Vidiotmaps for Homecoming
GM Crumpet replied to AboveTheChemist's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
My apologies if it sounded like I was trivialising the work. Even just a small change can take ages to implement as it needs to be checked and double checked, then the whole thing updated. I know how much time a "minor" fix can take 🙂 -
Vidiotmaps for Homecoming
GM Crumpet replied to AboveTheChemist's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
As stated above, if we change something we let AboveTheChemist know so they can update vidiotmaps as required. It might take a few days if the change is a last minute thing, but we appreciate the work they do for no reward except the gratitude of everyone who uses vidiotmaps. Any changes between updates are generally just slight tweaks if a marker is slightly out. And that is a very rare situation. -
Never experienced it myself, but unless there's a little box "don't show this again" then no,

Why is the "Spring Fling" hosted during the Winter?
GM Crumpet replied to Echo Night's topic in General Discussion
Well considering one of the main parts is to give valentines cards to people and the new update is celebrating a wedding, yeah it's a Valentines event. And it's also Spring somewhere. Technically Spring begins in the UK March 20th, but the daffodils are sprouting and there are buds on the trees. Winter began 21/12/2024 but I'd already had my heating on a month or so by that point. -
Yeesh. This thread is old. And getting hairy. I'll lock it for now unless someone like Number six wants it to remain open.

Same for me. I'll follow someone elses build if it's good, but often it doesn't fit with my playstyle. "Why did they take that power? It's rubbish" kind of thing. I have the same problem in Diablo 4. Online builds are a decent guide, but they always seem to shove a power I hate or never use in there over something I think is awesome. And don't get me started on legendaries and mythics and devs forcing their build choices on players with the sometimes quite odd choices they make for the bonuses.

People have their must picks that others think are optional. Personally unless I'm aiming for something that's up all the time with minimal cool down like Phantom Army or Light form I generally don't bother with stuff like LotG or hasten. My must have is three slot my travel power and pop Blessing of the Zephyr in there. Caps the travel powers distance/speed and gives knockback resistance. Buy it attuned at level 7 when it becomes available then never think of it again. The fact is, we are a lot cheaper than live so can reach maximum potential. Live was so expensive that slotting some enhancements or sets was only a dream. Farming for massive amounts of inf wasn't something too many people knew about, and having multiple accounts was expensive for a lot of us. Now it's a matter of making a new email address and creating a game account. In those days it was a regular added cost every month.

Eventually you'll be given membership whether you like it or not as it's required for the Incarnate content.

It might be causing a clash, does it change anything if you close Pandora and firefox down completely?

City of Heroes .exe file quarantined after Spring Fling update
GM Crumpet replied to Pyrth's topic in Help & Support
I'm probably wrong. I just don't like either of those programs and haven't for a long time. I don't know when they changed but I used Norton all the time in the 90's and 2000's. Then they went horrible. -
What's the problem anyway? Just curious as it's literally a badge and doesn't impact you except to open up later content.
-
Nope, nothing we can do

City of Heroes .exe file quarantined after Spring Fling update
GM Crumpet replied to Pyrth's topic in Help & Support
Yeah Norton is a pain and anything it hasn't been paid to let through it tags as a false positive and quarantines -
You can't unfortunately. Membership is kind of required though. Some of the later content is based on the idea of you being a member.

New today: Manticore & Sister Psyche's wedding

Anyone else want to whisper "At the right time, duck. You'll know when" in her ear? -
That's true. I know some bi-form or human only players who are amazing, but if I try it I'm terrible. Hence why I say they are hard to get right. You have a lot of options, but they can be overwhelming. And yes, IO/set bonuses are very important. But they are for every AT. I have an illusion controller I love, and a plant dom who is awesome, but it took a lot of fudging the enhancements and some quite weird frankenslotting to make them that way.

Kheldians are one of the hardest AT's to get right. They can be the most horrible AT on the planet or one of the strongest. I really struggled to find a way to play them and I created a PB and WS in the April fools event then parked them when they hit 50 and veteran levels. Took maybe an hour or two. It was only after I was talking to Laucianna and she really helped me with my build and powers, plus tips on the best way to play them that I realised their potential. What makes them great is their versatility, but it comes at a cost. The inf to fully slot a Kheldian can be considerable. However, once you get your end build they are absolute power houses. I prefer a WS as it fits my personal play style better, but I'[m equally as deadly with a PB. The problem they have is that at lower levels they can be quite hard. Lack of slots, lack of enhancements and a huge array of powers can hamper them as much as help. I find I spend most of my slots and enhancements on dwarf and nova so that I at least stand a chance. Eventually that changes and I can take advantage of some rather spectacular buffs and nukes. I'm actually really good with them now, but I'm nowhere near the level of some of the top Kheldian players. I'm sure some of those players have extra fingers. It's the only way they can pull off some of their antics 🙂

Download the launcher here https://manifest.cohhc.gg/launcher/hcinstall.exe Make sure you don't put it in a protected folder like desktop or documents, the default is normally fine.

Click remember me, and make sure you log in with one of the alts when you are finished so it creates or edits the playerslot file which is saved on your machine. Also make sure it's not read only. No idea people even did that, or why they think it's necessary. Pro tip, if you play on more than one machine you can email yourself a copy of the playerslot file and just drag it into the folder so you don't have to reorganise everything again.

I'm not seeing anything on your account of characters not played for years. I'm also not seeing many level 1 characters. What names are you using?

Nothing to see here. Moving on....

Primal Mr. G's arc: what does he do, exactly?
GM Crumpet replied to MechaCrash's topic in General Discussion
Mr G is one of those people it pays not to underestimate. All the people you recruit are experts in their field (except subjugator) and in their current state need someone like you to help bring them out of the very bad situations they are in and start to rebuild some kind of power base. As someone else said, they are using you as much as you are using them. But that's not a bad thing. They are useful contacts (if it was real life) and you are an incredibly powerful ally they know is trustworthy (a rare condition in their line of work) and they know you will keep your end of any bargain. They also know from first hand experience that if they don't keep their end of a bargain you'll wipe them out without a second thought. If something goes horribly sideways they have someone they can call on in an emergency. Gameplay-wise everything resets at the end of the arc, but if it was real life the network of contacts you accumulate as you progress would be incredibly handy. As Dorian Maldovar said, " If that man is finally collecting on his debts, God help you, and God help his debtors." -
Captain America: Brave New World
GM Crumpet replied to Excraft's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Please keep discussions to the film, it's budget and that area and avoid discussing real life issues. I understand the actors comments are inflammatory, but if it gets as bad as the posts I removed I'll have no option but to lock this thread.
