So we're clearly being trolled here. This guy is walking along, bait in the water, writing things that clearly aren't true, trying to see if he can reel in a big chunk of forum flamage. Please remember that the last troll poster (Diantane) tricked a lot of people into getting themselves a bunch of warning points and temp bans because of the way the mods protected him. My advice: Don't fall for it. Don't respond. Just walk away.

Actually I love Handclap. I have it on my Will/SS Tanker. I have it slotted with a KB > KD IO, and it functions as a second Footstomp. Sure, it doesn't do any damage, but between those two attacks, and Air Sup and Knockout Blow, I spend all of my time throwing the enemies around. It's hilarious! Besides, my friend the Blaster does more than enough damage for the both of us. There's few things funnier than me knocking the whole group down and then watching him light them on fire before they can even get back up. Oh, and I don't farm. Ever. .

I have a question about CoH culture.
PeregrineFalcon replied to Brawlin's topic in General Discussion
I've done some online searching and been unable to find anything about this. Could you please explain to me: How is using Discord shady? What controversy is behind it? How is it any more of a hassle than any other program? Thanks in advance for the info. -
I have a question about CoH culture.
PeregrineFalcon replied to Brawlin's topic in General Discussion
Ok, so first of all I agree that using Discord as a means to find groups is not how I've ever used it, and I would not recommend it for that. It's best for voice chat between friends and SG members. Quite simply the speed and ease of verbal communication over that of in-game text chat is amazing. Also, there's a lot to be said with just being able to chit-chat with the other people on your team. Being social is an ingrained part of being human. And chatting with other people that you're gaming with makes the game a more enjoyable experience for anyone who doesn't have... 'issues.' Try one or more of: Moving the mic away from your mouth. Going into Discord settings and adjusting the sensitivity of your mic. Activating the Push-To-Talk feature. Not blaming others for your mistakes. Other people shouldn't have to listen to you huffing and puffing into the microphone simply because you can't be bothered to operate your equipment properly. What's next? A post about how you hate driving a car because every time you change lanes without using your turn signals people get mad and yell at you? -
Craig Zinkievich (Zinc on the forums) was the executive producer for STO from start until about 6 months after launch. He was then replaced by Daniel Stahl (dstahl). Jack Emmert (Jackalope) really wasn't involved in the creation of Star Trek Online. After launch he wrote a couple of posts on the STO forums about trying to get the executive producer to add more KDF content. So he clearly wasn't directly involved in the development either. At that point he was listed as the Chief Creative Officer for Cryptic Studios. WTF that is. I understand the hate that a lot of people have for Jack. After all, he lied to a lot of CoH customers about a lot of things. A lot of people don't like being lied to, especially by people they're paying money to.

I think this is a great idea! The suggestion was clearly worded, by an obvious genius, and it will bring nothing but joy and happiness to Homecoming. I approve! 😄

No. I have a high-speed cable ISP. Look, all of the attacks have animation times. I [TAB] to a target and hit the attack button, 2.37 seconds later the attack goes off. The animation for the next attack then starts because I already hit the button and it's queued. 1.2 seconds later that attack fires off. The animation for the next attack starts and 1.86 seconds later that attack happens. In an FPS I can literally perform a mag dump and kill multiple targets in the same time that it takes me to fire off 2 or 3 powers in City of Heroes. Or SWTOR, or WoW, or ESO, or LOTRO, or Rift. In GW2 I can attack, dodge roll, give myself Aegis and then attack again all in the time it would take me to perform 2 attacks in City of Heroes. Geez, people. Is slow -in comparison- really that difficult a concept to grasp?

Probably the best graphics you'll find with the old-fashioned game play that you want will be either Rift (a WoW clone with better graphics), Star Wars the Old Republic (ditto), or Elder Scrolls Online (which I somehow forgot to mention earlier). Also, Champions Online actually has pretty good graphics if you tweek the options a bit. None of those have great graphics, but the graphics is better than CoH.

Compared to an FPS, or an action combat MMO, the game play of City of Heroes, and the other games that I've mentioned, can be described as slow. You fire off a power, wait for it to animate, queue another power while the first one's animating, unable to move during most of that time. Slow. Or are you going to try to tell me that CoH's gameplay is as fast and as reflex driven as say Terra's or GW2's? Or as anything in the FPS genre?

Favourite/most hated enemy group
PeregrineFalcon replied to FenrisWolf44's topic in General Discussion
Or... you could play a Rogue and/or Villain character. Just sayin. Yeah. In fact it was how easy it was fighting Council and Family later on that made me wonder if the devs who designed Clocks and Vahz knew what the heck they were doing. -
Favourite/most hated enemy group

Hate: Clockwork and Vahzilok at low levels. I think we all know why. Love: Carnies (I love to hear the screams of my victims) and PPD (It's just cathartic). -

Ah. I clearly misunderstood what you meant then. My mistake. -
I have a question about CoH culture.
PeregrineFalcon replied to Brawlin's topic in General Discussion
Almost every time I play Homecoming I'm on Discord with friends. When I played on the retail servers I was almost always on Skype with friends. Multiple times on both forums I've asked people why they don't talk with friends or fellow forumites on VOIP. Not PuGs. Not randos. Not people from 4chan. People they actually know, possibly IRL. The negative responses that I've always received were always weird and nonsensicle. Best I can figure is that the people who play CoH are just allergic to the very idea of actually speaking to another human being while playing City of Heroes. -
Daredevil On D+...?
PeregrineFalcon replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I watched a couple of the Daredevil episodes on Netflix. Mostly the ones that had Frank in them. Then I watched The Punisher. I really liked the Punisher Netflix series, I liked the backstory and the character development. Now I want to see more of him just being the Punisher. The best thing that D+ can do, in my opinion, is to just continue the Punisher series with the same actor, only have it focus mostly on the planning and the action. The less dialog and the more gunshots per episode the better. -
I remember having discussions on the live servers, several times, about Longbow. And I love these kind of hypothetical discussions. They highlight the difference between the childlike (i.e. comic book genre) point of view and a more nuanced and adult point of view. Children yell " But they're the good guys!", as if that just magically makes everything ok. Adults are the ones who ask "Isn't using flamethrowers on civilians a violation of the Hague Accords?" Children say it's ok that Longbow's in Mercy because "they trying to help!" Adults ask themselves if we really want to allow corporations to use private troops to invade sovereign nations. Children think that cops are heroes. Adults wonder why there are so many videos online of cops shooting unarmed people, who have their hands in the air and are trying to surrender, and wonder if hero is really the correct word to describe PPD officers. Children can't foresee the consequences of their actions. They allow psychics to enter the police force and then complain when DHS officers come knocking on their doors to ask them about some questionable tweets. Like I said, I love these hypothetical discussions. You know, I don't usually agree with Snarky, but when I do it's because he's right. For too long we've allowed Longbow to run rampant in the streets of our cities with their flamethrowers and no oversight. They've burned down buildings, caused billions in property damage, killed innocent citizens, and shut down all dissent. They claimed that their masks would keep us safe while condemning the protests against them as "super spreader events." Definitely a cult.

What Can Be Done to Recruit Players?

I really love this idea! An NPC in Atlas and Mercy that explains a LOT of little details that aren't otherwise explained in game: Enhancement Diversification, Bodyguard Mode, The Law of Fives, etc. I don't even think it would need to adjust to the AT of the character, perhaps just a list of various topics that the player can click on to get another window with an explanation of that subject.

What Can Be Done to Recruit Players?

I remember. I remade my main on Bree and was unhappy when it closed. I'm pretty sure it was the Homecoming team even then. It's just that their first server was called Bree. -

Uh oh! You know what this means, right? Incoming warning about how we've posted too much and it got a certain someone's attention. As if the entire purpose behind forums isn't to post on them. 🙄 -
What Can Be Done to Recruit Players?

Yeah. That was not the first post that Postron made about the subject. The one I'm referring to wasn't up on the forums for very long. A couple of hours maybe. I don't remember that exactly. That's a quote from the second post that he did later. In any case, I think the request for a citation has been satisfied.
