Defense is king for MMs, and Force Field is the king of Defense. Pain, EA, and Nature are great if you want to support other characters on your team, but your henchman are a little on the squishy side and will often die before you can heal them. With Force Field your Henchmen will generally survive long enough for you to heal them with Aid Other, or Inspirations, or whatever. Basically if you want your Henchmen to seldom die choose the Force Field secondary. Or, you can do what everyone else does. Pick another secondary and then, when they get tired of constantly resummoning their Henchmen, start a thread on the forums complaining about how squishy MM Henchmen are.

Wait, so now I'm a Ninja? I feel like I'm hearing the song and just realized that I'm one of the Final Five.

They should have a sign somewhere in the character creator, that players can't miss, that explains to people that if the name/backstory/costume appears to be, or appears similar to, a trademarked character then their account could be perma-banned. It's not Homecoming's fault that the school system has failed so utterly that most people don't even understand "Why can't I just Superman, bruh?"

If Pets are this bad, what is the point of Masterminds?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Caios's topic in Mastermind
Take one of the more defensive secondaries, like Force Field. Pair it with Maneuvers and the special MM IO. Turn down the difficulty. Despite what many of the people in this forum believe, it's ok if you aren't soloing at +4/x8. Also, understand that as a Mastermind you're going to be resummoning your pets a lot. It's part of the intended gameplay loop. If you're not ok with that then maybe MM isn't the AT for you. -

Wait, what? So which one is it? Ok, well Council or not you should at least get your story straight before posting on the forums. -
I disagree. This isn't Champions the table top RPG. This is City of Heroes the online MMO from 2004. It launched with a trinity and it still has one. If an AV can't kill a squishy quickly then the entire Tanker AT might as well just be deleted. The AV didn't one-shot you. An AV should be able to disable and drop a SQUISHY that didn't properly prepare and then intentionally jumped into range of his most dangerous attacks. It's always been this way, and it's always been this way for a reason. That's why people usually want to have a tank on their team. Correct. And the amount of damage that he did to you would barely scratch the paint job on most of my tanks. Why? Because surviving heavy damage is what the Tanker AT does. It's their part of the TRINITY. The trinity which doesn't exist in Champions. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Yeah, I always have to preface my posts with this otherwise people will respond with some variation of "You don't know what you're talking about!!!" -

I've played a lot of MMs to 50 since the AT first existed. One of the reasons why /FF is my favorite secondary for MMs is that it keeps my pets from being so squishy. Especially when combined with Maneuvers and IOs. Also, you can have just one pet attack and the rest remain in BG mode. I often do this and the pet advances and takes the alpha strike alone, if he survives I heal him, if not then I just resummon. As Rudra pointed out there are inspirations that will protect the MM and all of the pets. So there are a lot of things you can do to increase your ability to survive that don't involve nerfing Council. -
It looks like my earlier guess was right. This is just the Tankfender version of last month's "my Defender doesn't do as much damage as a Blaster" thread. Your Defender not being able to tank as well as a Tank is working as intended.

I've never jumped off of a 100 story building. Am I allowed to say that I don't want to and probably wouldn't enjoy the experience? -

Well, at least the mods are no longer banning people for posting feedback in the feedback threads. So it's getting better in that regard. -

An Ad Hominem is a Logical Fallacy. "I don't know who you are therefore I don't believe what you're saying is true" is NOT a personal attack. If Logical Fallacies were against the rules you'd have to shut this forum down permanently. -

You switched from your normal account to your GM account and then deleted a bunch of posts that weren't violating any of the rules. -

You and me both, and I have the Warning Points to prove it. It sure is a good thing that I've been careful to not make any personal attacks. But hey, you feel free to report my posts. It's ok. I'm used to it. -
Yep, running a Task Force with "Enemies Buffed" is difficult, it's supposed to be. Guess what, not only will a tank not take that much damage because of resistances but if you have a good support character, like a Defender, they can help your tank to either not take or recover from said damage. Look, I think it's great that you can tank on your all Storm Defender team. But, in those rare circumstances where you can't, it makes no sense to act like it's a problem that needs to be solved. It isn't. Bottom line, your Defender cannot tank as well as a Tank can. That's not a problem that needs to be addressed. It's supposed to be that way.
-
You know, I don't usually agree with Snarky but when I do it's because he's right. You were trying to TANK with a DEFENDER. My Tank can't buff/debuff (or heal) and apparently your Defender can't tank. It's almost like this game has different character archetypes for a reason. What's next? Are you going to start complaining that your Defender doesn't do as much damage as your Blaster? Never mind, we already had that thread last month. Invite a TANK to your team, problem solved.

Shield Defense Idle Stance Change?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Mallador's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Shortly after Shield Defense went live on the retail servers my friends and I all created Broadsword/Shield Scrappers. We tried but were never able to get most emotes to work for more than a second or two if they worked at all. If even some of the emotes work now then that's an improvement from how it was in 2008/2009. -
I seem to remember that, in beta, people complained that the height scale in the character creator only went to 7 feet, so the scale was changed to go up to 8 feet. The characters weren't made any larger mind you, the only change was the numbers that showed on the left side of the screen in the character creator. So your character that's 7 foot tall in the character creator is really only 6 foot tall in the game world.

Guide: Peregrine Island Radio Missions aka PI radios
PeregrineFalcon replied to KaizenSoze's topic in Guides
It looks like I've been doing radio missions on My Island wrong all these decades. I generally start at +2/x6 and work up to +3/x8. Of course my teammates are usually under 50 and don't have any set IOs. I usually end up with Magnum Detective Selnum. And I don't avoid caves, because I actually like the cake room. Of course I always picked a variety of enemies to keep things from getting boring, so I'm one of the few that isn't upset with the Council upgrade. -

Powers that need alternate animations
PeregrineFalcon replied to strangething's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Every set needs to have a downside. Bio doesn't seem to have any except for the horrible appearance. I always thought that was the downside. For example: Invuln: "You get to be awesome, but you have a weakness to Psi attacks." Stone: "You get to be awesome, but you're slow." SR: "You get to be awesome, but you don't have a self-heal." Bio: "You get to be awesome, but you look like giant poo man." -
So first you need to go into City Hall in Atlas Park and talk to the person there to start a Super Group. Once you have that go to the base portal, choose "Enter my Super Group base" and then start building your base.
