Focused Feedback: Powerset - Gravity Control
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
My only Controller is Grav/Storm, so my perspective may be limited. It looks to me like the purpose behind adding Adaptive Recharge to AoE Holds in other sets is to allow a quick retry if the power misses/affects few foes, and to allow soloers to use their AoE hold more often, but tone them down so they're not overpowered on full teams. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. So if I am correct about that, can I ask why Adaptive Recharge wasn't added to Gravity Distortion Field? Why change it to a pseudopet that only holds some enemies but not others? Doesn't that make the power less reliable (unless it's Auto Hit on the enemies it randomly chooses) than the way it was before? -
Yeah, and I'm still waiting to see which happens first: Scrappers get Super Strength or Tankers get Energy Aura. Neither of which seem likely to happen in my lifetime.

I have to admit, this seems ridiculous. 😁 -
Superman: Legacy First Look
PeregrineFalcon replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Clearly I won't, and I never said otherwise. However, there are certain signs. Patterns if you will that I've noticed with other movies that ended up being bad that I'm seeing with this movie. And I hope that I'm wrong, because I actually want it to be a good movie. You are correct. Once again, you are correct. And, fortunately for me, you do not get to control what I am allowed to say. Feel free to go into my post history and down vote a bunch of my posts like you used to do. In any case I'm done responding to you. Take care and have a great Friday! -
Superman: Legacy First Look
PeregrineFalcon replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Oh I do so love it when folks deliberately "misunderstand" that quote. 😄 I'm not offended by the possibility of a the new Superman movie having dialog as I described in my last post. I just wouldn't find it entertaining, and I wouldn't want to watch it, and I certainly wouldn't wany to pay for tickets. There's a huge difference between "OMG! I'm offended" and "Nah, I'm out thanks." And you know that Whiz. You didn't misunderstand my quote, you're way smarter than that. You deliberately pretended to misunderstand it in an attempt to dunk on me. Well, all I have to say is, to quote another movie, "Try harder. Try again." -
Superman: Legacy First Look
PeregrineFalcon replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Yes. The issue is that I want to watch a good Superman movie. Now, if there's also a little bit of a political story in there, as there was in Man of Steel, that's fine. One of the things that I liked about Man of Steel is that the authorities reacted realistically instead of just being non-existent like they have been in most Superman stories. But if the dialog comes off like a blue-haired, patriarchy hater is condescendingly lecturing me about "Orange Man Bad". . . Well, I don't plan on sitting in the theater for two hours listening to that garbage. -
I don't know if Critical Drinker wants these films to fail, I know that I certainly don't. But I do find that, at least the movies that I have seen, his opinion almost always mirrors mine to a 'T'. So when he gives his opinion on the ones that I haven't seen, I find it highly likely that my opinion will match his. Maybe that makes me a shitty, formulaic, grifter in your eyes. Fortunately, I don't allow others' opinions of me to affect me one way or the other.

Ya know, I love Christopher Reeve, but Man of Steel is still my favorite Superman movie. -

Talk about the "good ol' days!"
PeregrineFalcon replied to Display Name's topic in General Discussion
I had to. Which is really funny because every time my friends and I take the tram in Paragon City we yell "To the Subway of Justice!" specifically because of this cartoon. We'd been saying it so long that I'd nearly forgotten where it'd originally came from. -
I noticed that neither the Paragon server, nor Vanguard server, are mentioned on the Wiki. Was Paragon the secret server run by SCORE during the Dark Times?

Oh wait! It gets better.

Looks like your wait is over:

The Fantastic Four: First Steps
PeregrineFalcon replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
@Excraft @ZacKing Do you guys need anymore proof that he's never going to change his mind, no matter what you say? -
By all means go see it then. I'm not one of those that says other people can't enjoy a movie, or game, that I don't. Nor am I one of those that calls people -ists and -phobes if they don't watch a movie that I do. I hope you watch it and enjoy it. I'm actually not happy because it looks like I was right. I really wanted this movie to be good. Unfortunately it looks like it'll be yet another example of a movie that does poorly and then the star and director will attack fans on social media.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps
PeregrineFalcon replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I'm sure you already know this, but you're wasting your time talking to him. He's not going to change his mind, he's going to just keep on ignoring everything thing you say while continuing to insist that you don't like the new FF reveal only because you're a "misogynist who doesn't like that a woman's in charge." No matter how many times you tell him that the real reason is because it looks like they're changing Sue's entire personality he's going to keep on holding his hands over his ears while chanting "nah nah nah can't hear you, you just don't like girl boss, nah nah nah you're a bigot." -
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
PeregrineFalcon replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
It may be a cliche, but that's because it's something that is often true. Look, someone can be a "mother figure" without the adult men around her being children. The Matriarch is long standing archetype for a reason. In large families the actual mother, or grandmother, is often the Matriarch who, while not quite the leader, is a respected figure who guides people into certain directions, helps family members and gets them to cooperate. You say this like it's supposed to be a valid critique. It's a comic book! It's not supposed to be Shakespeare, or a scientifically accurate historical text. It's a comic book written for kids and teenagers. If you change the story because it's not grown-up enough for you, or scientifically accurate enough for you, then it's no longer the same story and they're no longer The Fantastic Four. Yeah, and? I don't see anything wrong with that picture. Why don't you tell me what's wrong with that picture. -
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
PeregrineFalcon replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Are you REALLY trying to argue that comic books aren't ultra realistic takes on the how the world works? What's dumb about it? What's wrong with a strong mother figure? Families and moms are very important to human society. Moms in particular are extremely important. Spoiler alert: the entire species dies off without them. And Sue Storm being the super powered mom figure of the team is part of The Fantastic Four's lore. Change that and you're no longer telling a story about The Fantastic Four, you're telling your own story about a group of super heroes that are wearing Fantastic Four skins suits. This at least I can agree with. But the writers can make Sue Storm a strong supporting character without making her a man-hating feminist girl-boss that "don't need no man." How are Reed's motivations bizarre? He's a curious scientist that wants to learn more about how the universe operates. What's bizarre about that? -

Eternal Phoenix IS a trademarked name???
PeregrineFalcon replied to omegacypher's topic in Help & Support
I recommend PMing @GM Crumpet and asking him if he would be kind as to inform you specifically why your character was genericized. Perhaps that will allow you to create the character that you want without stepping over the line that gets you hammered again. -
Well, one of the spiritual successors, Ship of Heroes, is supposed to be launching within the next two months.

Ok, so I checked Homecoming Wiki and apparently my memory was wrong. Issue 6 went live on October 27, 2005. I do remember that I started playing in May 2006 with City of Villains and Issue 7 came and after I started playing. I guess maybe I thought Issue 6 came then? I don't know what I was thinking but I was clearly wrong. Feel free to make fun of me for it. Anyway, I read tons of stories on the retail forums about what the game was like prior to Issue 6. Dumpster diving for XP, tanks herding entire maps, etc. Honestly, none of that ever sounded fun to me at all and I'm glad that I missed all of that. That being said, Jack posting fake videos to justify the GDN, and lying to paying customers about it, and lying about ED, and lying when he said "we didn't cut CoH back to a skeleton crew", all of that is completely inexcusable. I still think the game is better with Enhancement Diversification.
