Defenders don’t need +30% damage to solo effectively. Maybe to solo quickly and competitively at +4x8, but no honest person believes Cryptic/Paragon meant those maxed out settings are arbitrary standards when they said you shouldn’t have to team.

We have so many slots that it’s an all-you-can eat buffet. People leaving any powersets on the table at all for a reason other than time are choosy little grumps.

Yes it does. I switch to just hanging out in Hover/Evasive Maneuvers instead of having all 3 on if I ever wanna just sit there and look at my costume.

All I’m pointing out is that, if you think the devs will want to make farming easier in such a way *that does nothing but make farming easier* and thus with *the only purpose of making farming easier*… you haven’t been observing the devs of live or HC since 2004. I could care less if they make farming easier. But it’s silly at this point to dream that that’s a dev goal.

I for one am plenty open minded, but like to pay attention to historical facts. ”Let’s implement this change that does literally nothing but make farming easier because we strongly feel that farming needs to be easier” is about as consistent with anything any CoH dev has ever said as “We will relentlessly buff regen every patch.”

Which quietly functions as an arbitrary Tanker proc rate buff, it’s pretty nuts.

The higher range on Frost actually gives it the vibe of a 135 degree cone to me. 45 = get outta here 😉

Honestly this kind of thread just comes from people overconsuming forum koolaid tbh. People actually argue that proc monster Defenders keep up with Blasters. Maybe closer than should be allowed, but still, complete hyperbole, people. Both Defenders and Corruptors are in an excellent place compared to half the other AT’s. Support is in a great place.

Freezing Touch is obviously the actual defining power since it’s like the best DPA melee attack in the game or something (post-EF ET excluded). There’s a reason it has top tier single target DPS potential even though every other single target attack in the set is average to bad. As for Frost, there’s no way in hell it’s hitting with a smaller cone than than 90. Definitely perception bias or picking bad targets. One of the easiest melee cones to feel effective with after Arc of Destruction, Crowd Control, etc.

The only way this game could successfully avoid all sensitive subjects is for all attack powers to be taken away and missions to be changed to things like "Help Lord Recluse organize the breast cancer awareness fun run"

I farm, and your idea may sound cool, but, just thinking about the various devs the game has had since 2004, I don't think the general point of most changes has been to make farming easier just to make farming easier.

Sorry, I don't see the sense in this. You want debuff-focused-primary defenders to do less debuffs AND less damage? And the "proc opportunity" thing is extremely misleading. There is zero difference in proc rates. The only reason people argue defenders are slightly better with procs is because they can afford to invest more enhancement slots in offense (for example, my Time/ Defender doesn't have Fighting, my /Time Corruptor does, for the same defense). But that's only applicable if you're making very specific build choices. There is zero difference in "proc opportunity" otherwise, and Corruptors even get an extra damage proc that Defenders don't get.... [EDIT: Ok there is actually also the part where procs do same amount of damage no matter what AT so Defender's stand to benefit more from slotting procs vs slotting damage than Corruptor's do. But still. Completely negligible point.] You seem like a reasonable poster so may I suggest you sleep on this one. It's a 110% backwards idea. Hard no.

Meh, I defended the set but more because I don’t get upset over slotting Sudden Accelerations. Probably because on live I had to do high maintenance stuff to make Tornado etc awesome so I realize how blessed we are to have those procs at all. Not to mention what it does to Bonfire. You *can* play your way and master the knockback, but I’ve become too lazy over the years for that. I don’t totally blame people for not wanting to bother with constant attention to positioning. I do however think they’re acting like complete weenies when they act like slotting 2-4 Sudden Accelerations makes an otherwise cool/awesome set completely intolerable 🙂

You’re not going to get any argument from me on their single target capabilities. Each has only one attack that can ever possibly hit like a truck, and that’s if and only if you slot them as proc bombs with Hecatomb, Unbreakable Constraint, and more. And even then the most impressive hit - Incandescent Strike - is an infamous corpseblaster the devs won’t even give the Total Focus animation buff. Only hope left is I need to try to revise my build and see how high I can get my Radiant Strike average damage with optimal proc slotting. Which was hard to do initially because Kheldians can’t just skip recharge bonuses.
