  1. You know who needs to do this? YOU. You and me and all of us. The devs do not have the time to be going out and talking to thousands of people and trying to get them to join us in Paragon City. You know who does have the time to do that? The thousands of people who already play the game. Internet peoples are funny. In a thread awhile back I kept seeing people post "I wouldn't pay a sub fee", but those same people would turn around and post "the devs deserve to get paid." No self-awareness whatsoever. If the players want more people to play this game then the players need to recruit more people to play this game. The players need to spend more time teaming with other people, instead of soloing all the time, and teaching the n00bs how to play. But instead you all keep posting "someone else needs to do it, not me!" No one else is going to do it. You do it or it isn't going to happen. Sorry Betty. None of this post is directed at you specifically, but to everyone on the forum as a whole. Your post was just perfect for me to quote in this situation.
  2. The real crime is that something like 80% of people access the internet solely through their cell phone! While I've had gaming laptops that worked fine, I also much prefer full sized desktops. And though I have a smart phone, just the thought of using it for anything other than calls and listening to podcasts while at work, annoys me. Thanks for starting this thread @Hyperstrike, I always appreciate it when people let me know which companies to avoid because they sell garbage designed to scam people out of money instead of just offering a quality product. Now can someone please tell me where I go to buy a graphics card that doesn't have LEDs all over it that constantly changes hues all of the time? Cause that $^#*'s really annoying. Why in the ^$^@ &#^$ do I need lights on a graphics card?!? That's like having cool designs on my underwear. No one's gonna see it so why is it even there? What's next? A light in my refrigerator that doesn't turn off when I close the door? Boy won't that be useful! Thread jack complete.
  3. That's too bad. Well, maybe they'll upgrade to Unreal Engine 5:
  4. While I'm normally in the "don't worry about what other players are doing and just mind your own business" camp, I can see the benefit to everyone if the Atlas Park AE was closed and moved to say Kings Row. New players would be required to at least learn how to find a mission contact and learn how to travel to a different zone. I don't think anyone could argue that a player shouldn't have these two basic skills. However, it wouldn't slow "oldbies" from farming a new character to 50 in the slightest. I honestly don't believe that anyone could argue, in good faith, that this change would be in anyway detrimental to anyone. But I'm certain that someone will be along any moment now to try. Good luck! 😁
  5. I can't believe that we haven't seen the appearance of your popcorn eatin pic yet. I am disappoint!
  6. It's interesting that you say that. Did you know that you can sign up for the Ship of Heroes player housing beta? It's going to happen from May 5th to May 8th. You'll be able to log in and try it out, but only if you sign up for it. Maybe this will be the game you're looking for.
  7. Something that I want to mention, again, is that everyone should be prepared for the possibility that Homecoming will forever "be in talks with NCSoft." There are number of reasons for this that have been discussed elsewhere in this forum. Bottom line: it's more probable that talks continue forever than it is for NCSoft to work something out with Homecoming. Now that being said, my answer to the OP: Everyone who plays should let everyone they know that City of Heroes Homecoming is a thing. Even if they already know it never hurts to remind them. Ask everyone you know to tell everyone they know, or at least everyone they know that's a gamer. When you log into the game tell people in broadcast, or general, or any other channel that you spend time in that a lot of people still don't know that CoH is back and ask them to tell everyone they know. Why? Well, as we've seen many times, most people who play do not read the forums.
  8. Sometimes people just need to vent. Especially when it's about something they care about as much as City of Heroes. Also, where's my random assortment of Pacing of the Turtle IOs? 🙂
  9. Fair enough. The only problem that I have is that you fundamentally misunderstood my post. I did not write "Everyone is galactic levels of power, everyone is 15 year olds power tripping", as you claimed. What I actually wrote was "The only real problem that I've had with roleplayers and and roleplaying in City of Heroes is that everyone that I've encountered is of Galactus levels of power." So it seems that you took it as me attacking all roleplayers in City of Heroes, whereas what I actually wrote referred ONLY to people that I was trying to roleplay with. So unless you were one of those people that I was attempting to roleplay with on the retail servers, back in 2007, there's no reason for you to get defensive as I wasn't even talking about you. It came across as a rude generalization because you didn't actually read the words that I wrote. You read what you wanted to read and then attacked me because of what you thought I wrote.
  10. No you didn't. What you actually wrote was: Doesn't seem to me like you asked a question. It appears to me that you were mocking the fact that I'd dared to post in the roleplay section of the forums. Which is basically what I wrote. I wrote that post without naming you specifically because I wasn't trying to "name and shame", I was merely commenting on the event. In answer to your question though, I posted because I am interested in roleplaying and offered an example of my experience with it. I'm not sure why you decided to become so defensive about my posting in the roleplaying section of the forums. I will tell you though that I will continue to post in this, or any other, section of the forums whether you like it or not. At least until the moderators perma-ban me.
  11. I've never really thought about it before, but why is it that we have Dark Magic powersets and Demon Summoning but no light powerset and no Angel Summoning? It does seem a bit one-sided, doesn't it?
  12. And once again I ask, what's the point of even having the power if it's watered down to the point of being worthless? If it's not going to be powerful enough to matter then why have it at all? I think that either a -end cost or +special could work, as long as neither of them are dependent on the HP of teammates, or watered down to the point of being a waste of time.
  13. This seems to me like you're saying "There's no reason not to do it because the bonus won't be large enough to matter." If I'm reading that right then my response to that is "If the bonus isn't large enough to matter then why have it? If it's not big enough to help then why take the time to code it?" Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I'm really not. I never understood the point behind having an endurance bonus that doesn't help you if you're doing your job correctly, and this is just a different kind of bonus that doesn't help you if you're doing your job correctly. You agreed with that in the past, but now you're advocating for it and your defense of it boils down to "it won't be a large enough bonus to matter." I honestly can't understand how this would be an improvement over the current inherent that also doesn't help you if you're doing your job correctly. My favorite Defender is Force Field/Beam Rifle. Is the +Special going to add Defense or DDR to my bubbles? Is it going keep my Aid Other from being interrupted? No? Then it doesn't help my Defender at all. You know what would help my Defender? A +Mez resistance, or endurance cost discount, that scales up per teammate regardless of their HP.
  14. Peace is a lie. There is only Dark Armor! 😁
  15. Wait! Weren't you the one who said: But now you're arguing in favor of an inherent that would do the same thing, just for powers instead of for endurance. What am I missing here? Can you please explain that to me?
  16. I have a Willpower/Broadsword Tanker, on villainside, that looks like an angel. White feather wings and all. How would you justify that? If you're going to say that a Mastermind with Angel pets shouldn't be able to go villainside, then, by that same premise, villains should not have access to white wings or the angel halo costume parts. It's up to the player to justify their individual choices in game, not the developers.
  17. It's almost like... People have jobs! I know. Weird, huh? 😁
  18. The more I think about this the more I believe that it should be a bit of both. - Endurance Cost * each teammate AND: +Mez Resistance * each teammate After some thought I disagree with the +Special because that would just make the Repeat Offenders (or any team with multiple Defenders) even more OP.
  19. Or instead try Taunt, Nemesis Staff and Hand Clap. By the time those are done animating the Rage crash is over. So many of you act like the 10 second Rage crash is the end of the world. THE END OF THE WORLD!!!! Ahhhhhhhh! Ridiculous. 🙄
  20. A friend of mine made his Jedi as a Psionic/Ninja Blaster. He used the Talsorian Vanguard Sword as his Ninjato, of course. A Kat/SR or Kat/WP Scrapper would be perfect if only there were a Psionic Epic Power Pool for Scrappers.
  21. Why not? I understand them not wanting to directly importing the powers, they wouldn't be balanced for a player character. But what would be wrong with using the same models and using similar powers so that they are balanced and operate mostly like the NPC versions? While we're at it, why not Freakshow MMs? Or Hellion or Outcast or even Family MMs? But not Skulls MMs. Cause Skulls all need to die.
  22. I posted basically the same thing @MHertz in another thread last month: "I think it's better for roleplaying if you're of moderate level superhero instead of Galactus. I actually think that level of power is a real trap for actual roleplayers." And of course one of those roleplayers took offense, because of course they did, and basically said "how dare you post in our subforum!" So yeah. When you ask people why they think roleplaying means "power-tripping and trying to lord it over other people", people get upset and attack, instead of actually considering the possibility that it's a real question. An important question that, if they actually thought about it, could actually improve their roleplay sessions for everyone. And that's all I can say because I guarantee that this post will be reported and a moderator will be reading it just looking for an excuse.
