Prohibit Power Pool Pre-requisites Please.
Rudra replied to Aracknight's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If at first you don't succeed, ask, ask again? And the thread's title implies that you want all the pool powers including the ones that currently require you to have 2 other powers from the pool to not have prerequisites. I don't know how many times the same argument can be had on this. To be clear, I am against comparing non-travel pools to travel pools. That is akin to comparing them to Patron power pools in my book. I am against power creep, which at least the author had the integrity to admit this is rather than claim "quality of life" like every other person that asks this. I'm against this proposal. For reasons already given on every other thread that asked for this. -

Forcefield feedback on the changes and request/suggestion
Rudra replied to Zappalina's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm confused. I checked Cox Masterminds, Defenders, Corruptors, and Controllers for Force Bubble and didn't see it. So I checked City of Data for Force Bubble, and it only turns up as a Midnight Masters assist power. I don't play Force Field characters, so please enlighten me. What is Force Bubble? The OP references Dispersion Bubble which according to City of Data provides increased defense for the team and mez protection. No reference to KB or repel. Then the OP switches from Dispersion Bubble to Force Bubble which does not seem to be a player available power. Since I refuse to use Force Field, I have no stake in this discussion. However, it would be nice to at least be able to follow along. -
I'm not psychic and it is your idea. If you can't explain it, then why should I bother trying to understand it?

Didn't take your statement as I should delete my level 4s. Was just saying I already have my base builder characters and they are already level 4. Making a level 1 PB base builder is not needed and I am not inclined to have a Kheldian character.

Pretty sure the stance is not that players will make instant-50s for the sake of name squatting. My understanding is that the stance is that the unnamed player will make instant-50s, get bored with the character for lack of investment, and then just leave the character abandoned and forgotten. Result is still that the name is no longer available and it bypasses the whole point of the name reclamation system that has been implemented in the game but is currently locked in Warning Only state so players have time to get used to it.

Back on Live. Not long after they were released. When each and every time I tried a PB, my first mission always had a +1 Void lieutenant that 1 or 2-hits my character into oblivion. And if I use every inspiration slot my starting character has available to defend against the Void or try to out-damage the Void, the result was laughably pathetic. And I wasn't a fan of the WSs with their teleports. I'm glad players enjoy their Kheldians. I'm glad there are people that swear by them and run them through everything. I HATE Kheldians.

I find that at low levels, having a strong attack chain or defense is significantly less of a concern than others say. I'm personally glad I can slot a travel power at level 4. I still remember the days of using Hover to cross Perez Park, Steel Canyon, and Skyway City. Contact is at the complete opposite end of the zone from the mission which is deep in purple country? And my only options are Sprint or Hover? No thanks.
-
Why? I already have my level 4 ones. Why should I turn around and make level 1 ones too? Also, while I acknowledge I won't be seeing any Voids or Quantums attacking my Kheldian base builder if I make one, I hate Kheldians. Regardless of whether or not I will run the character through any content, my attempts at playing them has me sufficiently hateful of them that I simply do not want to bother having any Kheldian characters.

What is a higher level event?

Neither the Brickstown Zig Prisoner Escape nor the King's Row Monster Construction requires a league to clear. Neither even really needs a team to clear depending on the character. Demon Rampage: Demons aren't part of the struggle in Croatoa. And Croatoa already has its event. The war between the Tuatha and the Firbolg. Jack in Irons and Eochai spawn and lumber north to smash each other. Players need to clear the fighting factions at the war site and then deal with Jack and Eochai. Also, I am still as opposed to your Arcane Blast as before. Trying to slip it in under a new post does not change my mind. For the same reasons discussed on the previous thread about it.

Don't think it counts as a theme or anything. They're my base builder characters. At level 4 I can pick up Hover which lets me maneuver around a base and place/orient objects whereever needed. So no need to level them any higher. Edit: And since I only use those characters for building bases, either my own or someone else's if they ask for help, they're pretty well stuck at level 4.

Universal power FX options: NoFX and DataFX
Rudra replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
According to the linked thread, the linked instructions also take away the attack visual fx. Though that works for the OP's no fx anywhere request, it fails for those that simply want the fx to not distort, hide, or alter their hard-made character costumes. -
Once a year? I have characters locked at level 4. That's a once a month bit. At least it isn't once a week though....

You could just sell them and buy the (possibly cheaper) non-catalyzed versions....

Make Dominators worth playing before Perma Dom.

Got it. Sorry and thanks. -
Make Dominators worth playing before Perma Dom.
Rudra replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Okay, that still does not make sense to me. Why would the powers dev need to discover perma-dom? Wouldn't that dev already be aware that it could be made permanent? Edit: Unless it was coded in after, in which case it was not discovered, it was implemented. -

Rudra replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If the powers dev that came up with the current iteration did not know what was the best thing about the power, leading to the discovery of perma-dom, then wouldn't that mean that perma-dom was not an intentional element but something players figured out? Edit: Otherwise, why didn't the dev just say "Perma-Dom" was the best part? Or that (s)he added perma-dom to be it? -

I'm inclined to disagree. For a while there, the perma-domination Dominators were the exception. Then that awareness was shared with other Doms as "the way to play". It's like perma-Hasten. You don't need it. There are those that swear you do though. To the point of I no longer know of anyone that actually takes Hasten and does not have it perma. (Edit: Also resulting in players like me that adamantly refuse to take Hasten because of that same reason.) I'm inclined to agree with @TheZag. It's a perception thing. I've tried several Doms. I've deleted almost all of them. I readily admit Doms are not an AT I am even close to effective with. Mostly because of things like boss fights, especially EB fights, where I would need my domination bar to actually mez the target, only for it to wear off mid-fight leaving the boss/EB effectively immune to my mezzes and me unable to fend off his attacks. Then I watched a friend in those exact same fights, using either a Controller or Dominator depending on what that particular friend felt like using, just stomp that same boss/EB into the ground. Without perma-dom. (Edit: I should note this was back on Live.) (And I can say it was not a 2-Dom victory or a Controller+Dom victory, because each and every time my character was too busy eating floor to do anything.) Then again, they had their set IOs already fully slotted. -
Thanks, both of you.

Okay, I'm at a loss. What is going on here? Did AE farming get ganked? Did it not get ganked? Can the people who want instant 50s still crank out 50s at plaid speed?
-
I've seen a few comments on the forums that AE farming has been ganked. Not sure how that affects farming the dimensional ruptures mission others use, but if it is true that farming has been handicapped, that undercuts a large part of my argument against the OP. Why should anyone need an instant-50 when they boast about how quickly they can crank out a brand new 50 from character creation already? If that was taken away from them though? I am still against instant 50 characters. However, there is something to be said about letting people play the way they want. I just don't know what the answer to that is or should be.

Make Dominators worth playing before Perma Dom.
Rudra replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Some factions get increased mez protection. Like Arachnos (bosses) and Lost I think. Been a while since I played my elec/earth dom, so not sure which factions. I do know that some are more resistant to mezzes though. -

Increasing damage is not the answer to everything.
