Your Opinion on Sets and ATs that Over or Underperform

Rise of the Phoenix and Soul Transfer buffs?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Ston's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Bonfire with a KB > KD IO alone is better than all of the other powers in all of the other Blaster Epic Pools combined. In my opinion. It makes no difference. Those characters outnumber all other characters combined for a reason. And please don't try to tell me that farming is soooooo completely different than normal gameplay. Yes, it's a little different, but it's still going around killing stuff. Whatever works in farming is going to work in normal gameplay, with some exceptions. And please don't give me a list of all of those times in which normal gameplay is different than farming. I already said with some exceptions. Anything you list will fall under "exceptions." Sorry, I just feel the need to explain that word to people now days. Personally I just pick up a couple of the P2W self-rezzes, almost never use them, and call it good. -
Rise of the Phoenix and Soul Transfer buffs?
PeregrineFalcon replied to Ston's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I am completely against any buffs whatsoever to Fiery Armor and Flame Mastery. Fiery Armor is far and away the most common armor set in the game. Fiery Armor characters outnumber everything else in game, according to the stats published by a game dev. Simply put, Fiery Armor doesn't need any buffs whatsoever. And Flame Mastery for Blasters? It's already the only choice for Blaster Epic Pools, being far better than all of the other choices. I don't remember enough about Dark Armor to have a viable opinion. -

Yeah, ok. I didn't say that it happened in three days, but it has happened. Nice attempt to strawman my argument. Oh look! Here's a thread: Indomitable Needs Your Help - "What I am asking, is that some of you put a character or two back on Indom to prop up the numbers..." Yeah, people are starting threads like that because the server population is soooooooo tremendously high. I guess you're right. I guess that I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh, except that here's where you admit that I actually do know what I'm talking about. I like that you changed your mind and admitted that I'm right in the very same post. How very Snopes of you. Look, I realize that you're the CoH PvP Guru, and I'm not saying that sarcastically, but do you really have to disagree with everything anyone says that appears to be against PvP even when you admit that it's true?

I'm fairly certain that most of the PvE crowd will agree with me when I say: I don't care what you do to change PvP. Leave it as is, revert it to pre-I13 state, change the rules to something else entirely, whatever. I just don't want the developers spending a lot of time on PvP changes for the 10 whole people who PvP as opposed to the 99% of us who don't. Don't believe me? Read the thread about Idom, the PvP server, dying People are desperately trying to get people to play on that server. Everyone left that server when it was announced that it was the PvP server. Even the PvPers left. Most of the Homecoming PvP happens on Excelsior these days. So yeah. Do whatever you want with PvP. Just please don't spend a ton of developer time for the 10 whole people who still PvP because that's time you could be spending coding things for the rest of us who don't. Not that my opinion matters.

Spread the word. Tell all of your friends that CoH is still around. Welcome home!
-
Also, a LOT of people are taking a break from CoH and playing: End of Dragons, which recently released. Legacy of the Sith, which recently released. Endwalker, which recently released.

I don't like it. Part of the challenge of hostage missions is locating the hostages. This game already holds your hand enough as is.

You have to create a brand new account. Nothing of accounts or characters was saved from the retail servers.

Personally I'm against any buff to Willpower. I have a Willpower tank and several Willpower scrappers. It appears to me that the design intention for Willpower is "the set that's fairly tough without the player having to do anything." Along with "a Tier-9 that's helpful but not overpowered and can't be made perma." And in that it succeeds quite well. It has a few weaknesses that are easily covered with Inspirations and/or pool powers. Sure it's not Granite, and I don't believe that it's intended to be. I think that it's intended to be the fixed regen and/or other unspecified toughness that doesn't really cause FX. Honestly I think that Willpower is one of the few sets that shouldn't be touched at all because it's exactly where it should be.

Option to always decline teleports
PeregrineFalcon replied to Hedgefund's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I definitely think this would be a good idea, especially if the process of coding this also requires the devs to fix the problems with Team Teleport. -
First, I want to say that this is clearly a horrible and unacceptable thing to say to someone. I don't care who they are. Secondly, it's worse to say things like this online because we all know that most people wouldn't have the courage to say this stuff to people IRL. So it just makes the person saying it online look like a coward. Third, I don't know that we want this thread to devolve into us just posting examples of the horrible things people have said to us. Or maybe we do. If so just let me know, I have a long list of horrible things that people have said to me online. And some of those people were game devs.

I'll take your word that that happened. I personally never saw that, unlike the reverse.

What would happen in PVE builds could be used in PVP?
PeregrineFalcon replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
It's funny. I just posted in another thread addressing this exact thing. Short version: the PvEers were cheering the devs on when they killed PvP with Issue 13. Because of how rude and insulting the PvPers were to them. That's the "good times" you're referring to. And yeah, I know what you mean about passing the time at work. Some days are definitely busier than others. 😃 -
You know, it's funny that you say that, Troo. Because I distinctly remember why the PvEers feel this way about the PvPers. A week or so before Issue 13 went live the PvPers realized that they weren't going to get the developers to change their minds. So they appealed to the player base. They started a thread with a short video showing people what PvP in CoH was like, how fun it was. And they pleaded with the PvE players to join them in their push-back against the changes. The response was hundreds of posts of "If the PvPers hadn't been such d*****'s to me I'd probably be on their side, but after what they did to me I hope the devs kill PvP. LOL" Now if the PvE player base had joined with the PvPers to push back against the PvP changes would the devs have implemented them anyway? Well, history (GDN & ED) says yes, but who knows? But we never got to find out because of the animosity the PvEers had against the PvPers. And many of the PvEers still, to this day, have that animosity. I'm not defending people who insult PvPers, just explaining where it comes from. .

What would happen in PVE builds could be used in PVP?
PeregrineFalcon replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
@The_Warpact I don't know if you're just doing interesting thought experiments, or actually trying to get more people to PvP. If it's the later you're wasting your time. No amount of interesting threads, or special events, is going to lure a bunch of people back into PvP at this late date. -
Now I'm with you in that I don't understand getting anxious or fearful over something that's happening on a screen, and for much the same reason. However, the smack talk used to really infuriate me when I was younger. Now I just get mildly annoyed and roll my eyes. But it's still annoying. Now imagine stacking all of that on top of the self-reported anxiety attacks and other various social and mental health issues that a lot of people on this forum (this is according to their own posts Mr. Moderator) claim to have and I'm sure that you can see how unlikely it is that many people will ever look forward to entering a PvP zone in CoH.
-
Ok, so I don't PvP in CoH. I'm not someone who never PvPs or who hates PvPers. I have PvP'd a LOT in SWTOR and GW2. I don't PvP in CoH because CoH PvP sucks. While game developers love being able to separate PvE and PvP powers/abilities, it's always a bad idea. People get used to playing their character a certain way. You'll always have to learn play differently in PvP, no matter which game you're playing. So not only do people trying out PvP have to learn to play differently, but they also have to learn what their powers actually do in this new game-mode. That just raises the bar for entry, makes the learning curve that much steeper, and basically makes PvP and PvE into completely different games. This just makes it that much harder to learn how to PvP. It makes people upset because the character that like playing now plays like a completely different character. And it frustrates and angers people when they get knocked/perma-stunned/one-shotted and they can't even figure out why it happened, because that never happens in the other game mode. And the name-calling and tea-bagging doesn't help. And don't give me any of that "grow a thicker skin" nonsense. How about YOU learn to speak to me online the same way you'd talk to me in person. Otherwise don't complain about the PvP zones being empty. YOU literally caused that yourself.

If it's on their property, yes. I purchased my mailbox and I dug the hole and planted it in the ground myself. So, yes. I own my mailbox. PS: the USPS doesn't own your mail or your mailbox, they just deliver the mail. On the base that I was stationed at, Burger King rented a building and sold their products to the military personnel on that base. Neither Burger King, nor their employees, were military members. You have failed Philosophy 101. You may enroll again next semester if you like, but you will not get a refund for this year's class.
