The web grenade from traps says "Hi." 😛
-
Oh, the name mr. verene sounds familiar! I have the worst memory ever. >_< It's like, after I quit playing the game regularly and it got shut down, everything CoH related just whooshed right out of my head.
-
Fire's Embrace is level 27, slotted even 😄 , and parked--I mean roosting--in Sharkhead Isle.
-
Now that I've figured out where I've come from... I used to play on Triumph! lol The only character of mine I can remember is Tiger Goddess (emp/arch defender). I played off and on from ~2006-2011ish. I remember seeing the Feline Fellowship around and the name Pride is definitely familiar. I think Tiger Goddess may have been in the Fellowship briefly. I ran a small SG for a little while as well, but I can't remember the name of it. >_< So hello Triumph peoples! I'm currently on Everlasting and occasionally on Indomitable.
-
I think I have finally figured out where I was from on live! I saw a couple of SG names floating around that totally clicked in my brain and gave me an almost deja vu like feeling, lol. I saw the Girls of Nukem High thread pop up a while back and was like, ok, I think I remember that SG, the name is super familiar, but two live servers were listed so I was like, eh, idk. Then I saw @cptgreedle bring up Feline Fellowship in the remembrance thread for Robotech_Master and that name is the one I had been trying to remember since I had created this thread! So with some research, they were on Triumph during live and so I must have played on the Triumph server. 🙂

Thank you for better explaining that than I did; what you said is what I was trying to refer to, but didn't do a good job of it, haha. 😅 I knew there was a minor issue with mobs running from certain fire effects, but got the details wrong. But yeah, I had not heard of anyone talking about or complaining about this user's issue since I found Homecoming. Dealing with runners is something MM's have to account for and is usually a bigger problem for melee pets than it is ranged pets like thugs.
-
I don't think it really is. I think this person was on Everlasting earlier complaining about this issue, but not listening to those of us trying to say your issues sound like they're more about pet management and such. It's likely not a fear, per se, it's probably the same issue that the assault bot has with its burn patch, that scrappers with fire aura have, etc where those fire aura/patches tend to cause mobs to want to run away. That's why a lot of people like to take dark with bots as tar patch can help keep mobs in assault bot's burn patch. Like I said in help chat earlier, of all the MM issues I have heard of, people complaining about this with thugs is not one of them. They're a top performing set for a reason, part of which includes the arsonist. Imo, it's an L2P issue; and I don't mean that in a mean way, though I think it's a bit silly that they went and dug up two threads just to complain about something that they didn't really listen to those of us in the help chat about.

@Ralathar44 I totally get what you're saying and have an anecdotal example of what differences you're making. My family is the kind of family that thinks gaming is a waste of time and doesn't particularly like the fact that during some periods in my life I have been a "hardcore" gamer. Ironically, my mom does a lot of what I consider gaming, but she doesn't see it that way because her little casual computer and phone games aren't, to her, on the same level as World of Warcraft, CoH, Halo, etc. So even the people who engage in all these different types of games see themselves differently. My parents see my gaming as a waste of time, yet my mom spends at least as much time as I do, if not more even, on her little games and yet it's not looked down upon. Also to your point, CoH has a nature to it that appeals to more casual gamers--you can put in 20 minutes or 20 hours and do quite a bit in this game, and if 20 minutes is all you did in a week, you're probably not going to be falling drastically behind. It's also a game that really encourages you to create alts and experiment--while there are "optimal" builds, there is no one best way to build an AT. In comparison, to really get into WoW and raid, that's practically a part/full time job. It often requires many hours/days of dedication, and while you can have alts, you're better serviced having one true main that does the vast majority of raiding/activity. If you miss a week of progression, you are likely to fall behind and potentially bring your team down when you return. Yes, I know WoW *can* be played more casually, and has headed that direction over the years, but for a while, and in my experience from playing many years ago, it was not as casual friendly as CoH. I'm from the fashion/retail world and knowing your target market is key. Professors are constantly telling my fellow classmates that your target market cannot be *everybody.* It just can't. You are not going to make a product that will please everyone, and, frankly, you're not really going to make money that way; not at first anyway (and yes, even stores like Target and Walmart have a target market even though they sell a variety of products). And as Ralathar said, this applies to gaming as well.
-
This is why I like running with you guys--no judgement from those of us who are still learning and a casual playstyle. And you guys are just a lot of fun to be around. I may not have participated in the convo's much yesterday because I didn't want to bring down the mood, but I was enjoying watching you all joke around and have fun. 🙂 You guys definitely feel like my CoH family, lol.

I completely understand what you're saying, but as a roleplayer at heart, I have had a really hard time so far coming up with a gravity/* controller concept that I like and will stick with. But after reading your posts here and my own experience with gravity on my dom, I do think I will have to give a grav controller a try again. Would be nice if impact worked with the assault secondaries.

@Midnyte Thank you so much for all your lovely screenshots! I didn't really get any today. I spent a lot of the runs a bit grumpy at myself for picking an AT that wouldn't be able to handle doing a level 50 TF without being kitted out in IO's and actually having something in her alpha slot. And I still just don't understand the incarnate system whatsoever, so I couldn't figure any of that stuff out on the fly to see if it would help. And constantly getting myself killed wasn't helping, haha. I don't like feeling like I'm useless. Thank you all for being patient and letting me tag along; it was nice to have a reason to get myself a first 50 since I've been dragging my feet on the matter. 🙂 I have a lot of research to do if I want to keep playing Sara.
-
Well, it's good to know that you don't have to do the Mender arc to unlock the alpha slot! 😅 I was too lazy to google how to do this stuff, so I went off what Fraulein said here. And I don't regret running the arc! It wasn't that hard and it was really interesting to read it and learn how the process works.

So far I have been soloing this with few issues until I got to the mission to defeat Holtz and the Honoree. I then proceeded to slam my head into the wall with this one and died over and over until it finally occurred to me to put some strategy in. I turned down my diff to -1/x1, died a couple of more times because where Holtz and Honoree are also have a million rikti and the portals. It finally occurred to me to try and pull each EB away from that giant clusterfuck. Demons on goto at the corner; run in and whack an EB with infrigidate, run around corner where demons are. I managed to get each EB by themself this way and my demons were able to mow them down. Sara has like 0 enhancements, lol, so I was excited to finally figure out how to complete that mission and figured maybe to share my strategy here since @Bananiac also said they're new to doing this. Edit: So Sara is now not only 50, but alpha slot unlocked and moved from Everlasting to Indom. I will see if I can't purchase some enhancements for her, but she doesn't have a lot of inf for getting her sets going (and slotting still confuses the crap out of me), but she's ready to go for tomorrow. 😄
-
Same! I ran my first Hami with Sara and got an enhancement from that, which was cool. And now I'm working on the Mender Ramiel arc that Fraulein mentioned to try and get my alpha slot unlocked. I was a teenager back when I played and my parents didn't really like or understand MMO's, so I never played seriously (I think I spent like 3+ years getting to my first 50, lol), and even once I did finally hit 50, I never did much as I was more active on WoW at the time.

I have a grav/energy dom, and it's a shitload of fun, but I can see what Tex and Mezmera are saying. I almost have too many abilities to use--do I want to set up impact or do I want to set up for energy release? Sometimes more toys to play with is not always better, haha. I feel like a blaster/blapper on this combo, but yeah, wondering if I shouldn't find another way to pair both gravity and energy on my doms since there's not as much synergy as I initially thought.

Oh yes, I should have thought of those! Yes, those are typically woven, if I'm not mistaken. ^_^ Are they itchy? I love the look of them, and I have a Mexican blanket I adore, but my skin is so sensitive, I'm afraid to buy one of these hoodies and have it be too itchy.

Sara Falin hit level 50 last night! Now to figure out unlocking the alpha slot, lol. This is all totally new for me. Not sure how slotted she'll be either.

The overarching sort of goal of the class is to ultimately design a 6 piece line of garments via Adobe Illustrator. Things like this survey are the first step into getting there. So for this first part, the output is gathering initial market data--determining your target market, your target selling area (so to speak), determining a retailer who you would want to purchase your line to sell in their store, seeing if there's interest in what you want to create, etc. Just sort of hitting the basics to build from. This is my first time doing a manufacturing company, as the previous project I have been working on throughout my years in college has been building up a children's wear retailer since this is more my area of interest--I am a merchandising major, not design major, lol, but we have to learn both sides to be well-rounded. I'm in California Polytechnic University - Pomona's Apparel Merchandising and Management Major. And yes, the fashion courses are a lot of fun! There's so much more depth in them than most people realize.
-
Oh yes, if I were actually going into production, I would actually be doing that level of detail! For the moment, the idea was just to see if there was interest in the clothing design companies that we want to create, so just a simple, 3 question survey was asked for us to create to help confirm the ideas for the "garments" we're going to create. I say "garments" because this isn't a sewing class; this is all theoretical and just intended to expand upon skills. There's a good chance that many of the people who have participated in my survey are not my actual target market from the research I've done so far, but the answers have helped with the concept nonetheless. 🙂 Thank you for your input! I truly do appreciate anyone who takes the time to look at this and leave a comment. All of this discussion has been insightful. 🙂

Most hoodies and ponchos are actually knit, not woven, otherwise you'd have an awful hard time getting them on. 🙂 Clothing that's woven would be more like anything made of actual denim (as denim fabric is a woven fabric), button up dress shirts. Easy way to tell is if the material can stretch in any direction (a woven fabric can only stretch on the bias). And on most woven fabrics, if you look closely, you can actually see the the threads criss-crossing to make the weave. And yes, sustainably sourced and created clothing is just as durable, if not moreso, than the current, cheaply made, mass produced clothing. It's one of the reasons this type of clothing costs more. 🙂 Thank you for your response! I love seeing people's thoughts and questions regarding this. 🙂

She's still a baby, but if you decide to go Earth Control, I run mine with /kin to bring a little more oomph to the low damage Earth/ powers. Others like to pair it with /storm for that oomph. I've never placed Ice/ so I can't comment to that, though @5099y_74c05's post inspired me to try an Ice/Time controller.

Demons/Cold MM - Help Me Learn to Build
TygerDarkstorm replied to TygerDarkstorm's topic in Mastermind
@DocMidknight Thank you so much for taking the time to post your build and explain your choices! I really appreciate it. I feel like I may as well be a total noob to this game, lol. I'm still a little confused and overwhelmed by everything, so I guess maybe what I need to do is download Mids and sit and study things like your build and see if I can't use them to learn how to start being able to make my own. 🙂 You've certainly given me a lot to think about; thank you again for your help! -
If you don't care about theme, thugs/storm is supposed to be a pretty damaging MM combo. I have a demons/storm MM that is a lot of fun to play; as another user on the forums once said, it's kind of like summoning the apocalypse. 😄

Put me as a maybe. Not real sure what we're doing yet that day since I have a young daughter and we might go up to my grandma's. I'll let you know when it gets closer to the date.
