  1. This is a great thread, as a aficionado of history, this is a great spotting of detail and where the Developers (or at least graphic artists) might have made a few oopsies for the sake of saving time. Though, given how many Camp Prefects and Centurions are in Romulus' army, it'd be no surprise Requiem can't keep track of his own awards either. Romulus either started handing out promotions of centurion randomly to entice people to serve him (though looking at the Imperious loyalists, maybe not) or he nor Imperious are actually capable of counting. For reference. (Also funny how FFXIV, a Japanese game is more accurate with their rankings of the Garlean army when Garlemald is an entirely fantasy nation)
  2. Doesn’t Martial Manipulation have that? that said, if I were to change/add anything to Practiced Brawler (since it ONLY gives mez protection to KB/D, hold, sleep, and Stun [confuse protection is from focused senses] compared to /nin giving psi resistance and +movement and Active Defense giving defense debuff resistance along with protection from all mez forms]) I would probably give it strong taunt/placate resistance, maybe a -tohit resistance too? mechanically taunt/placate are pretty rare (appearing only on Black Knight Eternal Guards, CoT succubus, and Arachnos Bane Spider scouts), but when they do come up it can be pretty frustrating and annoying, ironically more so because SR means when you’re placated, you cannot target that enemy again until they finally manage to hit you which can be a while. Conceptually it would be unique from other mez protections outside of SoAs and works on the idea of a good reflexes also let you keep focus on a target regardless of attempts to distract you.
  3. To chime in a bit (admittedly after only skimming the thread) PB and other click mez protections have one valuable thing going for them: when he protection doesn’t immediately drop if you get hit with heavy -End or -Recovery. Which might not seem like much but it does mean if your end goes down the drain and drops your other toggles, you can theoretically still run away (like from Malta, Seers, and Carnies who have both end drain and a lot of mez) or even pop some inspirations and continue the fight.
  4. Richard Epcar for Statesman. Also known as the dub voice of Joseph Joestar in Stardust Crusaders and Raiden in the modern Mortal Kombat games. Also, alternative suggestion for Jeffery Combs: Montague Castanella.
  5. Uh, @Eva Destruction, you might want to reread my post. I’m not talking about the Cimeroran Stronghold, Requiem himself speaks of many that have been set up throughout time. Cimerora wasn’t even the first one according to him, it had just been another that proved especially interesting because of how tough Cimerorans were.
  6. (Recycling a double post! Remember to save the earth, kids!) on the note of scirocco’s redemption arc and objections against it, one idea I had myself before it was revealed he would redeem himself was to take a page out of the Black Lagoon anime/manga. That idea being Scirocco realizes he will NEVER be free from his curse and is stuck a villain, so he reasons he’ll just be the best villain possible and basically anger the rest of the world enough that the Rogue Isles is suddenly the target of every WMD stock of every other country in the world. This would put Recluse of all people in a hot seat because suddenly telling the POTUS that half of his secret service detail actually work for him and will murder bim, his family, his friends, and dog if he stares too hard at the Isles stops working because Scirocco went and angered the entire US government in a way that can’t be ignored or forgiven.
  7. Here’s a plot thread had been left hanging well before the game’s closure, interestingly: https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Imperious_Task_Force#Stop_Romulus while I get some of them had to survive for the 5th Column to return, the fact that there’s not just a 5th column stronghold in Cimerora, but across the world and history seems a PRETTY DAMN IMPORTANT THING THAT WAS NEVER ADDRESSED.
  8. back alley brawler back on live said he wanted to try this and tested it. Said the rigging was too wonky. The original plan was to make a fusionette shield. that said, on other servers, they have a “human” model for a bow. So there might be some work around. Or the rigging for bows is somehow different than shields.
  9. Eh, for me the annoying part is that I'll put together a build, post it an ask for input and... nada. I mean, I get it, no one's obligated, but still kind of a frustrating bummer, you know?
  10. A very VERY common bit of -regen crops up that people forget that can persist from level 1-50 depending on the content you run: Praetorian Clockwork. Are their individual debuffs powerful? No, not really, but the thing is when you encounter Praetorian Clockwork, it's a huge mob and every single one will be showering you in -regen and you can be stuck fighting them from level 1-50 due to how common it is to encounter them in Praetorian related content.
  11. Real question: can you explain the logic behind this? From my standpoint, stacking the two works well because You can now fly fast and have good control (as a basebuilder this is kind of a godsend) You can have some extra defense while in transit, handy for Peregrine and Founders' where snipers abound. The two together would be too end costly to keep them going through combat, so you'll still probably want to toggle off fly once a fight formally starts. (that and travel suppression)
  12. This, so much. i think a good start might be taking Malestrom and maybe foreshadow’s hairs since I think those are Player model compatible and just need color tweaking, and to top it off both characters have plenty of unique thing about them that giving out their hair shouldn’t water down their identity.
  13. As someone who has long wanted a “shieldless” shield defense, I’ll accept this. though part of why I like shield is that grant cover works conceptually for a frontline fighter being a tactical leader and shield charge being shield charge.
  14. If hasten and combat jumping weren’t things I’d suggest making travel pools (or rather one travel pool) not count towards the limit. But I’d also like it if (one) origin pool pick didn’t count towards the limits either for conceptual reasons. But I also do understand some of the concerns others have, I feel like this is one of those issues best approaches after we do something about the game’s difficulty balances. Which, even if we had the live team working on things will admittedly be a long long time.
  15. I too think it'd be cool to play Valkyrie or Spartan warrior in City. That said, I think spear should be it's own set (notice how much you're smacking people with the sides in staff) that would call for basically double the animation assets of normal. A two-handed version and a single handed version that could be paired with shield. I'm not even sure we could have tech for weapon sets that could make such alterations.
  16. Time for some comfy base building streams to lo-fi music!
  17. Let’s not forget there’s launch powers with names like “decapitate” and “head splitter”. Edit: correction, the tier 1 for battle axe is BEHEADER, also broadsword has both headsplitter and DISEMBOWEL, and we can't forget claws has Eviscerate. Yeah, and these were all powers given to heroes before it redside was much more than maybe discussion around the water cooler at the offices.
  18. I can agree with the OP idea, though I've also thought that to preserve the feel of Kallisti as now (namely a pretty cozy place), all mobs spawns should be something triggered as zone events or something like that? Basically, if you want to find trouble in Kallisti, you need to look a bit harder for it (this might also deter people from clocking into Kallisti and never checking anything else out), everything else is found through contacts and mission content. Though this could be insanely complicated as zone events have always been kind of sparse in City, so I'm guessing they might not have been something easy to code. Some rough ideas for some zone events could include: A 'tug of war' between red and blueside events where when one side does something, it affects the otherside and visaversa, a sort of 'soft PVP' with villain actions inspiring crime on the heroside and heroic work freeing up law enforcement to crack down on the villain side. Villainside getting an 'open zone bank heist'. All the fun of a mayhem mission now with even more chaos. A "containment breach" at the Crey building has led to an out pouring of escaped experiments. Heroes must save civilians, contain the experiments, and investigate the cause! A Council/UPA Zone event for both sides to team up against a common foe seeking to cement a headquarters in Kallisti! And while this next part might not be possible with our current team, a cool idea would be that this coop event gives special objectives based on your alignment, like Vigilantes hunt down some politicians/crooked cops who allowed this to happen, rogues steal tech and weapons for personal use or late sale, and so on.
  19. I think (at least back when the game was live) they were deliberately vague on such stuff to allow players room to mess with combined with a possible concern over Marvel (which has both Thor and Hercules as characters and already came after Cryptic/NCsoft once before) and DC throwing a tizzy. Heck, in a few AMAs it was even mentioned the whole 'Incarnate of Zeus' thing was literally just Statesman and Imperious' takeaway from their acquired powers and otherwise have little to do with actually being related to Zeus. (Recluse is a prime example, he calls himself the Incarnate of Tartarus but look up the mythology and tell me what all he has in common with it.) Though for my part I always thought it would be a cool storyline to bring up Gilgamesh as a former Incarnate himself (though he was born a demi-god, drinking from the Well is what made him 'two thirds god' to 'one third man) who proved uncontrollable by the Well until it killed his companion Enkidu, giving the ancient Sumarian King a vendetta to aid players against the Well's influence. (Or possibly try to kill them)
  20. Seeing as the Warriors and Freakshow/Vazhilok have/are getting revamps, I'd like to suggest that, if possible, Wyvern and the Legacy chain could be next on the list. Appearance wise, they're overall fine, but as some of the rare 'hero organizations against villains', it's tragic they vanish before level 30 and just stop being relevant than being able to pop up and oppose villains from 1-50. My own proposals for some changes in addition to level range expansion would include: Legacy chain branches do not vanish over levels. So you'll encounter the legacy of the sword and legacy of light alongside the legacies of earth and fire. Possible additional legacies could be added at higher levels such as The Legacy of Ice/water (we do have water blast now), Legacy of Wind/air/lightning (might be good if we get wind control), and Legacy of Shadows. Another possible change could be for the Legacy of Steel to start carrying shields with 'grant cover' and phalanx fighting to work with the idea of them protecting the mages. Wyvern might not need much besides powers that do more than just deal damage, and we have both Trick Archery and tactical arrow to draw from. Alongside this they could also pick up some stealth powers and even have some members use crossbows and add in some snipers. A lot of my suggestions are mechanical upgrades as, I think aesthetically, they're mostly okay. If new elements of the Legacy Chain were to be added, there would be the challenge of designing a new helmet though that might be the only thing that'd need to change.
  21. You know what the Echo shard could also be used for? Giant Monster summoning parties. just like, a @#$% load of people fighting against a dozen giant monsters at once.
  22. If I could change how sally works I’d make her immune to damage or something. To get the badge, you’d need to pick up a “camera” temp power and use it to snap a picture of her. We have the emote that could be used for the power animation. that said I have a bigger idea that’s a bit more elaborate but I figure this is a hood start.
  23. Personally I always saw the deadlock thing as a hint that BAB would basically get a “respec” from invul/energy melee to the more thematically appropriate willpower and street justice. And maybe a bit of a new look to really distinguish him from Marauder. Edit: I even have a bit of a mockup of how I think he could look updated. I might have gone a bit wild, but I sort of liked the idea of his age being shown/worn proudly (now has a relatively bigger beard, clear greying, more-dated looking sunglasses), and then gave him a leather jacket to make him look a little more 'civil' or something compared to Marauder being a 'barbarian' type. The rest admittedly, is just uses more recent 'versions' of the pieces he already wears. Club jeans for a proper denim look, motorcycle boots for stomping people and riding a hog, and a cybertech tanktop that shows off those hard earned muscles. Probably could stand to have his old gloves those. Or something close to them.
  24. Personally, I'd actually prefer not to just copy Dual Pistol's thing. If I were to come up with an 'gimmick' thing, my own idea would be a sort of two stance power: Full choke and Full Bore. Full Choke would turn many of the cones into Single Target attacks, sacrificing AoE in exchange for range and accuracy. Full bore does the opposite and turns all Single Target attacks into cones, giving up accuracy and range for AoE Damage. The default stance basically gives the powerset a mix of AoE and ST
