Okay, I guess. Personally, I think that should remain the purview of story contacts, but I'm not going to argue against either. (Edit: Though I would be in favor of adding a repeatable missions contact to the Shadow Shard instead, which would be easier to explain. Or refer players to the repeatable missions in Dark Astoria that so far I have never seen a cave map for. However, if the devs decide there should be a repeatable missions contact for dimensions that have been declared off-limits except for emergency situations like Council Empire Earth and Werewolf Earth, or under pseudo-ban like Warrior Earth, that is up to them.)

Except that makes no sense. The radios and papers are tracking what is going on in that zone of the city or isles. There is no way for them to be aware of what is going on in other dimensions, let alone provide a means of you getting there.

Goldbrickers don't get holds until level 40, not 30, and don't get blinds. IDF have no blinds. Nemesis have no holds or blinds. I'm sure there are others, but I don't feel like digging through all the available high level factions,

I'm not putting words in your mouth. You posted: "Was the promise". Past tense. "You didn't need to do obsessive grinding." Past tense. "The best MMOs in the market discarded "hAaAaRdCoRe" design mentality, because people no longer have time for "hardcore"." A statement that seems disconnected from the thread unless the intent is to state that CoX has gone "hardcore" and players don't have time for it. To which I asked: Because your comment implies that CoX no longer has the promise of being able to level your way to 50 solo if you wished. It is written right there in your post. If that was not your intent, then you need to clear that up. I am not a mind reader. All I can do is read others' posts and respond to them. Further, CoX has not gone "hardcore". You have to choose to up your difficulty to get to "hardcore". Neither is CoX forcing any trinity gaming either. Players, like me, are solo leveling to 50 and even full incarnate status just fine. Also, nowhere in this thread did I make an argument against the OP. I stated corrections about things posted in this thread I know are wrong are not correct. I stated a summary of what those saying the Council changes are bad seem to want: an enemy faction they can steamroll safely without effort. I even went so far as to test some of your claims to see what was going on, and then I reported the results of that test: The level 54 Galaxy Archon died as quickly as any other level 54 boss my SS/Willpower Brute has fought and only dropped my health by half. So please, show me where I made any bad faith arguments. And while we're at it, show us how trinity gaming is being forced on players. Or how the game has gone "hardcore". Or any other claim you have made in this thread so far. Edit: Oh, and by the way? Just to be clear? NOW I am opposed to the OP's claim. (You're not even the OP's author, but your defense of it has convinced me the OP is very much in error.)

So are you saying you can't level to 50 solo?! And without 'obsessive grinding'? Because if that is the case, I'm going to call you a liar.

I'm not a dev, let alone the dev that designed the power. Best guess though? Because it is supposed to be an 'anyone can use this medical power on anyone else without being a healer' power. -
COMPROMISE on the now OP endgame factions
Rudra replied to WhiteNightingale's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't recall incarnate content that has Council in it. If there is, please refresh my memory. (Also, not all incarnate content is +4. Dark Astoria is incarnate content, and it follows your difficulty settings.) (Edit: Same with Number 6. His arc is incarnate content that follows your difficulty settings.) Edit again: A funny thing happened just now in the game. I wanted to test my SS/Willpower Brute against a +4 Galaxy Archon to see how bad fighting them has gotten for SS characters. With the Galaxy Archon at level 54, I trounced him. Like almost completely and overwhelmingly. He didn't even take me that long to defeat. He got my health down to half, but by then he was quite dead. (My Brute is only a 50+2 by the way. I don't even have a T1 in my Destiny slot yet.) So I have to ask, how is your Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker built? There is no way my character can tank incarnate content for others, I'm not built for that, so I'm seeing a disconnect here. More information may help figure out what is going on. -

Aid Other has a range of 25 feet and is set to accept Reduce Interrupt Time, Endurance, Recharge Reduction, and Heal enhancements. That is all you can slot in it to improve it. -
COMPROMISE on the now OP endgame factions
Rudra replied to WhiteNightingale's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm not understanding how the Galaxy bosses are doing OBSCENE amounts of (negative) energy damage to your Tanker since my Elec'/Elec'/Mu Dominator is doing fine eating their attacks. -
I have never encountered a Council mob turning into a higher rank werewolf unless I was playing with bosses turned off and the lieutenant in question that wolfed out was an Archon. (So, a boss. Just downgraded for the difficulty setting. And like I've previously stated, getting boss rank mobs on missions where you have bosses turned off happens with other factions too. Like the Circle of Thorns where the portals in the portal room can sometimes spawn a boss Demon Lord even if bosses are turned off. It seems that any bosses that are not initially part of the mission map [final room enemy, ambush, normal mid-mission triggered spawn, or other], but are instead spawned by something after the mission/map is generated, ignores the boss settings.) (Edit: I don't remember the group level ranges, but I do remember Nacht and Raserei forces always had a chance to wolf out. Also, the Eclipse Vampyri Archon (or was it Dark Vampyri Archon? I can't remember what the first word in their name was) would turn into a War Wolf when near death as well. And you could always find yourself fighting those from level 45 on.)

And yet players that suck at PvP like me get PvP badges. All it takes is someone willing to work with you or an alt account. So yes, anyone can get the PvP badges. Not all of them, but the ones that can't I've heard are broken and even PvP'ers have difficulty getting them even when they meet the victory conditions to. (The Swiss Draw one I believe has that issue.) So again, with sufficient effort, even someone that sucks at PvP can get PvP badges. The difference, is, and I'm against participation trophies too, is that participation trophies are being handed out for competitions and the OP is requesting a "I done good!" reward for doing stuff alone. Where the TF/SF already has its rewards and the solo player that is clearing it is already getting the TF's/SF's rewards without having to gather a team to do so. So at least to me, the OP is all about being able to boast, and it was that being able to boast back on Live before the Master of badges were finally figured out enough that it didn't take specific character and team builds to accomplish them that enabled players to belittle team members that lacked those badges. (I was even kicked off a non-Master run LRSF because I lacked the badge, the rest of the team had it, and so felt I was going to get in their way. Again, on a non-Master run. Just a regular SF run. So the last thing I want to ever rear its ugly head in this game again is an opportunity for people to go around comparing e-peen sizes and mocking others for it.)

costume suggestion Moth Parts for the Costume Creator
Rudra replied to RiktiHater's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This discussion is on track. How your requested costume options are included is very much part of requesting them. And it would still be simpler to just have a 3D model that gets attached to the character than trying to apply a 2D image in a 3D game. (Edit: At least in regards to adding moth antennae to our characters.)- 18 replies

What do you suggest be done? ... I said what I suggest be done in my post. Spear Thrust becomes a melee attack, not a ranged attack. Both Sweeping Arc and Cyclone of Blades become cones, not PBAoEs. And you either reduce the number of secondary effects in each power or be content with the set not hitting as hard as any other set in the game. (Edit: Oh yeah, and Impaling Strike and Sweeping Arc trade places.)

A player's notoriety is applied to the map. The entire map. That works just fine when it is their mission, but how is that supposed to be applied to a zone? Whose notoriety will be used to set what can and cannot appear on the zone map? If I'm wrong and the devs can do this? Great. However, I'm more than willing to bet this can't be done. So the notoriety option is out. And the invasion option will prevent players from being able to fight the EBs alone. There are players that choose to face AVs and GMs alone, and you are asking to take away their option to fight what they want so that you won't have to use the already ample available options to deal with the EBs. You have yet to give a reason why you can't ToT near drones or Hero/AV contacts that will deal with the EBs for you if you get anywhere near them. You have yet to give a reason why you are unable to use a Breakfree and escape. If an EB mezzes you? It still has to attack you to kill you, and the game code prevents it from doing so in 1 hit unless your character is already injured. So the EB mezzes you, you pop the Breakfree and possibly eat a hit, and then you run like mad and get away. Why is that not an option for you? Breakfrees are a whopping 50 inf' from the nurses at the hospital or most vendors. You have yet to give a reason why you are unable to ToT near someone else that can fight those EBs for you. You have yet to explain why any of the available options of dealing with the EBs are not viable for you. Instead, you insist on an option that I'm pretty sure can't be implemented or on taking away the option other players utilize to fight the EBs alone. Why is your difficulty at dealing with the EBs more important than their freedom to fight those EBs, especially in light of the options already available to you for when the EBs show up? So that's it then. That explains it.
-
Well, if we're going to call things out, a spear thrust is not a throw. So that T1 should be a melee attack, not a ranged attack. And the description of Cyclone of Blades tells me it should be a cone, not a PBAoE. Same thing with Sweeping Arc, though from the name rather than the description in this case. (Which should not be a level 1 available power anyway.) And like @Xandyr said, there are an awful lot of secondary effects on those powers. So either the damage is going to take a massive hit or the powers are going to suffer equal penalties in other areas.

When there is an invasion, the event spawns enemies near you unless you are under some cover or inside something regardless of whether you want to fight invasion mobs or not. Because the event is constantly spawning enemies on your position, it spawns sufficient enemies to threaten the players in the area. So for a sufficient league, you can get the EBs to spawn. (Edit again: You can't even get bosses to spawn on your position to fight in an invasion unless there are sufficient players there to trigger it.) When ToT'ing, no enemies will ever spawn to attack your character unless you specifically click on a door that does not take you to your mission. So there are more differences between how the invasions and trick or treating work than just what gets you the EBs. And should that prove necessary to implement this last request, taking away the door-to-door trick or treating to simply spawn enemies for the sake of using invasion EB rules takes away the feel of the event being a Halloween event. Especially since the Halloween event also already includes its own invasion. Further, as others have stated in this thread multiple times, there are players that want to fight the EBs and don't want a team making it easier for them to do so. So your proposal will take that away from those players. Meanwhile, you can currently run away from the EBs. If the EBs are attacking you before they finish exiting the building? You are dealing with lag. Either go to a part of the zone farther away from the ToT league so you stop getting hit with the lag or go to another zone like Kallisti Wharf where to the best of my knowledge, there is no ToT league, and ToT there so the enemies give you their normal inactive time to see what they are and run away. Or pack some Breakfrees in case you get held before you can run. Or ToT near someone else that is willing to lend you a hand should an EB appear. Or ToT near some drones, trainers, or TF contacts. (The drones will insta-kill the EBs and the NPCs will fight them if they are normally combat NPCs outside of their contact role.) You have several options for dealing with the EBs without taking away the ability of other players to get to fight them. Edit: And now I'm curious. What do you do when you encounter EBs in your solo missions? Even turning off EBs, you can still encounter them as downgraded AVs. (AVs never downgrade to bosses, even if you have bosses, EBs, and AVs all turned off. Just like how EBs never downgrade to lieutenants.) So when you are solo and run into an EB in your mission, what do you do?

The boots and the bottoms are in the costume creator. You won't get the kaleidoscope of colors the Ring Mistresses have because we are limited to 2 colors. However, the outfit parts are already available for players to use.
-
Harlequin and Ring Mistress costumes are already available for players to use. Unless you want the mask or the Ring Mistress top. (Edit: Or the Ring Mistress back piece.) And for the mask, you can use a Praetorian Carnie mask as a stand in.

costume suggestion Moth Parts for the Costume Creator

Extending a 2D object into 3D on a 2D plane is fine. It doesn't work anywhere near as well in a full 3D game though. So you are still better off asking for new parts.- 18 replies

So why no balance pass on Halloween EBs after 2 years?
Rudra replied to mechahamham's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This is definitely AT-dependent, and to a lesser extent dependent on the attack typing of the players' character. I've played on level 50 Tankers that were solo ToTing in Peregrine that simply dragged some Elite Bosses door-to-door because they'd take more time to defeat than a Giant Monster. You are still managing them though. You are managing them by ignoring them and weathering their attempts to kill you as opposed to managing them by stomping them into the ground, but you are still solo managing them. Edit: And if you have a character that runs from the EBs when they appear for any reason, then you are managing them by escaping and waiting for them to go away. So would still be solo managing them. Unless a player is playing through a defeat all mission, there is no need to expend the effort to defeat some enemies if you don't want to.- 37 replies

I know that this probably deserves its own post but yes this. It would be a good optimization setting and a good way to make the game look better, not sure how much work it would take though. Did you seriously just quote yourself and then agree with it?!- 18 replies

Not everyone builds for perma-Dom. I know I don't. Do you need Perma-Dom to handle the Ancient Vampire though? (I haven't done any ToT'ing with any of my Doms to know, let alone solo ToT'ing.)
-
I may be mistaken, but don't you find out that "Baron Zoria" isn't? I swear there is a mission where you go through what amounts to a Circle prison with souls in crystals designed to torment the spirits within, and the actual Baron Zoria is in one of those crystals, where he has been trapped and driven to or nearly to madness for the past 100 years. What the people calling out that the Council changes are bad seem to want is to have an enemy faction that they can fight at no risk to themselves. They are even decrying things the Council has done since Live (edit: specifically the werewolf transformations) as being a bad thing that got added in the update that beefed up the Council.
-
Holy hells! Someone said it! Yes! Oh so very much this! Setting aside that most people I know don't want to be team lead because of the responsibility, but oh so many people seem to think that running a team is grabbing missions for everyone to just run off and do whatever they choose to in.
-
I've only seen that happen when there is a league present to tax the server. And if there is a league in the vicinity, then I would advise moving well away from it to avoid that problem.
