powergamer to enjoy for a lifetime. Now, I would like to see some more focused survivability testing (insps must be involved for the testing to mean anything to me) with things like Electric Armor and Fiery Aura. Because I’d actually like to see it proven that Regen is dead last. Unfortunately citing Bio, Rad, SR, EA, etc over and over doesn’t prove anything on its own.

Notices aren’t in the same category as merits, they’re in the same category as components, none of which can be traded. Can convert to threads then to Ultimate inspirations and sell though if you want.

Same on that, I don’t have much in savings but it’d be nice to be able to scan everyone quickly for pennies. Never more than 2 billion tops in cash on hand when you’re slotting or respecing a couple new builds a week. My builds never cost me less than a billion tho 🧐

I’d be more inclined to concentrate my wealth more perfectly if I knew where the rest of it was without logging in to all my characters. I do transfer inf to my main most of the time but it’s not practical to transfer all merits every time you play because of the way they are a designed to be a pain to transfer unless you have exactly 50 of something. And all of this still leaves vet levels on the table. Do you email every single merit you have every time you switch, or are you telling me your assets are poorly consolidated? 😉

Do you find it “easy” (as in not burdensome) to log in to 100+ alts in a day just because you’re scrounging for some cash or a transcendent merit? Say no to a QoL improvement, but acting like maintaining a very detailed spreadsheet every single day is every bit as good as an alternative strikes me as a little ridiculous. I will live without this change but I sure as hell will not track every 1 influence, every merit, and every vet level manually. I often switch characters every 25 minutes or so nearly every night. Do you think I want this to be a fulltime bookkeeping job, or a game?
